Samsung: why the Galaxy has the comparison with the Galaxy S

“I need a smartphone with the best autonomy”
What you need : The Galaxy A70

What Samsung smartphone to buy: Galaxy A, Galaxy S or Note (2019) ?

Between the Galaxy A and the Galaxy S, the limit has never been as tenuous as in 2019. Even if Samsung flagships have been further improved, Galaxy A have changed very strongly. So much so that it is sometimes not necessary to opt for a galaxy s, according to uses and needs.

Which Samsung smartphone to buy: Galaxy A, Galaxy S or Note (2019)?

In 2019, Samsung presented many smartphones. Unlike 2018, the firm catalog breaks down into two ranges. The high -end, represented by the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Note (without forgetting the Galaxy Fold). And the rest, covered by the prolific Galaxy family has. The latter reinstated the Galaxy J which covered the low cost and ultra low cost segments. Some Galaxy has, however, perpetuate the work carried out by the Galaxy J: Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A20e, especially.

The best smartphones in the Galaxy A range are sometimes so qualitative that they eclipse the Galaxy S. The most blatant example is the Galaxy A90 5G. Unpublished in France, it is the most economical 5G smartphone in Samsung. It is however equipped with a high-end platform, based on the Snapdragon 855 of Qualcomm. Previously, Samsung would have preferred to dedicate this new connectivity to its high -end terminals. Sometimes the Galaxy has even incorporate unprecedented technologies in galaxy S or galaxy note, such as screens without hole or notch.

Naturally, flagships retain certain advantages still unpublished in the Galaxy range has. The integration of the S-PEN touch stylus. Plus qualitative Dynamic AMOLED screens. The Exynos 9820 chipset whose performance is comparable to those of the Snapdragon 855. Photo sensors with variable opening lens. However, the exclusives of the high -end are fewer and fewer. Hence the question that motivated the realization of this guide: should we always turn to the high end at Samsung ?

The answer is no. Without evoking the question of the price, the Galaxy has sometimes offer a sharper experience to fill certain uses or certain needs. Autonomy, design, screen size, the Galaxy has competed in good intentions. But the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note do not demerit. So here is our choice.

“I am a film buff”
What you need : The Galaxy A80

The Galaxy A80 has several interests. But its main assets contribute to a single goal: to offer the largest possible screen, without a hole or again to disturb this touch space. The Galaxy A80 is the only model in the Samsung catalog to respond to this characteristic. The Super Amoled slab measures 6.7 inches, one of the largest sizes among the 2019 models.

To offer this visibility without discomfort, the webcam has not been moved: it has been deleted. To take selfies, the user slides part of the chassis down and the main photo block, composed of a double 48+8 megapixel sensor and a flight time camera, turns to move towards him. The mobile technical platform is positioned premium: Snapdragon 730, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and battery 3700 mAh. The imprint reader is located on the screen.

“I need a smartphone with the best autonomy”
What you need : The Galaxy A70

The smartphone with the best autonomy at Samsung in 2019 is unprecedented in France. This is the Galaxy M30s, with a gargantuan battery of 6000 mAh. Among the models offered in France, the smartphone offering the largest battery is the Galaxy A70. Its capacity reaches 4500 mAh, against 4300 mAh for the Galaxy Note 10+. Note that the Galaxy S10 5G also has a 4500 mAh battery, but its chipset is more greedy. Autonomy is therefore less interesting.

The Galaxy A70 is also one of the largest smartphones in Samsung. The size of its Super Amoled touch screen is 6.7 inches, despite a notch present on the upper border. Its platform is very balanced (neither too powerful nor too narrow). It is made up of a Snapdragon 675, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage (expandable by microsdxc). Its photo block has three 32+8+5 megapixel sensors. Its webcam has a definition of 32 megapixels, the best at Samsung this year.

“I work a lot on my smartphone”
What you need : The Galaxy Note 10

If you are a professional whose activity asks you to be often on the move, you must certainly work a lot on your smartphone. To satisfy this need, the note range is ideal. For three reasons. First because the screens are very large there. Then because the platforms are robust. Finally, because there is the S-Pen. This year, the touch stylus is not only Bluetooth, but equipped with an accelerometer and a gyroscope making it even more precise.

We recommend here the Galaxy Note 10, against the Galaxy Note 10+, for two reasons. First of all because the screen is less defined (Full HD+), so less gourmet in resources. Then because it is much cheaper. However, the note 10+ also offers advantages: a larger screen, a battery of greater capacity compatible with a stronger fast charging power. However, this does not necessarily justify the price difference.

