Small return to the brand Secretlab who generously sent us one of their new chair. Indeed, the brand invites us to test the Titan Evo XL 2022. Our choice therefore fell on a model with a polyurethane coating in color ” Classic »». In short, what are the new features compared to the 2020 series that we tested at this address ? We tell you everything in a few moments.

Presentation :

At present, the offer of armchairs Secretlab is only based on a single model: the Titan. However, to match all users, this chair is available in several sizes: small, stubborn And XL. You will understand, the seat and the file will be dimensioned according to your size. Thus, if you measure 1.65 m arms raised, clearly, XL will not be addressed to you.

For this 2022 series, the brand rethures its lumbar adjustment system that is now on two axes. Ditto for the cervical cushion and the armrests, but we will come back in more detail in the coming pages.

Like the 2022 series, different materials are on the program. We start with the fabric series called Softweave Plus which is available in Black3, Cookies & Cream, Arctic White (test available on Vonguru)), Plush Pink, Frost Blue And Mint Green. The polyurethane range (baptized Neo) is available in Stealth, Classic, Black, ASH And Royal. Finally, the brand offers us a reference in Nappa leather which is exhausted at the time of writing. To all this is added special editions and series esports For the PU version, i.e. 136 models in all !

Used materials

As you know, we have chosen a hybrid imitation leather version Neo. On it, the brand praises a very resistant material, up to 12 times more than that of competition. From there, we imagine him to last a few years before he starts to crumble … And fortunately, because when we buy a chair from this range, we like not to have to buy it every year.

Apart from that, you can also count on a cold house foam, moreover, the patent is being obtained (SG Pat. App. No. 10202102953r). The brand indicates that it offers an average density to reduce tensions and distribute the weight uniformly.

Finally, we finish with the feet which is in aluminum alloy ADC12. Secretlab indicates that it has adjusted the wheelbase to offer a perfect balance of weight. Finally, the latter is strengthened with a big rib.

The dimensions of Titan Evo XL 2022 “Classic” ::

Very clearly, this Titan Evo XL 2022 is anything but a small armchair and it will be necessary to plan a little room in your office. To the widest, at the level of the armrests therefore, this model displays 69.5 cm to 77.5 cm depending on their position. For its part, the seat displays dimensions of 58 cm (with the edges) and a depth of 50 cm. Finally, the folder displays 56 cm in width against 89 cm high.

Thanks to its cylinder, the seat height may vary from 46 cm to 55.5 cm, a maneuvering room of 9.5 cm. On paper, it’s not huge, but that’s enough to no longer touch the ground (which is not my case of course).

Finally, we will remember the diameter of the foot: 80 cm and the weight of the seat of 37.5 kg, as much to tell you that it makes a beautiful box on arrival !

We have tested Secretlab Titan Evo 2022, a gaming chair that offers many settings, and a multitude of versions to adapt to all tastes. Here is our opinion on this seat.

Secretlab is one of those brands that have been launched around a single product: the gaming chair. On the site, we can read that ” [The founders] had great ambitions: change the gaming chairs industry by creating a seat that combines a magnificent aesthetic with the best materials »».

So we decided to test one of their flagship products, the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 chair. Like all gaming chairs, its starting price is a bit high (569 euros, prices recommended excluding promotion), but this remains in the average of the range of the market. Is it worth it ? This is what we will see here.

A very simple gaming chair to mount

Raising a gaming chair is sometimes a tedious step. Poorly informed, even missing parts, poor quality tools, absent thinning, need to be two … There are many risks. And yet Secretlab does not fall into any of these traps.

By opening the cardboard of the Titan Evo 2022, we discover a very well wrapped chair, maybe even a little too much. Each element is overwound, thus creating a large number of plastic waste, some of which could have been avoidable in 2022. The good point is that the seat is well protected.

Another point that could be more problematic: the notice, very large and well illustrated, is entirely in English. On the one hand, the drawings can be enough for themselves and, on the other hand, type your smartphone on the tag NFC on the folder or scan a QR code on the manual allows access to a mounting video. It must still be seen.

Is this annoying for assembly ? Not really. By essentially following the colorful instructions and looking at the thinning regularly present on the pieces themselves, I was able to set up this Titan Evo 2022 in less than 30 minutes alone. Even the usually the most complex operation – associate the file with a seat – is here simplified by a small rail now the two solidarity pieces while screwing them. Practical.

In the cardboard, the tools are of course provided. There is an Allen in L key, as well as a hand tool with a reversible, cruciform tip on one side and Allen on the other. It’s smart, even if the tip does not fix perfection, but once again not very ecological. Finally, note that the famous glove generally offered with all the office chairs to avoid grease your fingers during assembly is here absent.

A sober and well thought out design

In its black color with Softweave Plus coating (fabric), Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 is rather discreet for a gaming seat. It is not very impressive and its buckets are not huge in comparison with certain competitors. We are therefore rather in the presence of a relatively passout chair. In addition, the many colors available allow him to adapt to all tastes.

On the finishes, there is nothing to complain about, we are clearly in the presence of a seat that aligns with what certain brands offer at a much higher price. For example, no screws are visible once the chair is fully mounted. They are hidden behind covers, in plastic certainly, but magnetic for simplified access and especially so as not to risk breaking a little hut of interlocking.

The only downside of this system is at the level of armrests, magnetic also. When you get up quickly, it sometimes happens that one hangs one of them, who then tends to fly away to cross a part of the room. During the few weeks that this test lasted, the case happened to me multiple times.

The mesh fabric is completed in certain places by a suede coating to create a balanced contrast effect and certain slightly softer areas.

From the top of its 34.5 kg (33.5 kg for the Small and 37.5 kg for the XL), the Titan Evo 2022 is also very stable. The center of gravity is well managed, whatever the inclination – from 85 to 165 °. Even by lengthening the seat and the backrest to the maximum, you can fidget in all directions without fear of going back.

Note that when we mulch the seat a little by moving in all directions, nothing creaks, nothing cracks, everything is fine. Everything is well except perhaps again armrests that tend to be a little soft on their axis and to get a little too much.

All the settings we can dream of

Thanks to its different sizes, the Titan Evo 2022 adapts to almost all morphologies. The Regular model, which we have tested, is very standard. The seat can thus vary from 45 cm high to the lowest at 52 cm at the highest. The minimum is a little high to prevent your knees from rubbing on a standard height desk (75 cm) when you meet the legs, but it is rare that this type of seats drop below.

Otherwise we find the usual tilt settings, both on the file and on the seat. For the seat, it is just a question of activating or blocking the mechanism by the left controller located under the seat. The resistance is nevertheless a little strong and requires to force a little to put the seat in motion. This is reassuring about the stability of the whole, but can ask to take it several times to settle the seat.
