In 2021, Frandroid You presented the brand of Pure Electric across the electric bicycle test, the pure flow one-which no longer seems to be available in the official catalog. This company founded by Adam Norris, the paternal of the Formula 1 Lando Norris pilot, was also positioned on the electric scooter market.

Today, the manufacturer has two families of scooters: the Pure Air range, positioned on the mid -range, and the Pure Advance range, definitively placed in the field of high -end. The Advance+ version – located between Advance and Flex – was able to be tested by writing for several weeks.

His particuliarity ? The absence of traditional deck, replaced by side fins. What is it worth 999 euros ? Does she manage to hold high sugared almonds at the Xiaomi Scooter 4 Ultra sold at the same price ? Answer in this full test.

Pure Advance plus a unique design of its kind

Pure Electric has created a unique electric scooter. The design details and clearly distinguishes itself – for our greatest pleasure – from conventional look to the Xiaomi and Segway that we meet every day on the cycle paths. To do this, the manufacturer has imagined a brand new structure.

Pure Advance therefore ignores the traditional central deck to marry side fins on which your feet come to arise. This innovative risk taking gives it an unusual, seaman, refreshing and futuristic style. All combined with correct, but not flawless finishes – the weld folds are visible and marked.

This machine like no other is not free from defect in its design level. Its steering column benefits from pure control stabilization technology, supposed, as its name suggests, better stabilize the machine. To do this, a spring system tends to automatically replace the handlebars in the axis.

Problem: when you transport pure advice+ on foot, it is extremely difficult to guide it and run it, because the handlebars exercise strong resistance. Not very practical.

The sustainability of the parts can also be called into question: one of the fins showed sacred signs of fatigue after three weeks. When it is folded, a small mechanism keeps it vertically. Problem: this system quickly broke out. Then just a sidewalk for the fin falling.

If you walk too close to the scooter, then your ankle can type in. The pain engendered more than cringing the teeth. The acceleration trigger also worried us: it started to cring when manipulating it, again after a few weeks.

Clearly, all of this is not reassuring in the long term.

Another disturbing point: the weight, 16 kg. Your tester, who is certainly not the most sporty of the editorial staff, lives on the 4th floor without elevator: the lungs and the biceps still remember. A scooter is generally intended to sleep indoors: if you have an elevator, take advantage of it. Otherwise, you know what’s waiting for you.

The beautiful news to put itself under the tooth is the IP65 certification, which guarantees protection against dust and water projections. So you can ride in the rain. Be careful however: on the official website, it is indicated that the 2 -year warranty does not cover exposure in high rain during an extended period. You are warned.

A panel of generous and effective equipment

In terms of equipment, pure advice+ has almost a faultless. The central crutch is well thought out, easy to use and stabilizes the two-wheeler very well when stopping. The front and rear mudguards perfectly envelop the 10-inch wheels: your tibias and shoes are protected as it should be.

We also appreciate the well -placed doorbell – it falls very well under your thumb – and noisy enough to be heard by other users (pedestrians, cyclists). Excellent mention for the indicators, activated from two buttons located on the left of the handlebars. We get used to it quickly.

By pressing one of them, a sound “beep” sounds to validate their activation. Then, either the indicator turns off by itself after ten seconds, or a new support allows you to stop it. The indicators are both located on the end of the handles and fins, for better visibility.

The integration of indicators on an electric scooter is an excellent choice. This allows you to indicate your direction while keeping both hands on the handlebars. This strengthens your safety, as well as that of other people. It is equipment that all scooters should have.

The only small black point to point the finger is the headlight before a power of 60 lux. He lights up too far, the fault of a questionable inclination. In short, it is more used to be seen than to really see the road. Vigilance, therefore, in the unlit areas.

A simple and intuitive folding system

Pure Advance+ plays the card of practicality despite its weight of 16 kg, thanks to a classic folding system, but effective. Just unlock the steering column via a double security, which is then attached to a hook located the central column of the scooter.

Good news: the handles are also foldable. On each of them, it is necessary to activate two hoquets simultaneously to unlock the system. Once folded, the scooter is 104 cm long, 54 cm high and 15 centimeters wide. However, it remains slightly bulky in a small apartment.

Pure Advance plus a basic screen, a simplistic application

Pure Advance+ is in the most total simplicity in terms of on -board technologies. In the center of the handlebars, count on a well -readable screen during the day, which indicates your speed, the mode used, the state of the headlights or the remaining autonomy in the form of a loading bar.

A main button allows you to activate and deactivate the headlights (one click), change mode (two clicks) and turn on the machine (long support). And that’s all. When recovering the scooter, a brand representative certified us that no application existed. The official website claims the opposite, which is the case.

The Pure Electric application does not overflow with features. It is used to activate the headlights and turn off the vehicle from your phone, or consult its remaining percentage autonomy and kilometer. If you are used to fixing your phone on a support, you will then have the speed in real time … which the central screen already indicates.

