Why know how to play the piano helps you succeed in life better

Did you know that people who play an instrument are also the most likely to do a large number of things ? Here is why your musical training can help you succeed in other areas of life.
by Dorothea Herrmann
Did you know that when you learn to play the piano, you develop capacities, which help you succeed in other areas of life, for example in your studies or your professional career ? Indeed, several studies have shown that there is a direct link between music lessons and success in the world of work. Here is an example: article from the New York Times .
How is it that musicians succeed better in life ? We have noted below six essential abilities that you draw when you learn the piano.
1. Playing piano increases your concentration capacity
When you play the piano, you must pay attention to many elements, such as the rhythm, the height of the sounds, the tempo, the value of the notes, etc. In practice, you do a real concentration exercise while you play the songs you like.
Studies have also shown that each time a musician seizes his instrument, a real fireworks starts in his brain (if you want to know more about this subject, we invite you to look The following video: Ted Talk).
2. Playing the piano teaches you to develop your perseverance
Learn a new song or a new song takes time and a good dose of effort. Before you can play a song by heart and fluidly, you need to train for a few weeks. The simple idea of being able to play the song you work one day stimulates your motivation. This teaches you to be patient and increases your perseverance. This ability is particularly useful to you when you find yourself faced with difficult tasks at university or work.
3. Playing the piano makes you more disciplined
Learning to play the piano is a real challenge. Regular practice and intense work not only increase your perseverance, but also help you to become more disciplined. Some song passages require more work from you. For learning the piano, there is a “magic” key to success. Of course, I will reveal it to you. The key to success is practice, practice, practice.
Regularly work your piano requires discipline. At the beginning, such rigor may seem difficult to you. You can encourage yourself by thinking of offering you a small reward once you have achieved a goal. Over time, you will get used to a regular practice and it will no longer seem complicated to respect your piano working hours.
4. Playing the piano improves your time management
Many of us have a very busy schedule. Unfortunately, scientists have not yet found a way to extend our 24 -hour days. To have time to manage all your activities, you must therefore organize yourself well. By getting used to working your piano regularly, you also learn to use your time in a productive way. From this point of view, 20 small minutes of beat between two activities can be used for a piano session.
5. Playing the piano improves your emotional intelligence
Playing the piano optimizes your listening capacity. This quality is very important when you interact with others. You do not only communicate your feelings through your facial expressions, your body language, but also through the intonation, the melody and the rhythm of your voice. Anyone who plays an instrument is also a more attentive listener. It is therefore not surprising that studies have revealed that the musicians feel better of the emotions of others and are more able to interpret them than the non-Musicians.
6. Playing the piano leads to your memory
Playing the piano stimulates your brain. While you train yourself playing your favorite songs, the regions of your brain that are stimulated widen and become more active. In particular the regions which are responsible for the storage of hearing information are much more developed in musicians than among non-Musicians.
When you play the piano, you therefore improve your ability to process acoustic information. Therefore, you find yourself much more rarely in a situation where you have to take out a sentence in this way: “Sorry, maybe you’ve already told me that, but I don’t remember it anymore. ».
Isn’t it fascinating to see everything that learning the piano brings you ? If you were looking for a good reason to put yourself in the piano, you now have several under the eyes. 🙂

From virtual piano guide

The 19th century saw a large number of free reed harmoniums flourish in churches and then schools and other establishments. The practical side won on the acoustic and sound qualities of the small positive organs of yesteryear. Harmoniums and other free reeds guide is robust and relatively fair, without the need for frequent agreements.

The portable guides then are based on this same bellows principle. If on the church harmonium the air is compressed by a pedals, the bellows of the guide-chain is muffled by one of the hands of the musician. Only one hand can therefore play on the keyboard, unless of course delegate a third party to this one task ..
If these small portable harmoniums have been supplanted by other systems in the West, they are still very present in Indian music, in a version with shoots allowing by switching to play the 22 notes (shritis) of Indian music on only 12 Keys by Octave.

The 20th century, until the 1970s, was marked by the electric guides. These large boxes contained a small engine which produced the overpressure of necessary air. They often weighed several pounds or tens of kilos, were almost indestructible but offered musicians only a fairly ridiculous shard … sometimes in the order of a tenth !
Then, the miniaturization of electronics turned upside down (as in many areas) the weight/capacity ratio of guides-sing. The era of synthesizers sees the birth of instruments at the derisory (and very unequal quality) price transforms the Guide-Chain from before into a fun instrument with multiple sounds. The very appellation of guide-as-one sometimes leaves its place to that of “synth” clearly more modern ..

The computer then the tablets and smartphones lead us to the last phase of the evolution of these small keyboards. The dematerialization of the concept contributes to the very wide dissemination of this universal instrument. The virtual piano does not replace the physical instrument but is a formidable complement. Through an application or a simple web page like the one you read right now, everyone can do their favorite melody on their computer or smartphone. Isn’t that wonderful ?
The papermaker keyboard.fr thus allows the singer to work as he can do with a material guide-chain, even if his primary vocation remains fun so that everyone can “play” music !
