If we already know what the interior of the future 3008 will look like and that he will opt for a cut body, an uncertainty still flat on the characteristics of the electrified version.

The Stellantis group has revealed the four platforms that will constitute the basis of its future electric vehicles. The Stla Small platform is therefore intended for city cars and compacts, while the wide version should serve as the basis for large cars like the Future Muscle because Dodge Electric. For its part, the E-3008 would operate the Stla Medium version, which would display a battery capacity ranging from 87 kWh to 104 kWh for a maximum autonomy of 700 km.

A battery with a net capacity of around 90 kWh is therefore possible for high -end models, authorizing a range exceeding 600 km. This would allow the electric coupe SUV to compete with the tenors of the segment, in particular the Tesla Model Y, which displays 455 km of autonomy in basic version and up to 533 km for the big autonomy.

All -wheel drive and more than 300 horsepower

On the motorization side, it is a safe bet that Peugeot will leave the choice between a single powertrain or a duo of engines offering all -wheel drive. In terms of power, the basic version should use the 156 horsepower engine already present on the other cars of the brand such as the Peugeot E-308.

For high-end finishes, the E-3008 should opt for an engine on each train, offering the four-wheeled transmission, while the cumulative power should happily exceed 200 horses. We even take a dream of a version with the EDM#3 engine as the platform allows, for a cumulative power exceeding 400 horsepower.

To succeed in the transition to all electric, Peugeot must not miss its next electric E-3008. The competition formed by the Y Model but also by the Skoda Enyaq Coupé IV, Volkswagen ID.4 or Hyundai ioniq 5 is fierce and the price positioning of the SUV in the lion will be essential. As such, a range ranging from € 50,000 to more than € 70,000 is possible. We await the official presentation in September to find out if the E-3008 really releases the fangs, or if the cut SUV will still be just a lion cub.

With this new chapter, Stellantis mainly inaugurates its new Stla Medium platform, cut for electric models. Thus, the E-3008 can embark three 100% electric engines.

A 73 kWh battery associated with a engine developing 210 hp (157 kW) for a range of 525 km. A four -wheel drive variant, equipped the same battery and with the same autonomy, will also be available. This version will carry a second engine, for a cumulative power of 320 hp (240 kW). As for the third electric engine (only one engine, 230 hp or 170 kW), it will be equipped with a huge 98 kWh battery, pushing the range up to 700 km.

As we said above, the next 3008 looks like SUV COUPE, with a very inclined telescope, as we can see below. For the look, it will be a transitional vehicle.

Indeed, the model was first designed under the leadership of Gilles Vidal, who had worked on the previous one. But Gilles Vidal left in 2020 at Renault. His successor Matthias Hossann therefore saw what could be. So there will be a mix of two influences, the Vidal style and the Hossann style ! The latter notably reworked the light signature at the front, which is in the form of three large claws, as on the restyled 508. But for the rest, we find the very angular and ribbed aspect of the Peugeot era vidal, in the continuity of the 408.

What engines and autonomies ?

The new 3008 will have the privilege of inaugurating the first Stla base, the medium. However, this is not completely unprecedented, it is derived from the current EMP2, revised to be adapted to the electric motorization. The brand has already confirmed that three engines will be available, including a four -wheel drive configuration. There will be two battery sizes, the largest having a capacity of 98 kWh. It will give 700 km of autonomy. The “little” will give 500 km of autonomy.

What price ?

There, it will sting. Already with the current 3008, Peugeot is well risen upmarket. The PHEV version is displayed from 45.000 € ! And no question of backing up with the next one, the lion playing the card of the premium generalist manufacturer. No doubt that the basic version of the E-3008 will approach the 50.000 €, unless Peugeot adapts to the bonus limit, set at 47.000 €. However, by marketing, the rules of the bonus will surely change !

What a calendar ?

Peugeot confirmed a presentation of the E-3008 in September 2023. But do not expect deliveries before at the best, early 2024. The vehicle will always be produced in Sochaux.

What competition ?

It will be vast, especially since the news will multiply within a year. Indeed, on the side of general manufacturers, Ford will launch an ambitious explorer and Renault will reinvent its scenic in the form of a 100 % electric SUV. We must not forget the competition in the Stellantis group, since Opel will launch in 2024 a Grandland Electric Derived from the E-3008. Peugeot also wants to hunt on premium lands. It intends to attract customers of Audi Q4 e-tron and BMW IX1/IX2. Without forgetting those of Tesla Model y !
