Redmi Note 11 test: the smartphone of the economical

Again as we were able to prove during our test, the Redmi Note 11 is rather comfortable to handle and it can even be used in one hand with its edge on board 6.43 ″. It is also at the screen level that we find the first index that betrays its pricing positioning: the presence of a thick “chin” on the lower part of the screen is necessarily less premium. But we quibble because it is still an excellent screen for this price and in use, we forget this slight outgrowth.

This is the “star” of Xiaomi smartphones ! It is sold each year by whole pallets, and allowed the Chinese manufacturer to become, in a few years, one of the most important players in France. The recipe for the Redmi Note is simple: an explosive value for money, and the integration of technologies that we usually find in much more expensive smartphones.

This Redmi Note 11 is no exception to the rule. From the point of view of design, no surprise: it takes up the format and the lines of its predecessor. The screen is always 6.43 inches, the back is still made of plastic, the camera selfie always integrated in the form of a punch … Just note, at the rear, a photo block slightly modified compared to that of that of The previous generation.

Ergonomics: a surprisingly complete smartphone

Good news, Xiaomi did not cut on the equipment of the smartphone, rather solid for a terminal at this price. We appreciate in particular the presence of two SIM spaces and a microSD port, ideal in particular to extend the slightly weak memory (64 GB on our test model). The jack, which unfortunately has disappeared from most high -end terminals, is also welcome. We also have the right to a fingerprint sensor located on the edge, on the locking button, which works perfectly. We even end up with a few gadgets whose brand has the secret, such as an infrared transmitter associated with a remote control application. On the other hand, we will do without wireless charging and of course … 5G. The Snapdragon 680 that drives this device is only a 4G chip.

The whole is in any case a success from the point of view of design and design: despite its price, the smartphone is fine, well finished, and can easily pass for a much more expensive terminal !

The screen: the contrasting joys of the 90 Hz Amoled

Xiaomi had already brought the AMOLED screen and its infinite contrast to the previous generation. This time, it is another techno that makes its first appearance on such an inexpensive mobile: a rapid refresh panel.
Admittedly, we do not reach the 120 Hz of high -end smartphones, but the 90 Hz of the Redmi Note 11 screen are already very appreciable. The option is not activated by default -it clearly consumes more battery -, but provides undeniable visual comfort once started. It remains to be seen whether you prefer to take advantage of this small refinement or benefit from the best possible autonomy. On our side, we clearly favored the second option.

For the rest, the slab is quite correct. The infinite contrast brought by OLED technology is necessarily appreciable, especially for the consultation of videos. We have noted a delta e – which measures color fidelity – at 5.55, which is far from exceptional, but not shocking in use. The brightness, measured by our lab at 695 cd/m 2, is average entry -level phones: we are far from high -end smartphones, of course, but it is however more than enough to see the screen correctly , even in full sun, provided you push back the backlight.

Performances: chick, but we get used to it

Good. Suffice to say from the outset, the Redmi Note 11 is not a monster of power. The results of our different bench prove it, as you can see in the table below, which compares it to much more powerful (and more expensive) smartphones.

The culprit is all found: it is the Snapdragon 680, the chip that drives him. Recent and engraved in 6 Nm, this entry -level SoC is more modern and slightly better clocked than the Snapdragon 678 which equipped the Redmi Note 10 (2.4 GHz against 2.2 GHz). On the other hand, its architecture is somewhat different and its GPU (Adreno 610) is strangely less efficient than that of the model of last year (Adreno 612). This undoubtedly explains the slightly lower performance that we see on certain scores.

But not relying on the figures here would be an error here. Because on a daily basis, the Redmi Note 11 offers a completely honest copy. Navigation in the Android interface is most of the time fluid, even if you clearly feel hooks, especially when you want to enjoy the multitasking view or quickly switch from one program to another. The launch of applications is also a little long, but it is so serious that it is waiting for a second more to see the interface of Twitter or Google Maps open ? In reality, not really.

What is more annoying, and that we see after only a few minutes of use, is the lack of RAM and the draconian management of the programs in memory. The Redmi Note 11 that we tried only has 4 GB. It is not much in the Android world and the OS, probably to favor (the excellent, see lower) autonomy of the smartphone, tends to “kill” the applications in the background very quickly.
Result: the long loads that we mentioned above are very, very often in the game when you switch from one app to another. Again, it is not unacceptable, we get used to it, but we are clearly far from the performance of a better endowed smartphone.

