What to look at OCS, now that there are no longer the HBO STAPS SERIES 

OCS has experienced a big loss since January 1, 2023: around sixty series of the HBO channel has just left, partially or fully, its catalog. The fault of the expiration of an exclusive distribution contract that the French platform had established for years with the American group.

What could be more exciting than discovering a very good mini-series ?

It is not a long journey, like the most famous series that are available in six or seven seasons, creating a universe that absorbs you, and sometimes even a form of addiction.

David Simon, creator of The Wire and The Deuce, returns with a adapted miniseries of the novel by Philip Roth. The Plot Against America imagines an alternative story of America where aviator Charles Lindbergh, xenophobic and populist national hero, was elected president of the United States in 1940, plunging the country into fascism. The series follows these political upheavals through the fate of a Jewish family in New Jersey.

Ruby Richardson flees her ordinary life to find her youthful love at Grand Central Station (New York). 17 years earlier they had concluded a pact where they undertook to disappear together if one of them sent a simple text with the word “run”.

Adapted from Wally Lamb’s novel, I Know This Much is True is a family drama exploring several periods of the life of two twins embodied by Mark Ruffalo, one of which is suffering from mental disorders.

Part 1: “summer” – Sam (Jude Law) arrives on a mysterious island off the British coast. He meets resolved islanders there to preserve their lifestyle and their sometimes very strange traditions.

The story is centered on a renowned therapist, Grace Sachs (Kidman). Hugh Grant embodies Jonathan Sachs, renowned pediatrician, dedicated husband whose past will be examined closely when he suddenly disappears.

Donald Sutherland embodies Grace’s father, Franklin Renner: a retired financier and a loving grandfather, responsible for protecting his family when tumultuous revelations are emerging.

Mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet) is detective in a small town in Pennsylvania. While her private life is sense below, she is entrusted with an investigation into a murder committed in the region.

Each episode of this anthological series tells a unique story with new characters.

What to look at OCS, now that there are no longer the HBO STAPS SERIES ?

About sixty quality series from the HBO private channel has disappeared from OCS. The French platform, however, keeps some arguments in its catalog. Here are some productions that are still on ocs.

OCS has experienced a big loss since January 1, 2023: around sixty series of the HBO channel has just left, partially or fully, its catalog. The fault of the expiration of an exclusive distribution contract that the French platform had established for years with the American group.

HBO, through the Warner group, however has other expansion projects – we are talking about a SVOD platform that would host its programs, without still knowing if it will be called HBO Max or will have another denomination.

It would be hypocritical to assert that the OCS catalog is still as interesting on January 1, 2023 as before: the French Subscription Video Platform (SVOD) was a reference in terms of qualitative series. True Detective, Westworld, Watchmen, Soprano, The Wire, Game of Thrones… Many series have now disappeared. But, at a time when SVOD’s different services are increasing, it is very likely that French and French must accept that their favorite series and films are found in different places, on different platforms.

For 10.99 euros per month, OCS becomes quite expensive compared to the 8.99 euros of Disney+ or Netflix. But, its catalog still contains beautiful productions that are worth a look. Here is a sample.

House of the Dragon

We no longer present House of the Dragon, The spin-off of Game Of Thrones who rocked the world of series in the fall of 2022. The 10 episodes of the HBO show are still available – and very highlighted by OCS, since she unfortunately lost the rights of her big sister.
