In the 2000s, in Spain, a young boy claimed to be American and have been removed four years earlier by the members of a sect. Local police do not believe a word in the story of the boy, whom she suspects of identity theft. But his sister soon comes to pick him up and brings him back to his family in Louisiana, where his parents leave no doubt about his identity: it is their son. Spread in the press, the boy’s story surprises an agent of the FBI, Jennifer Johnson. Convinced that he lies, she does not understand why her so-called parents strive to believe that it is indeed their child.

He says he is called Nicholas Mark Randall, being American and having been abducted four years earlier by the members of a sect.To the surprise of the Spanish police who suspect him of being a repeat impostor, his S?Ur comes to get him and brings him back to the United States, Louisiana, where his family seems to recognize him.Local media accounts on this miraculous return alert the FBI whose agent, Jennifer Johnson, wonders more and more about the true identity of Nicholas and the surprising attitude of the family.The chameleon is inspired by the true story of Frédéric Bourdin sentenced on several occasions for identity theft.
