Spotify’s predictions for song of the summer are bumming me out
Spotify released its “official” predictions for the song of the summer this morning, and, to be honest, i don’t think it’s fair that it got to pick 15 of theM. Anyone can guess the song of the summer if they get 15 tries!
The Songs Were Selected Using A Fascinating Combination of Wave-Sounding Technical Scientific. According to a press release, each song was chosen by “Tapping the insights of its gender and trend experts, Analyzing its streaming data, and considering factors such as a song’s performance on the charts, on key spotify playlists, and How it’s performing over time.»
Spotify also “Factored in Buzz on Social Media,” So I’m not sure How We Got All The Way To The Following List Without So Much As Touching On The Fact that Justin Bieber Says Bad, Fake Spanish on the #1 Track in the United States Right Now. I’m Pretty sure people are just hate-listening to it.
Anyway, after spotify selected the 15 Songs Most Likely to Burrow their Way Into Your Skull Through August, It Labeled Each with the Summer Situation that it is perfect for – with the Mildly Funny Exception of Two Songs by Future and Lil Uzi Vert, Which Labeled only with the information that they are rap Songs. Noted!
- The “This Song is [Two Fire Emoji]”: “Bad liar” by Selena Gomez
- The Party Song: “Strip that down” by Liam Payne feat. Quavo
- The Lounging by the Pool Song: “I’m the One” by Dj Khaled feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper, and Lil Wayne (also a recent one video selection on The Verge!))
- The My Summer FLING IS A DISASTER SONG: “Crying in the club” by Camila Cabello
- The Sunburn Recovery Song: “The Cure” by Lady Gaga
- The Road Trip Staple: “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back “by shawn Mendes
- Ultimate Club Banger: “Swish Swish” by Katy Perry Feat. Nicki Minaj
- The Rap Cut: “Mask off” by future
- The Dark and Stormy: “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons
- The Summer Workout: “DNA” by Kendrick Lamar
- The Summer Lazing Song: “Slow Hands” by Niall Horan
- The Globetrotter: “Despacito” (remix) by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber
- The Cruising To The Beach Song: “Malibu” by Miley Cyrus
- The song with an important message: “1-800-273-8255” by Logic feat. Alessia Cara, Khalid
- The Best Trap Option: “XO Tour Llif3” by Lil Uzi Green
But here’s What Most of these Songs Are Actually Perfect for: Being Bummed Out. However, to Borrow has a sentence, Crying in the club. Liam Payne’s debuting song as a solo artist is one of the worst Things i Have Ever Heard in my life, and that is coming from someone who Tried to Believe in Him Even after he compared Himself to Tyga. Working through the list, I Doubt We (As A Species) Are Capable of Fathoming Niall Horan, A Perfect Angel of Love and Light and Intellectual Curiosity, at All, or Ever Will Be. As such, his post-one direction solo music will only every us a little, like sipping pure grain alcohol or staring into the sun.
“Malibu” Strikes Me AS A Song Written and Performed Under Coercion, and I Don’t Really Want to Talk About How Bad Shawn Mendes is because the last time i Did that I receive Upwards of 500 Death Threats on the Internet. Any song featuring alessia cara and khalid, the idols of a brand-new generation of teens that i am not a part of and can’t completely relates to, is only gooi to make me feel like i am nearing death.
In sammer, We need to party while we can. While Congress is in recess. We Deserve A Better “Club Banger” Than a Track With Katy Perry On It, Weakly dissing Another Pop Star who also doesn’t Belong in the Club, and we Deserve to Forget that Imagine Dragons is a Thing, Which I Mostly Had Until now. We deserve True Apocalypse Pop or Its Polar Opposite-The Brain-Pickling Earnest Romanticism of Carly Rae Jepsen’s Latest Offering-and Nothing in Between. If we deserve Anything from Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. It’s “fear” or “love,” and oh my god, what is wrong with Everyone who is Letting Lana del Rey’s Two Perfect Summer Singles Sit in the Corner Gathering Dust? This is No Fault of Spotify’s, but 2017’s Summer Pop Roster Could Really Use A Few Heroes.
