Design: More of the Same, but better
Place this year’s phone next to that of last year on a table, you will find it difficult to say which is which. To impress your technophile friends, there is however a tip to decide between it. The slices of the Z Flip 4 are now shiny and the back adopts a mat cover in place of the glossy from 3.
That’s not all, their contact is more metallic than that of Z Flip 3, which also equipped with aluminum slice, gave more impression of softness. In addition, Samsung promises that these slices are stronger than last year, that is to be noted.
Still on the slices, these are less domed than last year and adopt a flat design. The hinge, too, is a little less present. It benefits from the same new manufacturing process as the Z Fold 4, which allows it to take up less space while being more solid and lighter.
Always on the handling side, the phone is undeniably heavier than its eldest, even if it remains very light (187 grams against 183 last year). Last differentiating element: the two photo modules are slightly more protuberant and come out a little more from the phone.
Autonomy, the real difference
All these developments on design will undoubtedly revolutionize your use of flip. The real lease expected was on autonomy, and it looks like Samsung did the job. On paper already, the firm Seoul equips Flip 4 with a larger 400 mAh battery, going from 3300 mAh to 3700. In addition, the phone chip, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has a finer engraving of engraving than the Snapdragon 888, and avoids the setbacks of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which tended to heat.
Consequently, the Z Flip 4 should provide a good improvement in this level. We have already had the opportunity to test this point via Our test protocol made with target. Let’s not be afraid of words: the improvement is dazzling. If the flip 3 took 7:46 to reach 10 %, a mediocre score, the Z Flip 4 has taken 11:39 a.m., a completely average result, but already of course. It will of course be necessary to confirm or invalidate all this during our test, but this is a real reason to get excited for the Flip 4.
The photo and the power make a little leap
Other small improvements are to be reported. The main sensor of Z Flip 4 may keep the definition of 12 megapixels, it is indeed a new slightly larger component, and therefore supposed to capture more light. The chip, as mentioned above, is more efficient since it is a snapdragon 8+ gen 1.