Miui and the Bloatware problem

Let us stop for a few moments on the bone and the miui of Xiaomi over. The Redmi Note 11 runs on Android 11 and Miui 13, the most recent version of its overlay. The first thing to do after configuring the smartphone is to update it (we test it in version 13.0.5) in order to eradicate a good number of bugs and streamline navigation.
Miui is in any case a clean and well optimized overlay. It does not change too much when you are used to a “pure” Android, and looks much less like a copy of iOS than before. So much the better.

pub

What we like less is the string of integrated software that all ask you to submit to a data sharing with Xiaomi or partners to be able to take advantage of it. This is for example the case of weather, Xiaomi Videos, the application for taking note … and we pass. Worse, certain applications, such as that called Security, For example, integrate advertisements that it is a priori not possible to cut.

When configuring the smartphone, we therefore advise you to pay attention to what you accept, and, in most cases, to refuse services which, in any case, will be used for nothing, or even pollute your experience. This is particularly the case with the execrable function Carrouli, Who uses Taboola services to offer you a photo (often cat) and a link to content (in general) of poor quality. While collecting your personal data in passing. Yuck. This is undoubtedly the ransom of a good phone at 200 euros ..

No miracle in photo, but a correct partition in broad daylight

At the back of the smartphone, there are four photo modules, but two of them are anecdotal. First there is a depth sensor (2 Mpix) which essentially serves to improve portraits, and a macro sensor, also of 2 Mpix, which is not very interest on a daily basis.

Let’s be clear: the photo is not the strong point of the Redmi Note 11, even if you can get honest shots in good light conditions.

The main module has a very small sensor (1/2.76 inches) of 50 Mpix (f/1.8, 26 mm) which gives very correct results in full light, rather well exposed, surprisingly detailed shots, with successful colorimetry … Despite certain aberrations linked to a brutal digital treatment.

The littleness of the sensor means that things are on the other hand seriously at night: the clichés then become very burned, lose a lot in detail: the smartphone is struggling to do the sharpness.

As for the ultra wide angle, it is not famous, day and night, with important deformations of the image in the corners, a very present noise, including with a perfect light. In low light, the clichés are downright difficult to exploit.

On video, the copy is far from perfect also. It’s even a bit cat. The smartphone is satisfied with a 1080p recording in 30 frames per second. Difficult to ask for better at this price, and we gladly be satisfied with it. On the other hand, we have noticed many concerns during our shots, in particular recurring snags as soon as we want to take a panorama, for example.

Exceptional autonomy !

We finish with what is in our opinion the big, even the immense strong point of this smartphone: its autonomy. According to our measurements, the Redmi Note 11, armed with its big 5,000 mAh battery, ranks among the very best smartphones from this point of view, with 6:59 pm in versatile autonomy, a bench which saves a classic use of the smartphone.

Our two weeks with the phone in the pocket confirmed this excellent observation. If we are satisfied with reasonable use (surfing, email consultation, navigation, social networks, some photos), the Redmi Note 11 allows you to keep easily more than two days without going through the recharge box. This is really appreciable, especially since Xiaomi has not forgotten the fast load, with a full load in 1h07 and a load at 50 % in 25 minutes. top !

The verdict of the test

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

Admittedly, the Redmi Note 11 is not a war lightning. Certainly, his photo/video partition leaves something to be desired. But difficult to blame him when you know its price. For 200 euros, we are entitled to a smartphone with very complete equipment, with a pleasant screen and above all, above all, fabulous autonomy.
Difficult, under these conditions not to recommend it to you if you have a tight budget: it will be satisfied with you. Beware, however, of certain preinstalled applications, which could display unlined advertisements for you.

Redmi Note 11 test: the smartphone of the economical

We tested the Redmi Note 11, the Smartphone at the best value for money in Xiaomi, which embodies this promise. And if a smartphone at only € 200 was enough to meet the vast majority of your daily needs ? Verdict !

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

Since his arrival in France, Xiaomi has established himself by breaking the prices on many electronic products for the general public: watches, cameras, electric scooters, tablets and of course, smartphones.

In this field, it is the Redmi Note range that stands out since it is it that embodies the proposal of the smartphone to the best value for money signed Xiaomi. In the logic of things, the brand has announced its Redmi Note 11 At the start of the year, one of the last standard bearers in this range, which should continue to establish itself as one of the most competitive smartphones of 2023.

