The Samsung Qe65qn95b TV benefits from a design that puts the image in the spotlight.

The screen is held by a particularly sober foot, in light gray aluminum of a certain weight which is 36 cm wide for 31 cm deep. There are more than 860 zones on the entire slab thus making it possible to control the pixels as precisely as possible and to limit the effects of blooming. These are particularly visible despite everything on the menus, but the effect is very limited in video sequences, which remains a good point. The slab will make it possible to obtain a correct contrast, but offers views of vision much less than those offered by an IPS panel which, for its part, displays less interesting contrasts. The TV is equipped with a fairly powerful anti -reflective filter which limits light sources on the screen in a rather effective way. However, he will be able to do anything against a bay window placed in front of.

The image produced by the Samsung Qe65qn95b TV is very pleasant to the eye with a scaling that is extremely efficient in order to appreciate sources with a lower definition than the ultra HD. In the latter case, the sequences displayed are beautiful with an excellent dive and a certain dynamism. However, it must be admitted that the image is less ” alive “That on the S95B which benefits from a QD-Oled slab. We sometimes have the impression that the scenes are not too flat, lacking in depth on certain sequences, where, on the S95B, there is more relief. This is clearly noticed on documentaries, for example, with landscaped decorations. The gray areas are very well treated and the system is effective in the management of clear parts compared to those which are darker. This is verified very well when viewing sequences in Gemini man, For example when the two protagonists fight in the lowlands of the city. The outdoor scenes in the city during the chase are sublime.

The grain on the image remains limited, which is a good thing especially on the few interior scenes of Top Gun: Maverick where the show is total. The fluidity of images is truly excellent with very good treatment, especially for fast scenes and sporting events, for example.

Color gradients are also very well rendered, soft and pleasant. The very good sources are exceptionally well treated, while the less good are as appreciable.

The TV offers several image modes: dynamic, standard, cinema and filmmaker. It is the latter that allows you to obtain the best results.

The TV test was carried out with the 1304 version of the firmware. In filmmaker mode, we were able to measure an average delta e of 2.06 which is very good, corresponding to so -called faithful colors since it is necessary below the threshold of 3 so that the human eye no longer arrives at make the difference between the requested color and that displayed on the screen. The average color temperature is 6551 k, which is excellent, because very close to the target value which is 6,500 k.

The average gamma could be measured, still in filmmaker mode at the cardboard, at 2.1 which is slightly lower than the expected value, of 2.4 in dark viewing conditions. If the curve is well followed for the most intense gray values, the clearest are more overexposed than they should be.

Regarding the contrast, we were able to measure an average rate of 4350: 1. As mentioned a little higher, the Blooming effect is especially visible around menus and sometimes subtitles in films and series, but much more limited in the video sequences themselves.

For the brightest content, the TV supports HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ formats always ignoring the Dolby Vision. Again, it was in filmmaker that we were able to obtain the best results for our measurements. Thus, the Middle Delta was noted at 1.31, much below the threshold of 3. We can therefore consider that the colors returned by the television are faithful, even if the most demanding will try to achieve an even better result after a calibration phase.

While some colleagues have been able to find very significant differences between the brightness peaks obtained with sights of different sizes, after the update of Samsung, we have not noticed this phenomenon on our test model. We tried with sights at 5 %, 7 %, 8 %, 9 %, 12 %and 15 %in addition to our standard sight of 10 %. The differences in brightness peak varied from a few CD/m² only. Thus, in filmmaker mode on a 10 %sight, we measured a brightness peak of 1880 cd/m². This figure is much higher than the brightness peaks offered by the best OLED televisions that cap at 1000 cd/m² and makes us say that the Samsung Qn95B is recommended for use in the middle of the day or in an enlightened room. The curves are well followed, even if that of the EOTF wins slightly from 40 % to follow the reference line all the same. Ditto for the luminance curve.

Finally, concerning the coverage of the Colorimetric Space Rec709 for TV programs, the TV gets 99.7 %. For colorimetric spaces DCI-P3 and BT 2020, the Samsung’s Qn95B series offers respective values ​​of 93.3 % and 70 %, which is completely correct, even if the OLED TVs offer higher figures.

We have briefly mentioned a little higher, but the Qn95B TV is an ally of choice for players. He notably embeds 4 HDMI 2 entries.1 Supporting the latest technologies for muscular PCs and game consoles, including VRR and Allm.

He also accepts ultra HD signals up to 120 Hz and displays the game bar inaugurated last year to allow you to modify some settings, depending on the game we play. This game bar is available by pressing the Reading/Pause button on the remote control button for 3 seconds.

Concerning the delay time for display or Input Lag, We have noted a period of 9.8 ms which is very good, corresponding to less than a delay image between the moment when the player presses the button on the controller and the action takes place on the screen. It’s almost as good as the latest TV LG C1, G1, C2, G2 and Samsung S95B, Q80A, but also that the Panasonic LZ2000 (9.3 ms). Finally, note that the colorimetry in game mode is not very faithful, but a little more than the previous years since we were able to measure an average delta e of 7.24.
