What positioning and price for the future Peugeot 3008 electric
By next year, five electric models signed Peugeot will be produced in France. After the E-308, the E-308 SW, and the E-408, the brand attacks E-3008. In Sochaux, a third edition of the model has just unveiled all its secrets, pending the start of its marketing next year. Peugeot did not take advantage of the opportunity to communicate on its price – at a time when the impact of the ecological bonus and the prize war in the sector are numerous – but still lifted the veil on its engines and its design.
Peugeot E -3008 – Technical sheet, autonomy, interior, photos and videos
Peugeot accelerates its electrification strategy. The manufacturer wants to offer a range of 100% electric vehicles by 2025. So to get there, he announces the release of a Peugeot E-3008, electric version of the third generation of the compact SUV whose presentation is scheduled for 2023. Here is what we know about the new Peugeot E-3008 before its release.
After seven years of good and loyal service, the second generation of the Peugeot 3008 bowed out in 2023 to make way for a new edition completely redesigned both outside and inside. This third generation of the compact SUV is accompanied by an electric version, called Peugeot E-3008. Autonomy, engine, technical platform, price estimate … before the release of this electric 3008, here is what we know about its technical sheet.
Presentation and dimensions
The new PEUGEOT E-3008 Electric is based on the Stla Medium platform of the Stellantis group. It therefore retains compact SUV dimensions, but its style inevitably evolves in order to mark the transition to a new generation. This new version of the 3008 must thus adopt the last codes of the design of the brand at the lion.
The specifics of the technical sheet
No less than three different electrical engines are developed for this new Peugeot E-3008. The French manufacturer does not reveal all the characteristics at a time when we write these lines, but it ensures that one of these three engines is associated with an all -wheel drive. Possibly, the first two engines are made up of a single electric block, while the third – higher – receives a second engine which allows to offer a four -wheel drive transmission.
The capacity of the battery on board by this new Peugeot E-3008 is also unknown. But according to Peugeot, the maximum electrical autonomy of the SUV revolves around 700 kilometers. The PEUGEOT 3008 electric therefore wants to play in the big leagues and allow its owners to make long journeys at its wheel.
Inside
It is first by its interior that the new Peugeot E-3008 is revealed. The compact SUV inaugurates the Peugeot Panoramic I-Cockpit, a new version of the famous I-Cockpit of the brand. Concretely, the cabin is marked by a digital dashboard which is composed of a 21 -inch curved panoramic screen. This high definition slab displays instrumentation, head -up display as well as the infotainment system, on a tactile part. It also seems to be levitating, since its fixings are invisible.
The interior of the new electric Peugeot 3008 is also marked by a minimalist central console. This abandons the butt dedicated to the change of reports. The automatic gearbox command is now integrated into the dashboard, near the start button. We also find on this dashboard i-toggles, which are touches that the driver can personalize with shortcuts. Finally, the finish calls on fabric decorations, or even real aluminum.
The costs
It is still too early to find out the price of the new Peugeot E-3008. Nevertheless, it can be estimated that the price of the electric SUV is between 55,000 and € 65,000 at entry -level level. The most opulent versions could clearly reach – or even exceed – € 70,000. The official presentation of the Peugeot E-3008 takes place in September 2023.
Numbers
After the presentation of the Peugeot E-3008, the French manufacturer must also reveal the new 5008 and its electric version E-5008. As for competitors of the new E-3008, these are the Tesla Model Y, the Audi Q4 e-tron, the Hyundai Kona Electric or even the Volkswagen Id.4.
- Power: Unknown
- Autonomy: up to 700 kilometers
- Price: between 55,000 and 65,000 € according to our estimate

What positioning and price for the future Peugeot 3008 electric ?
We are still far from the arrival of the new Peugeot E-3008, but certain elements already allow us to have an idea of its positioning and its price placement, which is likely to be particularly high.
Compared to Renault, Peugeot took the late electric train. Okay, we have not forgotten that Peugeot produced the ion in the 2000s, but this exercise with several (with Mitsubishi and Citroën) did not. We had to wait for the arrival of the 208 in 2019, almost six years after the Zoe, for the lion to react. And that Stellantis then followed suit by multiplying the offers. From now on, the CAP is on the more family and profitable models: E-308 first, on the current EMP2 platform, E-3008 soon on the brand new Stla platform in its “medium” size.
Which already involves a certain battery size. Stellantis had announced roughly between 80 and 100 kWh for Stla Medium. And according to some rumors, the Peugeot E-3008 would embark 90 kWh of energy storage in its floor. A substantial pack for a generalist brand, which necessarily involves significant costs, passed on to the customer. But how to position this E-3008, Ô how important for Peugeot ?
An E-3008 “Fastback”
The Peugeot E-3008 should not see the light of day before 2024. But the development and design of the battery are already very advanced. A battery that will obviously have its cost: according to Bloomberg, in 2022, the average price per kilowatt hour of battery amounted to $ 150, counting chemistry (cells) and the pack. But according to our information, recently the price of the kilowatt hour of battery would have around $ 200. And since the battery represents 30 to 40 percent of the total cost of an electric vehicle, it therefore plays an important role in the final price of the vehicle.