Below you will discover Our Redmi Note 11 test from Xiaomi. It is clear that there has been progress on the entry level lately. Our YouTube video is below, and the test written below.

What price costs the Redmi Note 11 ?

The Redmi Note 11 was offered when launching in version 4+64 GB and 4+128 GB at respective prices of € 199.90 and € 249.90. It is available in three colors: twilight blue, graphite gray and heavenly azure. But at the beginning of 2023, it is possible to find it even cheaper in some sellers. The opportunity to take advantage of the characteristics of the smartphone that remain interesting and “in the blow”.

Redmi Note 11 64 GB at the best price basic price: € 199

What the Redmi Note 11 looks like ?

It’s very simple and it is checked in our test: The Redmi Note 11 is not a price. For only € 200, we have a smartphone that clearly does not have to be ashamed of the design side. Admittedly, we are entitled to a plastic chassis-this one is of good quality, it does not crack and the back is surmounted by a mat cover which allows it to pretend to be a higher-end material that it are not.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

The smartphone finish as shown in our Redmi Note 11 test is impeccable. The almost straight edges give it an undeniable cachet inspired by the most popular smartphones of the moment, and that improves its handling. In addition, it is light with only 179 g and it will therefore quickly be forgotten in a pants pocket. We even have the right to a 3.5 mm jack and biometric safety side, we find a fingerprint sensor integrated into the standby button.

The Amoled slab is very bright (up to 1000 nits), has the full HD+definition, the colors are shimmering, and the whole is offering with a 90 Hz refresh frequency for more fluid graphics. And for a smartphone at 200 €, it’s unheard of.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

What is the autonomy of the Redmi Note 11 ?

With Android 11 (early 2023, he is entitled to an update which endowed him with Android 13) surmounted by the MAIU 13 overlay and his animations in a mess, coupled at the rate of refreshing at 90 Hz of his screen, we meet with A smartphone that according to our Redmi Note 11 test is extremely pleasant to use, fast, fluid and has nothing to envy to a much higher -end device. And if this high cooling rate gives an increased feeling of fluidity, there is also a rather efficient processor inside (Snapdragon 680).

Admittedly, this is not the most powerful Soc of the moment, far from it, but in use it is doing pretty well. Whether to navigate the applications, scroller on social networks, or even play a few video games, the smartphone is all you need. During our Redmi Note 11 test, we found that very little slowdowns, or not at all. For 200 €, again, it’s a small feat.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

However, it will still be necessary to ask the question of sustainability because if today the smartphone is very capable, its Snapdragon 680 closes the doors of 5G (it is only compatible with 4G). On the performance side, he could also lack reserve in the coming years. But in 2023, it was more than enough for a vast majority of users.

The advantage is that with its modest power and the absence of 5G, the Redmi Note 11 offers excellent autonomy. With its 5,000 mAh battery, we can largely end the day without having to go through the recharge box, even with intensive uses, and we can even make it last up to 2 days with more moderate uses.

And to top it all, we also have a fast load at 33 W, which makes it possible to fully fulfill the battery of the Redmi Note 11 in just over an hour. Casually, smartphones sold for € 1,000 more expensive do not even offer a charger block in the box, while the Redmi Note 11 is entitled to a charger of 33 W to take advantage of the fast load.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

How is the Redmi Note 11 in Photo ?

Generally, this is the point that fishes on entry -level smartphones. Except that, against all odds, this Redmi Note 11 is also doing rather well on the photo of the photo. The smartphone has four sensors at the rear, housed in a photo block with a rather conventional look.

Note that in reality, the smartphone may offer four sensors, you will only use two. The main one, a high angle of 50 Mp, gives rather convincing results with beautiful colors and a good dive. The ultra high angle of 8 Mp is very correct in broad daylight, but it will start to show its limits as soon as the light will miss.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

As for the other two sensors, they are almost there for the decoration. The MP macro sensor is not bad in itself but it will only be used very rarely and the last sensor, which is used to calculate the depth of field (and which also rises to 2 MP), will be used above all to improve certain effects Like the subject of the subject in portrait mode, for example. Finally, at the front, we can count on a Selfie 13 Mp sensor which gives very suitable results.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

In this Redmi Note 11 test, we found that the device offered frankly satisfactory results in terms of photo. Do not be mistaken: we are far from the level of a high -end smartphone, but for the price, we clearly have it for our money, and the photo paraphernalia of the Redmi Note 11 will be more than enough to immortalize your best moments. And your worst too. Not jealous.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi updated its range of entry -level smartphones with, including the Redmi Note 11. Sold below 200 euros, this smartphone promises everything that is found on high -end: high cooling rate, fast load, 50 megapixel camera. To find out if he keeps his promises, we have tested this smartphone on a daily basis for several weeks.