(“Bad Liar” is inclusive. If the list had stopped there it would have been a great list.))
The Best Summer Song is the One that Gets Pumped, Whether You Like It OR Not, Out of Every Car Window in the United States for Three Entire Months. Spotify, to its credit, do not dare to guess that song that might be. We’ll find out soon enough.
Three Weeks Until Summer, please Hold on!
How I was checked on Spotify and Apple Music
Having been checked has never been easier. Here’s how to do it !
After years spent creating pieces in the studio and posting outlines here and there, I finally decided to make my own musical distribution.
I master my song, info my info and download my album cover. I clicked on “send”, I was approved and that was everything ! My song was, in the space of a moment, on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer and many other musical platforms.
Great ! What’s going on now ? I want to be able to change my photo, modify my bio and control the way I am represented on these platforms. It’s not like on SoundCloud where you just have to connect, click on edit and it’s done !
Keeping your hand on your online info is very important because it shows that you are active, it brings you fans and makes your profile stand out. It’s also a way to give your fans more.
How to do it ? Do you check !
If you just distributed your music, you have to wonder how to proceed. Here’s how I was checked on Spotify and Apple Music and how I took control of my artist profiles.
Why be checked ?
What is all this excitement around these little blue badges ?
The badge “verified” speaks of itself: I am legitimate, I have the quality label, I was checked by people in the middle and here is my music !
To tell the truth, the verification has not always been very fair for emerging artists. At one time, you needed a number of listening or followers to prove that you were worth receiving the sacrosanct badge. And we all know how difficult it is to get these first 250 fans ..
Fortunately, everything has changed recently. Spotify realized that it was necessary to start being more transparent and giving all the artists the same tools in order to take control of their projects.
Here is what the verification gives you access:
- Change your artist profiles by changing your profile photo or other details
- Connect to your fans by posting playlists, tour dates or some news
- Get stats and have an idea of who listens to your music streaming and in what places
- To be more likely to appear on a playlist by appearing more legitimate
So here’s how to do it after distributing your music (doing it before won’t work !) in order to obtain this famous blue badge:
Get off your profile artist spotify
You can just go on Spotify for artists and click on “Get Access”.
It can take more time than your impatience would not want (a few days or even a week) but once they checked who you are, you can finally have access to your profile.
Here is what being verified allows you to do on Spotify:
- Update your artist photo
- Add an artist’s choice (your last distribution for example)
- Add a playlist to your artist profile
- Consult your stats: number of listenings, countries and cities where your music is played, etc.
Access your Apple Music artist profile
Even if the process is a bit confusing, I managed to find information by directly contacting Apple’s technical support.
Go on Apple Music Connect (not to be confused with Connect or iTunes Connect !) To claim your Apple Music artist profile. Afterwards:
- Click on Sign Up Now
- Click on Request Access
- Connect with your Apple ID
- Click on the + in the top left corner
- Fill the information and submits.
It takes about a week to be checked.
What is being checked on Apple Music allows you to do:
- Share audio, videos, photos and ideas with your fans
- Share your favorite playlists, albums, video clips or songs with your fans from Apple Music
On Apple Music, a fan is the one who buys your music or adds it to his library.
Anyone can see and read the content you download on Connect, even on Apple Music for Android.
As an artist, you don’t need a subscription to Apple Music to post on your page. But you can only publish from an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch (through the Apple Music app) or a Mac (from iTunes).
Here is an Apple guide who explains how to download content for your Apple Music fans.
To update your artist organic on your Apple Music profile, contact AMG at this address: [email protected]
The badge ? That’s done !
Luckily, the verification process is now accessible to all of us.
Which means that when you distribute your music, you have access to your artist profile on Spotify and Apple Music.
It allows you to change your photos, publish your favorite playlists and contact your fans.
Blue badge is the seal of approval that makes you legitimate, even if We, We already knew that you were. So be checked now and get as much profit from your musical distribution!
