Coming from the Mission E concept revealed in 2015, the Porsche Taycan is the very first 100% electric model of the manufacturer. It is available in sedan versions, classic station wagon (Turismo sport) and raised break (Cross Turismo). The starting price is € 91,055.

Forcing a bodywork made up of a mixture of aluminum, steel and plastic reinforced by carbon fibers (PRFC), the Taycan is mounted on carbon rims: 21 ″ at the front and 22 ″ at the back. The aluminum brakes housed in these wheels are impressive, up to a diameter of 420 mm on the turbo S, associated with 10 -piston calipers.

Commerce initially in a sedan version only, the Taycan is available today in “classic” Sport Turismo Break and a kind of Break Bouder Cross Turismo.

Interior

Once again, the Taycan is inspired by the mission e. Capable of accommodating up to four passengers regardless of the body, the cabin is noticed by the many screens, exactly five:

• 16 -inch, non -tactile digital counters, for essential data (speed, autonomy, etc.)
• The 10.9 -inch, touch -up, multimedia or car top
• The 8.4 -inch, tactile lower central screen, managing air conditioning 4 zones
• The 10.9 -inch, non -tactile (optional) passenger screen
• The central, touching, managing air conditioning screen

At tactile controls, the voice command is of course possible, activated via “Hey Porsche”. Will of the Zuffenhausen brand, the upholstery are not exclusively leather, since fabrics in recycled materials are in the catalog, without supplement.

Motorization & Performances

Similar to those used on the 919 hybrid, two electric motors animate the Taycan. Particularity, the rear block has a 2 -speed transmission, against one at the front. Basic, the system develops 625 power horsepower (460 kW). However, an Overboost function distinguishes the Turbo and Turbo S models. The first reached 500 kW (680 hp), the second 560 kW (761 hp), the couple being 850 and 1,050 nm respectively.

These characteristics make it possible to shoot 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds on the Taycan Turbo S, and to pass the bar from 200 km/h and 9.8 seconds. The turbo is very slightly more modest, with 3.2 seconds and 10.6 seconds. On the two versions of the German, the speed is restrained at 260 km/h.

A few weeks later, the Taycan 4S is announced, less powerful but more accessible. Always four -wheel drive, the sedan drops to 530 hp/390 kW on the 79.2 kWh battery model, and 571 hp/420 kW on that of 93.4 kWh. 0-100 km/h remains very respectable, around 4 seconds.

The cheapest Porsche Taycan arrives at the beginning of 2021. Named 2S, it logically displays a declining performance, with 326 to 380 horsepower. The batteries are the same as for the 4S, while the 0 to 100 km/h is done in 5.4 seconds.

Battery and autonomy of the Porsche Taycan

The lithium-ion battery is located in the vehicle floor and extends over the entire length between the front and rear axles to ensure a uniform mass distribution.

Announced at 93.4 kWh (408 LG cells), the package’s capacity allows the Taycan to have 381 to 463 kilometers of autonomy in WLTP cycle cycle. The smallest pack of 79.2 kWh allows up to 407 km on the Taycan 2 and 4S. To better regulate autonomy, Porsche offers an optional heat pump.

A particularly effective thermal management system takes care of both the right temperature (heating or cooling) of the battery (gross energy capacity) and other high -voltage components, as well as the cabin. It eliminates potential power losses caused by different factors usually likely to cause heat elevation in cells. These factors are the ambient external temperature, powerful repeated accelerations, a sustained look or fast recharging.

The combo socket up to 270 kW

Beyond its 22 kW on -board charger, the Taycan uses new technology for fast recharging by carrying the voltage of the Standard CCS CCS to 800 Volts. The manufacturer targets an 80 % load in just 22 minutes and works in concert with Audi to develop the future standard Ultra-fast Combo standard.

Price and marketing of the Porsche Taycan

The Taycan 2S sedan access model is available from 91,055 euros in France. Count at least 194,501 euros for the most expensive model in the range, namely Turbo S Cross Turismo.