With a Peugeot 308 already sold nearly € 45,000 on an already proven platform, It seems unlikely to see the Peugeot E-3008 get the bonus and stay under the € 47,000, Unless there is a relatively stripped entry -level finish. The electric SUV should therefore logically exceed € 50,000 and get closer to the prices of a Tesla Model Y Grande Autonomy, or even to exceed it. And since the E-3008 is a new platform, it will be necessary to make it profitable. And we already have an example in this area: the Hyundai/Kia group, with its E-GMP platform of the Kia Ev6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. The prices start, in both cases, beyond € 50,000, on the Peugeot E-3008 segment segment.
Peugeot in any case maintains doubt around his SUV, which he already describes as “fastback”. With such a line, he would then become a competitor of Volkswagen ID.5, Skoda Enyaq Coupé and Ford Mustang Mach-E. Opposite, as to expect from the comparison to the diamond ? Renault is slow to reveal its plans for the C, D and E electric segments even if the scenic is already on the program. But he will arrive for once after his lion rival, which will be entitled to a brand new platform. Peugeot therefore has a blow to play, but it will still be necessary to hold, including in front of premium models (Audi Q4, future BMW IX2. ) if prices are high.

We discovered the Peugeot E-3008: an electric SUV with a gigantic battery
Under the shadow of the competition from Tesla and Renault, Peugeot unveiled in its Sochalian stronghold an electric SUV embarking two proposals of different batteries and up to 700 kilometers of theoretical autonomy.
We will therefore be entitled to three proposals, starting not with a block of 50 kWh but 73 kWh. Accompanied by a engine block on a single axle of 157 kW (210 hp), this battery will constitute the entry level, at a price which-hopefully-that is lower than 47,000 euros (equivalent to the access ceiling to ecological bonus). But rather than a classic SUV, with a high roof guard, it will be necessary to accommodate the passage to the silhouette of a cut SUV, with its falling of a plunging roof allowing a more aerodynamic drawing.
Inside, the rear seats suffer a bit as we have seen by setting up on board, just like feedback. Due to its very worked rear design, the trunk keeps its capacity of 520 liters for its part. The whole design makes the interior more narrow. Renault, which has particularly monopolized the DNA of the old 3008 of Peugeot to imagine its new scenic e-tech (also electric), is a little better in habitability with a more square format (the trunk reaches 545 liters). The E-3008 will have some jokers to get out of it, such as the option for a heating rear seat.
E-3008 vs Scénic e-tech: the 2024 match ?
In terms of design, we can discuss the choices of Peugeot, which has changed its dynamics with aggressive lines, or even the arrival of Renault closer and closer to the codes of the Lion Lion. But the most important today will be to look at the proposal of batteries, prices and options in terms of digital on board, at a time when, let’s say it right away, Tesla and the Chinese brands offer cheaper models. Currently, the model is sold there from 45,990 euros, and will be the next on the list to experience a restyling as recently experienced the Model 3.
Peugeot’s largest battery in the face of competition
The E-3008 therefore arrives with two versions of battery, which remains a good surprise compared to what could be expected earlier. The 136 hp block coupled with a 50 kWh battery, present on the E-2008 or on the E-408, is not renewed on the electric 3008. On the second level, the SUV will be entitled directly to a 98 kWh block with a 230 hp engine, to reach a range of 700 kilometers. Between the two proposals, there will be a version with two engines (four -wheel drive) with the 73 kWh battery and combining a power of 320 hp.
For comparison, Renault stopped at 610 km with the scenic with its largest battery of 87 kWh. The difference is also visible on the first level where Peugeot is distinguished with 525 km of autonomy instead of 420 km for the electric scenic. But the price could feel.
But faced with Tesla, it is in terms of recharge that Peugeot will not be able to make the weight. The autonomy of a model may be lower than that of an E-3008 (from 455 km to 533 km depending on the versions), it can load up to 250 kW in large autonomy version. Peugeot limits quick recharge to 160 kW on its E-3008. At Skoda, the autonomy of the Enyaq IV is below, from 340 km, but its price is as much lower, from 34,990 euros. As for Volkswagen, the autonomy of an ID.5 revolves around 489 and 513 km.
On board the Electric Peugeot 3008
Outdoor design and cabin was known even before presentation today in Sochaux. But let’s go back to this interior, which says a lot to the brand’s bias on the infotainment part. On board, the old I-Cockpit gives way to a 21-inch slab covering the top of the dashboard from the steering wheel to the central console. At the entry level, the large screen will give way to two 10 -inch screens, but the curved board will be the same and recalls what has also chosen to offer Audi.
In the center, no big screen like Tesla or Renault. Peugeot has only integrated a very fine screen which will especially aim to offer shortened buttons and control the main slab. The entertainment aspect is therefore clearly removed, and all the screens are oriented towards the driver, and not the passengers. The separation from the front passenger is all the more pronounced by the large central console dear to the brand.
On the other hand, the drawing is particularly worked and Peugeot arrives at the level of what his designers had been able to imagine a few years ago on concepts. The fact that the 3008 is no longer offered in automatic gearbox also removes some habitability constraints.
Price: the Peugeot E-3008 in two versions
We will have to wait until February 2024 to learn more about the prices of the E-3008. Peugeot will take the opportunity to then launch marketing with its Sochalian production. The first level of finish will be marked with the top of the range with the 98 kWh battery, it will have the privilege of wearing the GT badge. If this level of finish exceeds 60,000 euros, which is very likely given the size of the battery, it will have a lot to do to win in the face of competition. La Model there performance is displayed at 59,990 euros as well as the Ford Mustang Mach-E (59,990 euros too), two lower models in autonomy but higher in performance. Can Peugeot afford such a positioning ?
