Recharge your electric vehicle in total resort, switch to electric with our charging stations

Totalnergies supports you in your electric mobility

Did you know ? Totalnergies aims to equip in France 300 service stations with high power charging stations by 2023: 200 on road and highway axes and 100 with strategic locations around and in large cities, i.e. a recharge resort every 150 km.

3. What limits do we find in total resort ?

We offer several types of terminals in total stations:

Find out which terminal is the most suitable for your vehicle:

Which terminal is the most suitable for my vehicle ?

4. Which terminal to use to recharge your electric vehicle in total station ?

Two parameters must be taken into account ::

Not all vehicles accept the same charging power. The maximum power that each vehicle is able to accept during a load varies from one model to another. This maximum cannot be exceeded.

  • The power delivered by the terminal

The power of the terminals varies according to the technology chosen: the terminals by alternating current (AC) can deliver up to 43 kW of power, while the continuous current terminals (DC) will make it possible to reach much higher powers, until ‘at 175 kW.

The most powerful terminals having a higher rate, we recommend that you check the maximum power accepted by the vehicle when choosing a station at the station.

Totalnergies supports you in your electric mobility !

Electric mobility is gaining ground, and with it, the deployment of charging stations. A development that we support as producer and electricity supplier but also as a charging operator already ensuring the installation and operation of thousands of roads in roads or at home or at home. At a time when some cities announce restrictions on access to vehicles with thermal engine, you may be wondering if the electric is as simple and practical: terminal types, charging time, costs … We do, for you , the turn of all these questions.

Public limits and private terminals: what differences ?

Public charging stations: the difference between alternating and direct current current

Alternative current charging stations (AC):

  • Availability: the most common terminals, they find themselves in stations, in roads, in public car parks and establishments open to the public.
  • Principle: the alternating current out of the terminal is converted inside the vehicle in direct current before entering the battery.
  • Power: from 3.5 to 22 kW
  • Use: suitable for daily opportunity or residential recharges

High power recharging terminals (DC):

  • Availability: less frequent, they are more often in service station or on a highway, or in urban hubs.
  • Principle: current converted directly by the terminal before feeding the battery, which makes the equipment more expensive.
  • Power: from 24 to 350 kW
  • Use: suitable for vehicles that recharge to make long distances or for professionals such as carriers, taxis, VTC, etc

Home recharge: domestic socket or charging station ?

  • Domestic socket: domestic socket provides an alternating current which will be capped at 8 or 10A (a for “ampère”) or 1.7 to 2.1KW. The charging time is therefore quite long. Note that with a domestic socket there is a risk of overheating or fire.
  • Recharge terminal: The terminal delivers a current in general between 16A and 32A. Its power can be 3.7, 7, 11 or 22 kW. The load is therefore faster than on a domestic socket and more secure otherwise with a charging station, it is possible to recharge intelligently with the hollow hours/ full hours device.

Good to know: total Electricity and Gas has designed packaged offers for the individual including both a supply contract adapted to home recharge and home charging stations.

What are the average charging times depending on the terminals ?

The recharging time varies depending on the level of the battery at the time of connection, the capacity of the vehicle as well as the power of the charging station.

In theory, depending on the power of the recharge point, a vehicle can recover:

  • 7 kW = 40 km per recharge hour*
  • 22 kW = 60 km per ½ hour of recharge*
  • 50 kW = 120 km per ½ hour of recharge*
  • 150 kW = 240 km in 20 min of charging*

* According to data from AFIREV (French Association for the Itemnation of Electric Recharge)

In addition, particularly high or low temperatures can slow down or even stop the load … but this is very rare.

What will be the charging cost of your electric vehicle ?

The cost of recharge on public limits

Each charging network has its pricing policy. In addition to the energy price, the price of the recharge includes costs related to the operation of the charging service. Different factors also influence the price:

  • The type of terminal: those offering a greater charging power (24 to 350 kW) generally have a higher price cost of those offering normal charging power (7 to 22 kW).
  • A charging service can be accessible at different rates with subscription formulas according to uses (residential or occasional needs). In addition, pricing can be established in €/min or €/kWh or in €/session or a mixture of these components.
  • The mobility supplier: if you use a mobility card issued by an electric mobility provider, called EMSP (Electric Mobility Service Provider), the latter will apply its own pricing including additional costs at the price of the indicated recharge.

Did you know ? For professionals, the Fleet de Totalenergies card allows access to a large network of European terminals thanks to partnerships with other charging operators: more than 150,000 terminals accessible in Europe, including more than 20,000 in France.

What are the different methods of access and payment ?

  • Activation of recharging and payment can be made with a mobility card allowing access to different networks of operators
  • Certain terminals are directly equipped with a TPE for payment by bank card. Bank card payment can also be made thanks to an QR code for online payment.
  • Finally, other terminals, but it is rarer, can be activated by SMS or via a voice server or an application.

Did you know ? In a total service station, the charging service is accessible by bank card via a QR code for online payment.

How to reduce the overall cost of recharge ?

Even if it all depends on the consumption of your vehicle, its autonomy and therefore on your use, make your main recharges at your home will be the most economical option. And all the more if you do it during off -peak hours during which the price per kWh is sometimes divided by two. In fact, some connected vehicle or charging stations allow you to program the time of the recharge.

Did you know ? With the purchase of a recharging terminal at Totalenergies, you have access to an electricity offer suitable for recharging the electric vehicle at home. Thanks to the “super hollow hours”* included in this green electricity offer, take advantage of an energy up to -50% between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

*The discount applies from 2h to 6 hours on the price HT of the KWH full hours of the regulated rate in force proposed by EDF (electricity). The price of the electricity subscription is identical to that of the regulated rate. Totalnergies Electricity and Gaz France buys an original guarantee for each MWH (1000 kWh) of electricity consumed, guaranteeing the injection on the network of an equivalent production of electricity of renewable origin

The pricing of public charging stations, in roads, in parking lots, in shopping centers or in service stations is higher than at your home, in particular because it also incorporates the price of the parking lot. In any case, even in the station, the power offered by the terminals will vary the price. For occasional and regular recharges, it is therefore particularly interesting to compare prices and in particular those of subscriptions. Whatever use you make of it and the frequency you want to recharge your electric vehicle, you will find a solution adapted to your needs.
