Orange TV decoder: a new more compact TV decoder

There Livebox 4, Released in 2016, was accompanied by the TV 4 decoder. Of the same size and the same design as the Internet case, this decoder had latest generation features.

Orange decided 2 years later, with the Livebox 5, to review your copy, and to design a brand new TV decoder, called UHD TV decoder. It takes up the main characteristics of its predecessor, with a more powerful processor, new features and above all a whole new format.

Indeed, while the TV 4 decoder had for dimensions 215 x 215 x 50 mm, the dimensions of the new UHD decoder are 126 x 126 x 30 mm, a real slim cure. The weight was divided by 4, from 990 g for the TV 4 decoder, at 250 g for the UHD TV decoder.

External hard drive

To obtain a decoder four times lighter, Orange simply removed the 240 GB hard drive that included the TV 4 decoder.

The fact that no hard drive is integrated into the decoder does not mean the no possibility of recording TV programs. Orange offers an external hard drive that is fitted below the decoder. Available for free with the Livebox Up offer, “UHD TV recorder” has a 450 GB storage capacity, which corresponds to 200 hours of HD video.

Connectivity

Orange UHD TV decoder is satisfied with the essentials with regard to connectivity. It has two USB ports, 1 USB 2 port.0 which is on the front side, and 1 USB C 3 port.0 on the back of the decoder. An HDMI port at the rear of the decoder provides the TV flow to your TV. Finally, an Ethernet port allows you to connect the decoder to the Livebox (even if a WiFi link is possible).

Light

On a UHD TV decoder’s stop is located a light diode. This diode lights up in different colors, and aims to inform the subscriber of the activity of the decoder: on, in standby, non -functional ..

4K HDR and Dolby Atmos

The second novelty is the presence of a microphone inside the remote control. Activable from the “micro” key, it activates a voice assistant, called Djingo, in order to pilot the UHD TV decoder from the voice.

The interface and TV services of the UHD Orange decoder

Orange also offers a catalog of video games, streaming on the internet. You can notably play Mad Max, Asphaslt 8, Assassin’s Creed, UNO, the great Lego adventure … In total, it’s more than 200 games to play on your TV Livebox 4. Djingo

Thanks to the vocal remote control of the UHD TV decoder, it will be possible very soon to interact with a vocal assistant: Djingo. This new feature is not yet available.

In the meantime, it is possible to interact with your decoder thanks to the voice directly from the Orange TV mobile application.

TV offer and orange bouquets

By subscribing to a Livebox or Livebox Up offer, you benefit from a TV bouquet of 160 channels, including a selection in HD and replay. This bouquet includes basic channels, that is to say TNT, regional channels and some thematic channels.

Optional TV bouquets

For those who are not satisfied with the basic Orange TV offer, the Operator offers many optional paid TV bouquets as an optional optional.

The TV bouquet movie series at € 13/month includes all OCS channels, as well as two additional channels. Orange offers a “max” version at € 21/month without commitment with the set of cinema in addition+.

Orange TV decoder exchange, how to receive Canal+ ?

Maybe you recently changed your old orange decoder For the latest black color model (TV4 or UHD TV) ?

To continue to receive Canal+ on your new orange equipment, you must:

If you subscribe to Canal, you can receive your bouquets, on your Canal +decoder, without any problem.

You have two choices, if subscribed to Canal, to see your channel+ bouquet:

Either go through the orange portal, on your decoder.

Either go through the Canal+portal, by clicking on the Canal+icon, when you are on the orange portal

In both cases, your channels received, come from the internet, via your livebox, and you do not necessarily need to keep a TNT connection, with your roof antenna.

But it will always be useful to you, in the event of an internet cut, to review, all your TNT channels

The only thing, which can prevent you from adding your channel bouquets and channels, on your orange decoder, it is if you have already possessed, other canal+ decoders, because you should not have more than two decorators, per household .