“I am an informed photographer”
What you need : The Galaxy Note 10+

Photography has always been a strong point of the Galaxy S for a long time. In 2018, Huawei shaken Samsung’s confidence. But the Korean brand remains one of the best, placing the Galaxy Note 10+ in fourth position in the DXOMARK ranking (at a time when we write these lines). It is the best, in front of the Galaxy S10 5G and the Galaxy S10+.

It is equipped with three 12+12+16 megapixel photo sensors and a flight time camera. The two 12 megapixel sensors are stabilized and equipped with phase detection autofocus. And the second is placed behind a 2x zoom telephoto lens. The rest of the technical sheet includes an exynos 9820, 12 GB of RAM (there is no more at Samsung now), 256 GB of storage, a battery of 4300 mAh, a webcam of 10 megapixels (with autofocus) and two stereo speakers, among others. Without forgetting the new generation S-PEN.

“I am looking for a powerful and compact phone”
What he does to you: The Galaxy S10E

If you are looking for a smartphone whose screen size is less than 6 inches, you will have the choice between several models in the Galaxy A range (including the amazing Galaxy A40) and the Galaxy S10E. If you are looking for a versatile, powerful and very qualitative smartphone, you will only have one choice: the Galaxy S10E. And it’s no longer a bad choice. Because, despite the letter “E” in its name which describes it as lightened version of the Galaxy S10, the Galaxy S10E does not deserve. On the contrary.

It is equipped with the excellent 12 inch photo sensor with stabilized lens with variable opening that you find in note 10 or S10. He also takes up the 10 megapixel webcam from his big brothers. It also has the efficient exynos 9820 chipset, with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Its screen is Dynamic AMOLED and displays a Full HD definition+. His fingerprint reader is cleverly placed on the right edge. Its 3100 mAh battery is fast, wireless and inverted load compatible. And it is much cheaper than the Galaxy S10.

Samsung: why the Galaxy has the comparison with the Galaxy S

Technology: The new smartphones in the Galaxy A series of Samsung are well shocking in the face of their elders in the Galaxy S series. The writing of ZDNET tells you why.

Samsung: why the Galaxy has the comparison with the Galaxy S

After a highly anticipated event held this Wednesday, Samsung announced a trio of new mid -range phones. The three devices are the successors of models from last year, with new features and capacities while retaining very affordable prices. The Galaxy A52 will cost 349 euros, the Galaxy A52 5G will be sold at 429 euros while the Galaxy A72 will be marketed at 449 euros. These three models are cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S21 range, launched in January.

The Galaxy line has always fulfilled the role of a cheaper alternative to the flagship line of Samsung without sacrificing too much in terms of performance. To take into account the price difference, Samsung has generally made concessions in terms of equipment. Whether it is the screen, the processor or the camera, the corners have been cut. But looking at the technical sheet of new phones after their announcement, it is increasingly difficult to see what characteristics have been sacrificed by the Korean manufacturer to make its new smartphones.

Of course, two of the three new phones do not have 5G, but for some, it is a questionable point. In fact, it is on its range of flagship smartphones, the galaxy s, that the Korean saved. Take the example of the S21 and its lack of expandable storage space with the removal of the microSD card location. This is a characteristic to which Samsung users and fans are attached, not only as a useful tool, but also as a discussion point when comparing Samsung phones to Apple iPhone, or Even competing Android phones.

Not enough to blush

The three new models in series A are always compatible with the microSD card, which allows you to add up to 1 TB of additional storage. And what to say that Samsung no longer provides a charger with the Galaxy S21 range ? Guess what comes with the Galaxy A52, the Galaxy A52 5G and the Galaxy A72 ? A charger. Samsung Pay on the Galaxy S21 has lost its exclusive and useful MST function, which allowed the phone to deceive credit card readers by making believe that a card had been slipped. Instead, Galaxy S21 owners will only have access to NFC terminals.

This is not the case for the three models announced today, each of them having the NFC and MST function listed on the technical sheet as a mobile payment option. It is curious that Samsung has decided to get rid of some of the functions that have rendered its Galaxy S phones so attractive, while the company has left these same functions in a more affordable range.

One thing is clear. The range of Samsung smartphones was already confused, if we are based on the number of phones sold. The Galaxy A52, the Galaxy A52 5G and the Galaxy A72 only added to this, but not only because they are additional phones in the range, but because of the experience they offer. Questions still remain on the performance and image quality of these smartphones, but the fact remains that these are not enough to blush in the face of smartphones in the Galaxy S series.

Samsung presented its new Galaxy A52, A52 5G and A72 smartphones. Mid -range smartphones that could.
