What is streaming services ?
Streaming services (streaming services), which have become very popular, tend to operate cloud servers in order to provide quality experience (audio or video).
Whether you watch a movie or phone via the Internet, you use a streaming service, or streaming service. These platforms rely on servers in the cloud to deliver quality experience to their user.
Streaming Services: Definition
Streaming, or streaming services services offer online broadcast of movies, television programs, podcasts, games and other media connected to the Internet. The customer receives audio or video files continuously, which the supplier transmits to him as.
Some services broadcast content on many supports such as smart televisions, continuous media receivers, computers, tablets and mobile phones.
Streaming is an alternative to downloading files, a process in which the user obtains the whole file before looking at it or listening to it.
How the streaming services work ?
During a streaming activity, the server that hosts the website connects to another server which sends audio and video data by package via a real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) and a Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP). The device that supports streaming temporarily diffuses these packs of packages which gradually reach it.
Like any type of content, streaming can undergo performance loss depending on the accommodation where it is stored. Content diffusion networks (CDN) are then essential for user experience to be optimal. The platform connects to the closest server, so that they benefit from quality streaming. Not only do these content diffusion networks reduce the loading latency but also they minimize buffer stakes. Indeed, it happens that the connection interrupts briefly during streaming but that the Internet user can continue to read thanks to the buffer memory.
Streaming services generally operate via UDP/IP, a joint transport protocol in the Internet Protocol (IP). This method makes it possible to send data packets faster than with a TCP protocol but takes the risk that certain packages are lost, which has little impact on the user experience.
Cloud computing at the service of streaming
The complexity and volume of online consumption require sophisticated technology. A cloud server allows you to store a large volume of data while offering considerable advantages, such as:
Reduced costs
According to the principle of Pay-As-You-Go, you only pay for what you need and reduce maintenance expenses
A quick deployment
Unlike the on-premise servers, the deployment of a cloud server accelerates the process of setting up and adding storage capacities
Security
A cloud streaming server offers basic security measures such as data encryption, access control, or user authentication. It is particularly important to ensure that these measures are in place when the data in question is protected by copyright, home rights and intellectual property rights.
An almost unlimited storage capacity
Cloud servers allow you to archive and save large amounts of data
Scalability
Critical workloads work transparently while you develop your activity.
While the demand for streaming continues to increase, a streaming server in the cloud is no longer a “possible” option, but a requirement for any platform wishing to increase its activity and offer quality service.
