In terms of performance, and as their evolution in terms of nomenclature implied, we should unfortunately not see notable changes. The two SOCs keep the same CPU base as their predecessors.

Helio G96: It is he who progresses the most

Let’s start with the model that takes advantage of the most important changes. The Helio G96 takes up the same CPU part as the G95, with 2 high performance cores Arm Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.05 GHz and 6 cores Cortex-A55 (at 2.00 GHz this time) devoted to the economy of ‘energy. As XDA Developers points out, the SOC is content with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, in place of the Mali-G76 MC4 graphic part of its predecessor. This downgrade seems to have the aim of pushing manufacturers to favor Dimensity 700 5G chips, a little more sophisticated (and probably more profitable for Mediatek).

The main interest of the Helio G96 is however to offer care for 120 Hz refreshment for Full HD tiles+. The G95 was satisfied for 90 Hz. Helio G88: Full HD propelled to 90 Hz
