Video – New breakdown at Montparnasse station: passengers evacuated in full tracks, gradual return to normal

New disruptions in Montparnasse station in Paris. TGV and Inoui TGV traffic was strongly disrupted on Sunday afternoon due to an electrical failure, SNCF said. If the traffic was to return to normal in the morning after the repair of the incident, delays are still reported on the arrival of certain trains this Monday morning.

Sunday, according to traffic info, delays until 2:40 am affected trains to Quimper, Saint-Malo or Bordeaux, immobilized at the station. Train circulation was able to resume on a track, on the Atlantic high speed line.

The cause of these delays is “A fault of power supply to Massy” (Essonne), said the SNCF to LCI, now tabling on a resumption of traffic from 6.30 p.m. More specifically, an electrical supply cable has been “broken at the entrance to the tunnel”. Teams sent on site were able to complete the repairs around 5:50 p.m.

A train evacuated to Marcoussis

A “Rescue operation” was also conducted in order to evacuate travelers from a train stopped online at Marcoussis (Essonne), whose displacement conditioned the normal resumption of traffic. Evacuation should be completed around 5:45 p.m. Civil protection, firefighters and SNCF agents “are on site to facilitate the change of train”. Shortly before 6 p.m., a train “rescue” was about to leave with the passengers, towards Montparnasse.

The expected delays were 30 to 60 minutes from the Montparnasse station, and from 30 minutes to 2 hours upon arrival. But on the Gare and Connections site, delays on arrival reaching up to 6 am reported.
