Renault lowers the price of its electric e-tech mega … with a unpleasant surprise
Definitely, the Renault Mégane E-Tech range will have been repeatedly retouched. Latest event: the arrival of a new entry -level version much more affordable. Arrival or rather the return of the way.

Renault has just made some modifications in the range of its electric megane e-tech. The most notable change is the arrival of a small battery EV40 version, which allows the diamond to offer A more competitive attack price. This version had disappeared a few weeks ago.
The electric EV40 mega starts at 33,000 euros in Equilibre finish – the most accessible and therefore the least generous in catalog equipment. So it costs 4,000 euros less that the Megane EV60 with equivalent finishing, which gives it up its entry -level status.
Down autonomy
Please note, the EV40 claims concessions compared to the EV60. It sees its autonomy fall at 300 km (WLTP cycle), due to a lower capacity battery (40 kWh). For comparison, the EV60 and its 60 kWh battery guarantee between 450 and 470 km of theoretical autonomy (WLTP cycle) according to the versions.

The EV40 is also slightly set back in the field of recharge. On a quick terminal, it will not tolerate as well as 85 kW continuous current, against 130 kW for the EV60. However, it seems that the exercise of 10 to 80 % recharge is carried out in 37 minutes in both cases.
At launch, Renault marketed an EV40 in parallel with no rapid load capacity, but it has definitively disappeared. It is also necessary to report the serial arrival of a heat pump and a battery optimization system on Evolution ER, Techno and Iconic finishes. And the good news is that these improvements do not no additional cost.
Always more expensive than its Chinese rivals
Despite this tariff adjustment, the electric e-tech mega remains more expensive that the MG4, and in always significant proportions. This rival from China is indeed offered from 29,990 euros (bonus not deduced). The Mégane must also face a new competitor even more aggressive in terms of prices: Chinese Dolphin byd.

The small battery electric mega has already been marketed in the past. She has not not encountered a great success, since it only represented one in five sale. Also, his return may seem surprising at first glance. But finally, this choice is perfectly integrated into the vision of Luca de Meo, the boss of the Renault group who wants to reduce the price of electric cars thanks to small batteries.

Disappeared from the catalog, the Megane E-Tech EV40 is making a comeback on the manufacturer Renault website. This variation of the French electric compact sedan had left the range for the benefit of the EV60 versions, with a larger battery and a more powerful engine. Faced with competition and successive price reductions of the Tesla, the French has not had the expected success and Renault had to react.

A more affordable entry -level version
The tricolor car manufacturer now offers a new entry -level alternative for its flagship electric car. The Megane E-Tech EV40 appears in the brand’s configurator alongside the most expensive Megane e-tech EV60.
In this small version, the Frenchwoman takes on a 40 kWh battery associated with a 130 hp engine, when her elder is adorned with a 220 hp engine powered by 60 kWh of electricity. So equipped, the electric sedan is advancing 300 km of autonomy according to the WLTP cycle, against 470 km for the other models. The fast load goes to 85 kW, against 130 kW.
The entry ticket of this model only available in Equilibre finish is set at € 38,000, which amounts to € 33,000 once the ecological bonus deduces. Before leaving the catalog, this same Megane e-tech EV40 cost only € 37,200.
Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric EV60 220 CH Techno: Renaulution Française
After the ZOE, the fluence and the Twingo, here is the Megane E-Tech Electric, the fourth 100 % electric vehicle of Renault. Proposed in 40.
The heat pump now standard
Techno and Iconic higher finishes also benefit from a slight reshuffle. Available only in EV60 version, with the largest battery and the 220 hp engine, the Megane E-Tech EV60 Techno or Iconic now has a heat pump and a serial optimization system, an option formerly billed 400 €.
On the other hand, it is a shame that the EV60 ICONIC OPTIMME load version (22 kW in alternating current) is always displayed at € 48,500. A simple discount of € 1501 would allow him to benefit from the ecological bonus and would surely make this high -end version more competitive.
