Livebox 5: Install (first installation)

To benefit from the best speed of your Livebox 5, it is imperative to install your Livebox 5 directly at the fiber.
However, if you configure your accommodation for you, it is always possible to install your livebox 5 on the fiber network via a fiber box.
- Having connected the optical cord to the optical wall outlet.
- Check that your mobile number is well informed in your customer area. It is systematically updated when subscribing or modifying your internet subscription as well as a livebox exchange. You can update it at any time in your customer area.
Connect the Livebox 5
For your safety, please follow the order of the connection steps:
- Connect the power supply (supplied in the pack) to the Livebox 5 then on an electrical outlet.
- Connect your optical cable to the optical wall outlet and the other end, to the “fiber” socket of the Livebox 5.
The optimal connection is to connect your livebox and your decoder to 2 separate electrical sockets. If the configuration of your installation does not allow it, connect the Livebox 5 to the first electrical outlet (the closest to the wall outlet), the decoder on the second.

Inside, the components offered are rather efficient, allowing in particular a improvement up to 30% of flows In XDSL, thanks to the Broadcom 63138 chipset of the Livebox 4 which brings a significant gain on the synchronization flow (compared to the old Livebox Play). Compatible with the orange Wi-Fi 6 rehearsal, the Livebox 4 is a rather efficient and largely robust box for an ADSL/VDSL2 connection. Inside, we find:

LIVEBOX 5
Launched at the end of 2019, the Livebox 5 is the penultimate box equipment created by Orange. Unlike the Livebox 4, it is available only for subscribers eligible for optical fiber, at Orange as at Sosh. Offered in Livebox and Livebox Up, Open or Open Up Optical Optical and Sosh Optical Optical offers, the Livebox 5 allows a very high speed connection up to 2 GB/S (except at Sosh, with 300 Mb/s)). Beyond very high-performance high speed, the Livebox 5 of Orange offers a more stable Wi-Fi that relies on the Wi-Fi 5 standard.

Lighter and more compact, the Livebox 5 is part of a more ecological approach. Indeed, its shell consists of 100% recycled plastic and subscribers will be able to see a reduced electricity consumption of 17% on their electricity bill. A rather effective and very convincing argument ! Connective level, the Livebox 5 has:

LIVEBOX 6
Launched in April 2022, the Livebox 6 is the most recent of the Orange modems. Like Livebox 5, it is only available for optical fiber subscribers, and more specifically even people who subscribe to the new Orange Internet offer: Livebox Max . Like the Livebox 5, it delivers a flow of up to 2 GB/S. But, unlike the Livebox 5, it is not a shared speed. But, this is not the only novelty. The Livebox 6 is indeed the only modem that is compatible with the Wi-Fi standard 6th . This standard uses a new 6 GHz frequency band, in addition to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. In addition, its vertical design has been designed to optimize the broadcasting of Wi-Fi and thus ensure better coverage.
Like the Livebox 5, the Livebox 6 wants to be ecological. In addition to being easily repairable and being provided with a 100% recycled and recyclable plastic shell, the Livebox 6 has two standby modes (light and prolonged) which allow, when activated, to have a Reduced energy consumption of 30% and 95%. Connective level, the Livebox 6 has:
- Two phone sockets
- Five Ethernet ports (1 port of 2.5 Gb/s and four ports of 1 GB/s)
- A on/off button
- A reset button
- A fiber socket

Orange TV decoders
Whether with its fiber offers or its ADSL/VDSL2 subscriptions, Orange offers a single TV decoder: the UHD TV decoder. At Sosh, however, it will be necessary to be satisfied, as part of the subscription of the TV decoder option, of the TV4 decoder. You should know that Orange leaves the choice to subscribers to benefit, or not, of the TV decoder. Indeed, with the emergence of connected TVs, some users do not see the usefulness of going through a TV decoder.
The UHD TV decoder for Orange box customers
Since the launch of its latest TV decoder, all orange customers, whether fiber or ADSL subscribers, have benefited from the UHD 4K TV decoder. Please note, when subscribing to an orange offer, you will have to benefit from the last orange decoder, check the TV decoder box. Indeed, Orange leaves the choice to its subscribers to benefit, or not, from the TV decoder. Another element to take into account: it will take € 40 activation fees for the TV case.

Finally, the UHD 4K TV decoder is compatible with the multi-screen recorder which allows you to record up to 300 hours of programs.

The TV 4 decoder for SOSH customers
Historical decoder of the Orange operator, the TV 4 decoder is now intended for Sosh customers, the Low Cost of Orange subsidiary, which offers internet offers without commitment. Indeed, Orange no longer markets this decoder for its box customers. Let’s see what the TV 4 decoder has in store for you, if you subscribe to an adsl or fiber optic offer at Sosh. Compatible with ultra HD 4K quality, the TV 4 decoder also allows you to benefit from a Dolby Atmos sound which thus allows you to watch your films and series in hyper immersive mode.
