Rechargeable hybrid version of the Toyota Prius, the Toyota Prius hybrid rechargeable, called Prius Prime in the US, will be marketed in Europe in early 2017. It will offer up to 50 kilometers of autonomy in 100 % electric mode.
Rechargeable hybrid Toyota PRIUS
In order to stand out from its hybrid sister, the Toyota Prius hybrid rechargeable is entitled to a specific design. This is characterized by a new front side with horizontal optics made up of four LEDs. In the back, the optics extends over the entire tailgate.
Inside, implementation of the battery pack requires, the rechargeable hybrid prius sees its reduced capacity at only 4 passengers.
Characteristics and performance of the Prius Plug-in
The rechargeable hybrid prius keeps the same engine configuration as the standard version with a 1 heat engine.8 l of 98 horsepower coupled with an electric block of 72 hp for a combined power of 122 horsepower.
Rechargeable Prius battery and autonomy
Range to 8.8 kWh, the capacity of the lithium-ion battery of the rechargeable hybrid is twice that of the first generation rechargeable prius rechargeable hybrid.
Capable of driving up to 135 km/h in electric mode, it claims up to 50 kilometers of real autonomy (63 km NEDC) with a charging time of the order of 3:10 on a standard domestic socket.
Consumption of the PRIUS TOYOTA PHARGEABLE
In NEDC cycle, the Toyota Prius hybrid rechargeable is announced at 1 l/100km, or 22 g CO2/km. A value that will obviously depend on the course and the state of charge of the battery.
Rechargeable hybrid Toyota Prius Prix
In France the rechargeable hybrid prius is available in a single level of finish and its price begins from 36.900 € excluding ecological and superbonus bonus.

Finally, we took the wheel of the new Toyota Prius hybrid rechargeable
For the fifth chapter of its history, the Toyota Prius left a white sheet. New line, new motorization, the Japanese rebuilds a health !
- Good performance
- Busily progress chassis
- Easy braking dosage
- Sufficient electrical autonomy
- Too many buttons on the steering wheel
- Trunk missing really height
- Roof guard at the back for large
- Readability of meters for some
For more than 25 years, the Toyota Prius has especially been seeking to be sober and habitable, but less to seduce its buyers. It has not been too bad for him since he still sold more than 5 million copies around the world since 1997. But the one who has democratized the hybrid has now a sacred competition, including internally with the Corolla, C-HR, Yaris Cross, Rav 4… To get off on the right foot, Toyota therefore refined the style of her new Prius. If it retains its monovolume profile with the very tilted windshield in the extension of the plunging hood in order to promote aerodynamics, the proportions have changed well compared to the previous generation. Shorter and lower by 5 cm, it has also widened by 2 cm in order to better sit its position on the road. At the same time, its increased wheelbase of 5 cm strengthens its more stocky side. You can even see a bit of sportiness in this line evoking a 4 -door coupé, with rear handles hidden in the amounts.
In tune with this unprecedented dress, this Prius announces a very high increase with its 223 cumulative hp, against only 122 hp before. But there is an explanation for this, since the news is now necessarily hybrid rechargeable, and with the 4 -cylinder thermal 2 cylinder.0… at least with us in Europe. Because in Japan and the US, it will also continue to be offered in non -rechargeable hybrid, and in two variants: one 1.8 of 140 hp, and a 2.0 from 196 hp. The Japanese is therefore trying to raise its prius upmarket by offering only the high rechargeable version. And with this much higher power, the sedan actually changes a category in terms of performance. Its 13.6 kWh li-ion battery (approximately 10 kWh usable) feeds an electric motor of 163 hp in peak, that is to ensure solid accelerations in zero emission or to drive, according to Toyota, 69 km without starting the thermal With a full battery (load in about 4 hours on a wallbox with the 3.5 kW on -board charger). If we have rather made a big fifty kilometers before the 4-cylinder wakes up, the autonomy in zero emission will normally be sufficient for the majority of home-work trips.
A clearly increased driving pleasure
Then the 2.0 Bi-Injection with Atkinson cycle (gas relaxation race longer than compression that of improving yield, announced reach 41 % in certain phases) starts in a very discreet way and adds its strength. To the point that on damp bitumen, traction control has a little job to pass the 223 hp on the ground. Toyota also announces a 0 to 100 km /h performed in just 6.7 s, but we have even appreciated the really very toned recovery to be safe in complete safety. What to approach the secondary network with much more approval than previous generations, especially since on the chassis side it is a bit the same trend. More direct direction, small steering wheel (Peugeot way with the counters placed above sometimes complicating their visibility or driving position), and more catchy front axle now deliver good driving sensations. Without forgetting a recalibration of the electro-hydraulic braking system now making the left pedal easy to dose, with a natural touch, which is rare on electrified. Just miss a “one pedal” mode. In short, we are far from the limited driving approval of the previous generations.
Several modes depending on the use
Of course, in the case where the accelerator is crushed, transmission by Epicycloidal train with CVT effect (variator) inevitably increases the 2.0 in the towers. But apart from this case, this petrol block remains fairly low in diet, and most of the time almost inaudible. This change in conduct philosophy should not, however, prevent this prius from continuing to be very sober battery emptied, which we will not fail to check upon arrival next summer. And to best adapt to all types of uses, it offers several operating modes. “EV” imposes the electric rolling as long as there is enough energy in the battery, before automatically switching in hybrid (HV mode), which maintains the level of load if it is started manually. “Auto EV/HV” is a mode automatically choosing between electric and hybrid depending on road conditions and route, And aims, if you have recorded a destination, to optimize the use of the battery in order to reach the minimum threshold at the stage.
Finally, a support of three seconds on the EV/HV button triggers the battery recharging mode, which is consuming much more, but allows you to go up the load level for a possible zero emission to come to come. Finally, if the family aspects have not been completely neglected, with fairly gradual suspensions despite the 19 -inch wheels, and rear passengers enjoying additional 5 cm of wheelbases, the lowered pavilion may however become embarrassing to Heads for more than 1.80 m. However, this prius fishing side chest, with only 284 dm3 announced, and a height limited to only 35 cm because of the tank placed under its floor, because the battery took its place under the rear seat. Too bad for families … who will still have to pay at least € 45,000 to afford it, to be confirmed in May at the time of marketing.
