And if its name rather evokes you a mobile application or a high-tech service …, know that you are very close to the truth. Young brand of the Chinese group Geely (Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Proton), Lynk & Co is launching 01: its very first ambitious and at the forefront of technology, based on a mechanics that is far from being unknown.

Lynk & Co 01: an inspired design

And even very inspired, since the Lynk & Co 01 SUV evokes us – to us and our entourage, to whom we have presented it – many stylistic universes. In bulk, we can first identify a little look of Ford Puma and proportions of Porsche Macan at the front. A little Kia and Audi on the back … The most daring will even go so far as to see the Ferrari F12 on the front of the front lights !

Beyond its evocative style, Lynk & Co 01 has not yet created its own identity. This does not prevent the SUV from displaying successful lines overall, and from reminding us of its name everywhere: by counting the rims, the name of Lynk & Co appears no less than 7 times on the vehicle … And that’s not to count the interior.

The Phev displays two beautiful livery, in black or in navy blue, enhanced with an electric blue on the window contours, the grille, and the rims. Its dimensions ? 4.54 m long and 1.85 m wide and 1.68 m high. What make it a vehicle that is both valuing, and adapted to the urban environment. The finishes are in any case of very good quality, up to the premium ambitions of Lynk & Co.

Motorization and autonomy: in known land

If the Lynk & Co 01 is unprecedented from the outside, it still has familiar underwear. The rechargeable hybrid SUV borrows from the mechanics of the Volvo XC40 T5 recharge. Or a 3-cylinder 1.5 180 horsepower turbo petrol and an electric motor, for a total of 261 horsepower. All associated with a 7 -speed double clutch automatic transmission. On the road, this set results in good performance, between comfort and responsiveness.

Despite its 1,879 kg, the 01 knows how to be lively enough during overruns and other insertions. The relationship changes are very appreciable in all circumstances. Only the braking brakes make us feel when the retrograde box, which remains completely natural.

In terms of endurance, the 69 km of electric autonomy are entrusted to an imposing 14.1 kWh battery of useful capacity (17.6 gross). A autonomy that we rather measured at 51 km in practice, on a mixed urban/national course. Slightly below the promise, it can still reach between 75 and 80 km in town.

Our medium consumption was 4.6 l/100 km (petrol) and 8.8 kWh/100 km (electric). There is no doubt that you will be able to travel a few kilometers more than us with a heavy foot. For better performance management, three “pure”, “hybrid” modes, and “power” are available to us. Pure for 100 % electric, a reactive mode in town and appreciable during maneuvers and up to 100 km/h. Hybrid mode allows comfortable performance at cruising speed on the highway (our favorite mode). Finally, Power mode uses all the power available for effective recovery and reminders.

Life on board: Premium comfort, maximum technology

On board, the Lynk & Co 01 welcomes us in a cabin which this time displays a real personality. Starting with seats with a touch of a sport, offering good maintenance and first -rate comfort. Again, the “Lynk & Co” markings are legion ! But no need to do the same, because the 01 made us all agree on the care taken inside. If some elements inevitably come from Volvo (box order, commodos, steering wheel controls), we were surprised that the Lynk & Co 01 is entitled to its own dashboard – very qualitative and successful – as well as a system 12.7 -inch tactile multimedia dedicated to it. Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatible (both wireless), infotainment is intuitive, although sometimes slow to react.

The interface is rather logical and well thought out, which is not always obvious to Volvo, precisely. Note also the slew of equipment and serial driving aid on this Lynk & Co. Heated seats, panoramic sunroof, induction charger, Infinity audio system at 10 speakers, adaptive regulator, reversing camera … everything is standard ! Difficult to do better, when there is already everything.

Comfort continues at the back, with a generous leg space and a 466 -liter trunk. Note that once folded, the rear seats make it possible to obtain a flat floor in addition to the extensive loading volume. The SUV is very strong in terms of standard endowment, to the point of really having only one option to offer: the coupling ball.

Driving: wise behavior, powerful braking

On the road, our Lynk & Co 01 shows rigor and precision in normal driving. Driven of Continental Ecocontact 6 tires, the PHEV knows how to stay in its place in town and on quick tracks. However, it is enough to arrive a little stronger in a turn or on a roundabout to pick up and wake up. Not entirely adapted to a sporting driving (even if it is in this that it can be fun), the SUV prefers row driving. Safety side: attention, nasty brake ! It took us a few minutes to tame the biting braking of 01, formidable efficiency at any speed.

Emergency braking is very effective, and knows how to intervene when necessary. Suffice to say that we quickly learned to stay in B mode (regenerative braking) for more homogeneous driving. Rather silent, the Lynk & Co 01 the rest up to 110 km/h if there is not too much wind. Beyond, a little music in the very good infinity system and finished parasitic noises !

Opinion to interested parties. Living in Western Paris, I chose to rent Lynk & Co 01 Phev and paid 500th of booking in advance. The announced availability was 2 to 3 weeks to have the vehicle. We are 4 weeks old and they have just announced that I will not have a vehicle for the next few weeks, so goodby. Overall, the telephone service is poor, interlocutors do not have the capacity for interpretation or action on dissatisfaction or unwarmed promises and have no intelligent response overall. they repeat the same sentence over and over again. In short, a beautiful showcase . empty. The quality of service is zero and already makes me regret my choice, so I have not even received the machine yet !

Hello, I also plan to subscribe for the first time to this vehicle in a few months because I find the monthly price very very cheap compared to other car subscriptions with vehicle equivalent on the market. And I say “very very cheap” for a high -end vehicle that I find personally beautiful. I just have one question to ask you: if there are any, what requirements in terms of solvency or financial situation they ask? FYI I am a young executive of 29 years who will be at 38k euros gross fixed in salary (with a total package between 41 and 46k if I count the variable bonuses) from December during a change of position and company for a new permanent contract.

how can we arrive with 8.8kwh/100km having traveled 50km with a battery of 14.1kWh ?!
would we not rather be around 30kWh/100km in electric full ?
What seems more logical to me for a large SUV of almost 2t .

Having seen it and mounted in the thermal version, I must say that the photos do not really do it justice. Afterwards, it’s very subjective but I find it pretty good. And the finish is really good.

17.6kWh of raw battery . for ~ 50km ?
How it can be so ineffective ? The BMW i3, the first, had an 18kWh battery, possibly a REX with 9L fuel allowing to make around 100km in full electric and 100 more with petrol.
So ok it’s a 4 place, but very comfortable, a little close to the SUV (that it was not), but really efficient (a little less in winter, heating without a heat pump when we had the rex was not a good idea). Swallowed as soon as we exceeded 112 km/h per. for sure. Consumption increased.
So get this out in 2021. With a large battery to have a lower electricity autonomy than a 2014/2015 box. hat.

Lynk & co, Kesako ? It is a new half -Chinese half brand, owned by the Geely group, owner of Lotus, Polestar or Volvo. Its first model, the SUV 01, is also a cousin of the XC40.
