Which mobile operator captures the best at home ?
After comparing the different 4G and 5G packages, Mezabo will give you more information Regarding network covers. Namely, which holds the best 4G and 5G network on French territory ? This is an important question since according to your place of residence, you may not capture the network in the same way. Indeed, some mobile networks are more accessible in certain places than other. In order to determine which network is best captured in your geographic area, you can always refer to the Arcep network coverage card.
Which has the best 4G network ?
In order to determine who has the best 4G network, Mezabo relies On the research carried out by the arcep. This authority carries out two studies to find out who has the best mobile network. First, the arcep looks at the coverage of the population and then on the coverage of the territory. From the results, it is possible to affirm that SFR is the leader on the 4G network compared to free. Indeed, SFR covers more than 99 % of the population in 4G and 94 % in territory covered by 4G. For its part, Free covers 99 % of the population, but only 91 % of the territory. Free still remains very well positioned.
Which of SFR or Free is more efficient with the 5G network ?
Regarding 5G now, ARCEP does not yet have enough data to establish percentage of population and territory coverage in the territory. However, in view of the antennas installed in France, ARCEP lists around 13,000 antennas Services in France for Free. It is the operator who has the most antennas to date. SFR is located in a range between 3000 and 6000 5G branches spread over the territory. Nevertheless, having a lot of antennas does not mean having good network quality. Indeed, while SFR is around 300 Mbit/s, Free caps at 149 and 128 Mbit/s. It is therefore still shared for the 5G mobile network on French territory.
An SFR-FREE merger strikes the competition rules-BFM
Paris, January 3 (Reuters) – The competition authority opposed the idea of a rapprochement between the mobile operator SFR, a subsidiary of Vivendi, and its competitor Free, a subsidiary of Iliad, indicates Thursday BFM Business radio on its website.
Embranched by the arrival at the beginning of 2012 of Free on the French mobile telephony market and by the slowdown in the consumption of telecoms products in Europe, operators seek to reduce their costs and reflect on means of pooling their networks. Suddenly, speculation on rapprochements between operators are going well.
In this context, according to BFM Business, SFR and Free consulted, in an informant way and each on their side, the competition authority on a fusion scenario of the two companies.
“According to industrial sources, the competition gendarme replied that it would not accept such a merger due to the weight of the new set on the mobile market and especially the ADSL,” writes BFM which does not name however not his sources.
“The combination of SFR and Free would hold half of the Internet access market, which would therefore become a quasi-duopoly with Orange”, continues the radio.
Neither sfr, nor free, nor the competition authority wished to comment on this information.
On the Paris Stock Exchange, the Vivendi action abandoned 1.81% to 17.12 euros at 11:33 am while it was given 0.53% to 131.75 euros.
“In the current state, a sectoral consolidation seems difficult and a sharing of mobile network seems to us both easier to implement and less risky”, underline the analysts of CM CIC Securities in a research note.
“The most likely consolidation scenarios are therefore the sfr-numericable and bouyguegable rapprochements”, they continue.
In mid-December, the Vivendi group confirmed its wish to get out of the telecoms sector to focus on that of the media and content.
In recent months, the press has echoed many avenues of reflection on the future of SFR, whether it is a rapprochement with the numericable cable operator or a fusion with Free or Bouygues Telecom.
According to BFM Business, the businessman Vincent Bolloré, who entered the Vivendi supervisory board in mid-December, would however be reserved on a rapprochement between SFR and Numericable, believing that such an operation is Not sufficiently favorable to Vivendi.
