The sales are defined as supported or preceded sales of advertising and announced as tending, by a price reduction, to the flow of goods in stock.

Summer 2023

Summer sales take place from Wednesday June 28, 2023 at 8 a.m. to Tuesday August 1, 2023, except local regulations (see below). The start of summer sales in the Alpes-Maritimes is now aligned with the national date.

They concern new or used goods. The stock must be constituted beforehand and cannot be renewed during the operation. The resale at a loss is accepted during the sales periods. Merchants are subject to bonds concerning the products sold and the display of prices in promotion.

As a reminder, law n ° 2014-626 of June 18, 2014 relating to crafts, trade and very small businesses has changed the regulations relating to the sales. The system of complementary or “floating balances” has been deleted from January 1, 2015.

Summer sales 2023

For the summer of 2023, the date and start date of the winter sales are set, in accordance with the decree of May 27, 2019 fixing the dates and times of the start of the sales (modified by the decree of April 21, 2023 modifying the start of the sales in the Alpes-Maritimes department in application of article L. 310-3 of the Commercial Code then by the decree of July 6, 2023 extending the duration of summer sales 2023 in application of article L. 310-3 of the Commercial Code), as well as their duration in application of article L. 310-3 of the Commercial Code, From Wednesday June 28, 2023 to Tuesday August 1, 2023, Unless local regulations (see table below).

The dates of the sales

The duration of each sales period is between three and six weeks. The dates are set nationally, with the exceptions provided for in article L310-3 of the Commercial Code, both for traditional trade and for online commerce or distance selling. They must start the same day with regard to summer and winter sales, regardless of the company’s headquarters (for online commerce, in particular).

The winter sales started at 8 am at 8 am on the second Wednesday in January, unless it falls after the 12th, in which case the sales begin on the first Wednesday in January.

As for the summer sales, they start at 8 am on the last Wednesday in June, unless it falls after the 28th, in which case the sales begin the penultimate Wednesday in June.
