Powerwall is currently one of the best solutions for those who produce solar energy at home and want to optimize their consumption and resell electricity on the electricity network. Or even, without solar panels, to only buy energy in off -peak hours.

The system, associated with a particularly well designed software part, makes it possible to store in a reduced volume enough energy to supply the whole home. Two models were so far on sale: the PowerWall 2, and the PowerWall+ (this last variant being for the moment unavailable in France). Gold The firm has just announced a new version: the Powerwall 3.

As we can see in this comparative table, nominal power remains the same, at 13.5 kWh. However The power that can be returned to output climbs clearly, at 11.5 kWh continuous, While the PowerWall 2 available in France only restores 7 kWh for a limited time.

In other words, The PowerWall 3 delivers more energy in an ultra-compact volume. It remains possible to associate it with other units. However, these must be of the same generation.

The limit goes from 10 units on the PowerWall 2 and 5 units on the PowerWall+ to 3 PowerWall 3 units forming a whole system delivering 40.5 kW maximum. The number of entries for your solar panels also increases significantly.

But the other interest in this new generation is its more integrated design. Indeed, it is enough to go to the garage of a user of PowerWall 2 to note: the battery, alone, is not enough to manage both the conversion of solar energy by alternating current, its storage and the Returned load distribution.

Other boxes must therefore be installed at each installation, including the Gateway Tesla and the inverter which transforms the energy of the solar panels by alternating current. This element is now completely integrated into the PowerWall 3, which should also make it more sustainable. Note however that Tesla had already started to integrate the inverter in the PowerWall+ available since April 2021 in the United States.

Even if the new battery has not yet been entitled to an IP certification, we also know that this resist the floods up to a height of 61 cm. On the availability side, you will still have to wait for a while before you can have a PowerWall 3 in France installed.

Tesla announces a Playing on the course of 2024 -Alas, initially, only in the United States. Since the PowerWall+ is still not available in France more than three years after its release, its rapid arrival in Europe seems unlikely. But we may be entitled to a (good) surprise.
