When you use the double sim, keep in mind the following points:
- The “Wi-Fi calls” option must be activated for a line, so that the latter can receive calls while the other is being called. If you receive a call on one line while the other is in call and no Wi-Fi network is available, the iPhone uses cellular data in use to receive the ‘Call of the other line. Fees may apply. To receive a call from the other line, that in appeal must have the authorization to use data in the cellular data settings (as a default line or as a line which is by default with the option “authorize the switching of cellular data” activated).
- If you do not activate “Wi-Fi calls” for a line, all incoming calls on this line (including those from help) are directly directed to voicemail (if your operator offers it) when the other line is in use. You do not receive missed call notifications. If you configure a conditional call referral (if your operator offers it) from one line to the other when a line is occupied or out of service, calls are not redirected to voicemail; Contact your operator to obtain configuration instructions.
- If you make a call from another device, like your Mac, by relaying it via an iPhone with Double SIM, the call has made with the default line for the voice.
- If you start an SMS/MMS messages conversation with a line, you cannot switch the conversation to the other line; You must delete the conversation and start a new one using the other line. In addition, additional costs may be invoiced if you send attachments to SMS/MMS on the line which is not that chosen for cellular data.
- Instant Hotspot and connection sharing features use the selected line for cellular data.
The double sim on iPhone, how it works ?
The arrival of ESIM in our Tel4b Mobile offer is very good news for very numerous iPhone users in the pro world. It allows them to finally take advantage of the double sim.
Indeed, at Apple, the operation of the double SIM requires at least one ESIM since the manufacturer has never planned 2 SIM locations on its iPhone. Please note, ESIM on iPhone is accessible from XS and XR models.
The double sim, what is it for ?
Personally & pro on the same mobile
The main interest is that it allows you to benefit from your professional line and personal line on the same phone. The settings make it possible to give priority to one or the other depending on the use (calls, SMS, data, etc.) and to choose manually when making a call for example.
1 French package & 1 local package abroad for data
The second interest of the double SIM is to activate a local “data” package during stays abroad to continue to take advantage of the calls on the main package without risking off-form on data consumption. A package with a minimum of calls of calls but a comfortable data envelope subscribed abroad will be always more interesting than the off-form of the French subscription.
At least one esim to take advantage of the double sim on iPhone
The iPhone do not have two locations for two physical sims (except on certain models reserved for the Chinese market). So, the double sim on iPhone is necessarily a nano sim + an esim or two esim.
Configure and use the double sim
Some tips and things to know to understand the operation of an iPhone with the double SIM:
- The 2 sims cannot work at the same time. For example, if you have a current call with your main number, if you are called on your secondary number, your interlocutor will be immediately redirected to your voicemail.
- Once you have scanned the ESIM QR Code and added a second package, we advise you to rename the two packages between which you will alternate, personally and pro for example.
- You must define the main number and secondary number so that there is necessarily one that is used by default, without you having to choose with each use.
- From iOS 13, you can also define the main number for Imessage and FaceTime.
- You can also define a default number for calls and default number for using data.
- For data, it is possible to authorize the switch from one package to another depending on the signal power. For this, the change in cellular data must be authorized for this.
- For calls, when you call a number for the first time, the default number is used but you can modify it before making the call. Then the iPhone uses the last number used directly to reach a number. You can also define the number to use contact by contact in your directory.
- If the operator of your main number does not allow WiFi calls (VOWIFI), you can allow the use of your secondary number, which uses it VOWIFI, to answer incoming calls when you are connected to a network Wireless. This requires authorizing the change in cellular data.