For this test, we received the 64 GigaCtet version of the Redmi Note 11 Color Color “Graphite Graphite”. Xiaomi continues to include the charger in the box, which is appreciable, especially at this rate. Especially since it is a 33 Watts Watts charger . No headphones, but a USB USB A to USB C cable and a transparent flexible transparent plastic shell . The quality is quite correct and the shell is more than enough if you don’t want to buy anything else. However, we have been frustrated enough by a small detail that some will like or hate: a small protective cap for the USB socket is integrated, but it does not fall back easily. Impossible for us to connect the device without using both hands.

If we do without the shell, the back of the phone is plastic. It is not a surprise at this price. However, it is mat and therefore avoids fingerprints; It does not tend to slip if you put it on a wobbly table.

A superb screen for entry -level

The screen is Amoled, which is not always the case on entry -level products often equipped with LCD LCD cheaper. By default, the color scheme is set to intense, which tends to saturate everything. Better to change it for the standard option.

The punch hole is a question of personal taste. He does not interfere for videos since on a 20: 9 th display, videos in 16: 9 th will have bars anyway on each side. The hole is placed in the middle, which disturbs less in the notification bar, and allows Xiaomi to offer two access. Open the bar to the left of the front camera to display the notifications, open the bar on the right and the smartphone displays the fast shortcuts. It’s pretty practical !

Fluid performance and stereo sound

On the performance side, the Snapdragon Snapdragon 680 is not the most powerful of processor processors, but it still offers good performance on this range of devices. The Redmi Note 11 obtains a score of 7.534 with the benchmark benchmark pcmark work 3.0, which simulates common tasks. This places it at the level of an OPPO A54 5G 5G or a northern OnePlus 2, and therefore means good responsiveness for daily use. 3D tasks, like games, are not the strong point of this processor. However, this smartphone allows you to play games like Mobile PUBG with the Low Definition Textures Textures Pack Pack.

For audio, the Redmi Note 11 is equipped with stereo speakers, which is appreciable. The device offers a largely sufficient volume volume. On the other hand, for quality, it is a smartphone, so, even if it remains correct, it will never be worth an external speaker. Xiaomi had the good idea to keep the jack, therefore, it will not be necessary to buy a Bluetooth helmet.

A little dull photos but a big autonomy

For the camera, you should not expect miracles. Xiaomi announces 50 megapixels, but the device does not use them by default. On the contrary, he uses the Pixel Binning, To combine the pixels four per four. We therefore obtain photos of 12 megapixels. By zooming 100 %, we get a good level of details for nearby objects. For objects more than a few meters, the quality quickly becomes quite poor. Unlike many devices, the Redmi Note 11 does not saturate the colors. On the contrary, they are even a little dull and the photos seem washed out. It is kind of a shame. But, at this price, the quality remains completely correct. Same observation for selfies, but the camera manages the counter day very well.

A little dull colors and a lack of details, especially on distant objects. © Futura

The Redmi has a large autonomy autonomy with a 5 battery.000 mAh, and the promise is held. Xiaomi announces 22 hours of video reading or 43 hours of call. In fact, he lasts two days between two charges with frequent but reasonable use. We also tested the device with the application application PCMARK work 3.0, simulates different tasks, such as web browsing, publishing photos and videos, document management. With the screen set on a 90 Hz Hz refreshment rate, which reduces autonomy, we still obtained 16 hours and 16 minutes, which is an excellent score.

For recharging, the block provided of 33 Watts allows a complete recharging in just one hour and seven minutes. It only takes 26 minutes for half a charge.

Futura’s opinion

At less than 200 euros, the Redmi Note 11 is not likely to compete with flagships other brands. However, for this market segment, it has many assets. Despite slightly dull photos, quality is more than enough for social networks social networks . The arrival of AMOLED screens with a high refresh rate on the entry level is a real plus. As a purpose, the value for money is excellent.

WE love

  • The AMOLED screen
  • The 90 Hz refreshment rate
  • The sound in stereo
  • Fast charge
  • A physical fingerprint reader

We don’t like

  • The absence of 5G
  • The colors of the washed -out photos
