The development of the new CMF-EV platform is the basis of the Renault Mégane E-Tech 100% electric. It will also be used for other electric models from the manufacturer. According to its designers, the Megane E-Tech Electric has one of the finest batteries of all the models currently available on the market. This makes it possible to free up a lot of space in the passenger compartment despite compact external dimensions. An element of fascinating Renault Electric design is the continuous LIVELIGHTS light strip in LED-Matrix technology. Mr. de Meo, Managing Director of Renault, promises that the new Megane E-Tech Electric will be recognizable at more than 100 meters. Let us be surprised !

With a length of 4.20m, the new E-Tech Mégane Electric is 16cm shorter than the current megane in five-door version. It nevertheless offers enough space for the driver and passengers. The model measures 1.77m wide and 1.51m high. Despite its relatively reduced dimensions, the Renault offers a lot of space inside, which is of course due to its new electric platform. The announced empty weight is 1636 kg. With a very low center of gravity, the battery being installed in the vehicle floor, the handling is excellent. With a maximum payload of 522 kg, the megane can also transport heavier goods.

There remains a lot of free space available in the central console. The excellent disposition of the space is also found in the trunk where you can load 440 liters, or even 1332 liters by folding the rear seat. The Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is therefore a car perfectly suited to weekends outside the city.

The Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is powered by an electric motor located on the front axle which develops a maximum power of 160 kW (218 hp). With a high torque of 300 Nm, the compact car goes from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.5 seconds. Its speed is limited electronically to 160 km/h in order to extend the autonomy. This is nothing embarrassing because the Megane does not want to present itself as a sportswoman.

Battery, autonomy and consumption of

The Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is equipped with a large battery of 60kWh, which gives it an autonomy of 450km according to the WLTP cycle. Average consumption is 16.1kWh/100km. For recharging, the Instadrive Megane is now equipped as standard with the CCS connection which allows you to absorb up to 130 kW of power. While in many competitors, the load in alternating current is only possible in single -phase or maximum in three -phase up to 11kW, the megane can absorb up to 22kW by alternating current. This obviously allows very short charge times, in particular for recharging at home. The new E-Tech Electric mega needs 42 minutes to reach a load of 80% on a fast charger with a maximum power of 130 kW. If you have a three -phase 22 kW take place at home, the Renault is 100% recharged in just 3 hours.
