Reconditioned products
The market for reconditioned products is in full swing (+20 % per year for smartphones) and yet no one knew what a reconditioned product was really. The term did not cover any legal definition, drowning these products among those of “occasion”, “second -hand”, “like new” or “refurbished”. A decree published on February 17, 2022 finally fills this gap.
Good news for consumers: sellers will no longer be able to use the terms “reconditioned” and “reconditioned”, now framed by decree (1). Concretely, to be qualified as reconditioned, products or spare parts must meet two conditions. First, they must have undergone tests to verify that they meet legal security obligations and the use to which the consumer can legitimately expect. Then, if necessary, the products (or spare parts) were repaired to be fully functional again. All data must also have been deleted. With this decree, the government also supervises the expressions “new state”, “like new”, “new” or equivalent, also used without foundation: they will no longer be able to replace the term “reconditioned” when it is actually of reconditioned products. The consumer will thus be aware that a reconditioned product is not a new product. The text finally reserves the mention “reconditioned in France” to the reconditioning operations fully carried out in the country.
These requirements should bring clarity to the market, including serving virtuous reconditioners. “Too bad the terms of the tests to be carried out are not specified, nuance however David Mignot, founder of the site for the sale of Reconditioned products Yesyes. And a recent agreement concluded between Recommerce, one of the main French reconditioners, with the United Group. B, which notably has the baker and electrodepost brands, suggests that the spectrum of the supply of reconditioned products should soon expand to other devices, especially to appliances. Another good news for consumers, who will be able to equip themselves for cheaper and make a gesture for the planet !

Galaxy A52S, aesthetic state “very good condition”. Used for 3 weeks. Most: – No scratch visible on the screen. – Battery which ensures a range of two days without difficulty. – Completely functional smartphone. The least: – the protective film affixed to the screen was not well centered, which makes it take off in a corner under the effect of the protective shell added a posteriori. It will certainly have to change it. For an option paid 15 €, it’s disappointing. – Contrary to what was indicated at the time of purchase, no SIM card extractor was provided with the phone. It is not problematic when you already have one (much more otherwise), but the commitment is not held. Ideally, the choice should be left to the buyer. – The back of the phone has more pronounced wear marks than what the mention “possible micro-scratch” indicated for the grade “very good condition” suggests. Overall we are completely satisfied with this purchase which has confirmed us in the choice of the reconditioned (for ecological as well as economic). Nevertheless we had opted for the option “Film Hydrogel poses” by tranquility of mind assuming that this brought the guarantee that protection would be applied correctly, it is regrettable that this is not really the case. This is what leads to the loss of a point in the note.

Perfectible packaging (a cardboard or foam wedge would avoid on the phone for walking in the box). The screen is more damaged than what I thought, I cannot say that the description was bad, but it’s a bit hard to imagine before purchasing. The screen protector has a few bubbles at the edge, I hope it will hold. It is true that these screen with long rounded edges should not be easy to protect. Finally, and that’s especially what is problematic for me, I find that the battery is discharged too quickly. I received a product that was not the one I ordered (US version instead of the European version).