The whole is very basic. Not sure that this application is of extreme use on a daily basis. In any case, we do not have the feeling.

Pure Advance Plus Conduite

Due to its design, the pure Advance+ makes you adopt an unusual driving position, slightly leaning forward. It is a posture you get used to quickly, and that does not get rid of too much. Let’s say it’s even fun at first, because it changes your habit.

You must nevertheless take into account the fact that the handlebars are not adjustable in height: for large templates, it might seem too low. Concerning me (175 cm), I did not encounter any particular problem. The handlebar width is nevertheless a problem: 60 centimeters.

Let’s say that this width is supposed to strengthen the stability of the machine, but that it remains impractical to sneak between cars or cyclists on a narrow cycle path. This width overall above the average is also explained by the presence of indicators on the ends of the handles, which extend the whole.

A powerful engine, but a strange behavior

Let’s say it from the outset: Pure Advance+ is an electric scooter that has it under the hood. Its engine delivers a power of 710 W in crest, which allows you to climb low and medium -sized positive drops without flinching. Accelerations as well as the recoveries are also very good, with a reactivity more than appreciated and a dosage controlled at the level of the trigger.

Its trajectory takes is however questionable: at 25 km/h, it is interesting to play with the balance of your body to tilt the machine to the right or to the left in entering a very low change of direction. On the other hand, at lower speed, the pure Advance+ lacks flexibility in its turns. Even after several weeks, I never felt very comfortable.

Oddly, holding a right straight trajectory seemed difficult to me throughout the test. The handlebars, animated by its stabilization system which constantly puts it back in the axis, tended to oscillate constantly to the right and the left in a very light manner. Consequences: I felt like I was constantly zigzag.

The balance is binary: the famous stabilization system is very effective when you remove a handyman from the handlebars. Where a lot of scooters will tremble because it is less well maintained, the pure advice+, it shows a good balance. At low speed, one cannot say as much on the other hand.

Another disturbing element: in the absence of a central deck, a single driving position is possible. During a means or long journey, it is difficult to stretch your legs in case of numbness. If you relax one, immediately, the weight of your body changes on one side, creating a marked imbalance.

You are therefore condemned to keep the same driving position, when the scooters equipped with a central deck allow you to intervene the position of the feet, or even change their position (joint feet, in t). Let us say all the same that the fins enjoy a good non -slip coating: your feet do not slip, even in the rain.

An uncomfortable scooter

Undeniably, comfort is not the strong point of this electric scooter. Pure Advance+ turns the back to any front or rear suspension system, when less expensive competing models offer them. This is a considerable lack of 999 euros, that it is difficult to hide.

Consequences: roughness, bumps, marked sidewalks and other road irregularities are generally felt. We even tend to want to flex the knees to better understand certain passages. 10 -inch tires without an airline clearly are not enough to amortize everything.

Regarding me, the driving position has proven to be uncomfortable as possible in terms of my handles and the right thumb (to press the acceleration trigger), which tended to contort through a journey. After 10 minutes, a real embarrassment was felt.

Reassuring brakes

Pureadvance+ is made up of an effective and reassuring braking system. The official website mentions a drum brake at the front, and a rear brake with a Kers (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) system, regenerative braking. Don’t be mistaken: the latter is just nonexistent.

No regenerative braking system is available in screen or application options. Above all, the scooter is simply free wheel as soon as you stop accelerating. It is however at this time that regenerative braking is supposed to intervene. Again, we consider it a lack.

For the rest, we don’t have much to blame him. The brake controller occurs both on the front and rear wheel, for excellent braking on ground and wet ground. The wheel has never blocked or hunted, even during emergency braking. A real feeling of security comes out when you are at his handlebars.

Pure Advance plus a meager autonomy, an endless recharge

The Pure Electric manufacturer officially communicates on an autonomy of 50 kilometers. In practice, pure advice+ will keep you on average 35 kilometers. We have obtained this value with a 175 cm user, 63 kg weight, on courses mixing flat roads and positive and negative elevations.

This 35 -kilometer range is too thin for a machine sold 999 euros. Its main competitor, the Xiaomi 4 Ultra, can at least travel 45 km with an 180 cm user whose weight is higher than mine – we can therefore count on 50 km.

Also expect a significant loss of power, both in terms of acceleration and recovery, as soon as the battery is low. Our maximum speed was even limited to 20 km/h.

The loading bar indicated on the screen is finally imprecise. The autonomy collapses once spent half. Be careful not to get trapped: remember to recharge your model well when you reach this limit.

The recharging of this 423 Wh accumulator, precisely, is carried out in 7:15 am. It’s just too much. Recharge it in full on an afternoon, at work, is for example possible.

As on all electric scooters, the battery is not removable.

The warranty covers use in light rain and crossing puddles on the ground, but not soaking in water or exposure to high rain for prolonged periods. Use under these conditions cancels the warranty.
