Use the app to locate a lost device or object
If your lost device is covered by Applecare+ in the event of loss or flight, submit a complaint for your lost or stolen device. Do not remove the device to locate and do not dissociate it from your Apple identifier.
In case of loss or theft of your Apple Watch
The LOCED APP can help you find your Apple Watch and protect your information if your watch is not found.
Functioning
- An Apple Watch which has a GPS and mobile connectivity can use GPS and a reliable Wi-Fi or Mobile connection to display its approximate position.
- An Apple Watch that has a GPS can use GPS and reliable Wi-Fi to display its approximate position.
- Since the Apple Watch Series 1 is not equipped with a GPS system, the location indicated will be that of the twin iPhone or its Wi-Fi connection.

Find your watch on a card
Connect to iCloud.com or use the app locate to find your watch on a card. If your watch is nearby, you can get ringing to help you find it. Your watch will start to ring until you stop stopping.
If you cannot find your watch on the card, it may mean that it is connected either to a Wi-Fi network, to a cellular network, or to the paired iPhone.
On the Web
- Access the iCloud page.com, then connect using your Apple identifier.
- In the quick access menu in the upper right corner, select Locate.
- Click on all my devices, then select your Apple Watch.
On your device
- Open the Locate app.
- Choose the devices tab.
- Select your Apple Watch to find it on the card.

Activate the lost mode of the Apple Watch
If you can’t find your Apple Watch anymore, you can immediately lock it on iCloud.com or from your twin iPhone. Just place your watch in lost mode. You can then send him a personalized message accompanied by your phone number. Thus, anyone who would find your Apple Watch will know how to contact you.
On your iPhone or iPad
- Open location and touch your Apple Watch.
- Touch Activate in the mark as lost.
- Touch continuing.
- Enter a phone number to which you can be reached, then touch Next.
- Enter the message you want to display on the watch screen.
- Tap activate.
The location function will send you a message by email to confirm that your Apple Watch in the good in lost mode.
Disable or cancel lost mode
If you find your Apple Watch, touch unlock on your watch, then enter your access code. The lost mode will be automatically disabled, and you can again use your watch as you usually. You can also deactivate the lost mode from the paired iPhone or iCloud.com.
On the Web
- Connect to iCloud.com with your Apple identifier.
- In the quick access menu in the upper right corner, select Locate.
- Select all my devices, then select your Apple Watch.
- Select the lost mode> Stop the lost mode, then select again on stopping the lost mode to confirm.
On your device
- Open location, then touch your lost Apple Watch.
- Touch activated in the mark as lost.
- Touch Deactivate Mark as lost, then touch Disable to confirm.
If you can’t find your Apple Watch
If you have not activated the functionality Locate before the flight or loss of your Apple Watch and it is not connected to a Wi-Fi network, a mobile network or your paired iPhone, you cannot not use it to locate your watch. You can still protect your information by proceeding as follows:
- Activate the lost mode of the Apple Watch. When your watch is in lost mode, anyone who would like to deactivate the location functionality, erase your watch data or twin it with another iPhone must first enter your access code.
- Modify the password of your Apple identifier. Modifying the password associated with your Apple identifier prevents intruders from accessing the information you have stored on iCloud or that they use other services from your device.
- Report loss or theft to local authorities. You may have to provide them with the serial number of the device. Find the serial number of your Apple product.
Localizing functionality is the only way to locate or follow the geographic position of a lost or stolen device. However, it must have been activated before the loss or theft of your watch. Apple does not offer any other service to determine the location of a device.
Use the app to locate a lost device or object
Discover the different ways to use the app for finding your lost personal device or object, in particular by displaying its position on a card or signaling it as lost.

If you have lost or lost an apple or personal object, use the app locate on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with the most recent version of iOS or iPados or a Mac with the most recent version of MacOS to which you are connected using the same Apple identifier. Find the device on a card
- Open the Locate app.
- Choose the devices or objects tab.
- Select the device or object to find it on the card. If you belong to a family sharing group, you can find your group’s devices.
- Choose itinerary to open your location in plans.
If you activate Network Locate, you can find your device or your object, even if it is not connected to a Wi-Fi network or a cellular network. The LOCALIZE network is a encrypted and anonymous network of hundreds of millions of Apple devices that can help you locate your device or object.
You can’t find your device?
- Locating may be deactivated on your phone.
- If you use the app locate, you cannot see where your devices are if more than seven days have passed since sending their position to Apple.
- If you use iCloud.com/Find, you cannot see where your device is if it is closed, if the battery is discharged or if more than 24 hours have passed since its location was sent to Apple.

Ring the device
- Open the Locate app.
- Choose the devices tab or the objects tab.
- Select your lost device or object, then choose to ring. If your device is offline, it will not ring as long as it is not connected to a network. If the Airtag attached to your object is out of Bluetooth reach, it will not ring as long as it is not within reach.
Your iPhone will also warn you if you leave your airpods out of the Bluetooth reach when you are not in an important place, such as your home or your workplace. With some airpods models, your iPhone will only warn you for 24 hours after your last use.

Report your device as lost or activate the lost mode for your object
- Open the Locate app and choose the devices tab or the objects tab.
- Select your lost device or object.
- Scroll down the screen until you point out as lost or lost fashion and select Activate.
- Follow the steps on the screen if you want your contact details to appear on your lost device or object or if you wish to enter a personalized message asking the person who has found the device or the lost object to contact you.
- Select activate.
What happens if you activate to point out as lost for your device?
The signal function as lost allows you to remotely lock your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Mac lost using an access code, ensuring the security of your data even if you have lost your device. What happens if you activate the lost mode for your object?
When you activate the lost mode to find a personal object with which an AIRTAG or a compatible third -party product is associated, you can send a message using your phone number or email address. If someone finds your Airtag, this person will be able to see the message by touching the Airtag prolongedly with the top of their iPhone or a smartphone compatible with near field communication technology (NFC) to open Found Found.Apple.com. If someone finds your third -party product compatible, this person can open the app locate on their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, choose the object tab, touch Identify an object found and select the object in the list to see your message.

Erase a device data
- Make sure to follow the above steps to collect your lost device. Note that this operation is irreversible.
- Open the Locate app and select the Appaisux tab.
- Select the device you want to erase remotely.
- Scroll down the screen and choose erase this device.
- Select Erase this [device].

What happens if you erase the data from a device?
When you erase data from your device, all your information (including credit and debit cards as well as prepaid cards for Apple Pay) is deleted from the device.
If you erase the data from a device on which iOS 15, iPados 15 or a later version are installed, you can use location to locate the device or make it ring. Otherwise, you will not be able to locate your device or make him make a sound after having erased the data. You may still be able to locate your Mac or your Apple Watch if the device is near a Wi-Fi network previously used.
