How to share albums in photos on your iPhone, iPad and Mac

If you use previous versions of iOS, iCloud for Windows, Iphoto or Aperture, you can always create and consult shared albums. Under the anterior versions of iOS, macOS, Tvos and iCloud for Windows, the Shared Album Functionality was called sharing of iCloud photos.

Before you start

Activate shared albums

• On your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, go to settings> [your name]> iCloud> Photos, then activate albums.
• On your Mac, open the photo app. In the menu bar located at the top of the screen, choose photos> settings. Under macOS Monterey or previous version, choose photos> Preferences. Click on the iCloud tab, then select Shared albums.
• On your Apple TV, access settings> Users and accounts> iCloud and activate shared albums.

Create a shared album

1. Access the album tab and touch the addition button .
2. Touch new shared album .
3. Give a name to the shared album, then touch Next.
4. Choose the people you want to invite from your contacts or enter an email address or iMessage phone number.

Remove a shared album

1. Open the shared album.
2. Touch the people button .
3. Touch Remove the Shared Album.

Add photos and videos to a shared album

1. In the photo library tab or from an album, touch Select, then select the photos and videos you want to share.
