Presentation

For this new generation of its city car 208, Peugeot has decided to offer in parallel with the traditional thermal engine version, a 100% electric version “E-208”.

On the form, nothing changes between the thermal versions and the electric, except a few details outside. Unlike its twin, the battery city car is equipped with a grille with a few blue patterns reminiscent of this new face of the vehicle. Peugeot also placed some monograms representing an “e” around the car. For the rest, no major change to note compared to other versions of the new generation.

Inside

The E-208 cockpit is made up of a digital dashboard whose user can choose the composition. Oriented towards the driver, the dashboard, with a touch screen and original shapes, offers it an enveloping space.

Motorization and battery

With the 50 kWh battery of raw capacity, the electric city car reaches a range of 340 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. On the driving side, this Peugeot E-208 has three modes: eco, normal and sport, impacting in particular the level of power available over the maximum 136 hp that the block can deliver. A key accentuating the deceleration and recovery of energy at the foot sunrise is present on the central box control, the “B” mode.

What autonomy for the electric 208 ?

Our opinion

The city car E-208 does not seek, unlike many others, to look like an electric car at all costs. Apart from a few logos and the removal of the exhaust, it is the same, with a dynamic silhouette, just like its chassis, pleasant on all types of roads. Especially since the interior finish turns out to be well done, enhanced by a rewarding upholstery, mixing imitation leather, fabric and alcantara, in gray and black, stacking with green and blue. Its autonomy finally represents the most limiting criterion. If the 340 km announced are sufficient in urban use and could also make it possible to envisage a little versatility, our estimate of autonomy measurement rather around 240 km, already more clearly refocusing its use in the city and its surroundings, d ‘As much as the space on board is limited to the legs in the rear seats as well as in the trunk, with 311 liters of volume. We just expected more than one battery of 383 kg to the capacity of 50 kWh.

Peugeot E-208 (version 2023)

For its restyling planned for mid-2023, and even a little before on the entry-level “Like” finish of the current E-208, in the first trimester, the city car will be equipped with the new electric block signed Emotors, the joint venture between the ex-group PSA and Nidec, Japanese equipment manufacturer. What give it a power increase of 20 horsepower, or 156 horsepower and an unchanged torque of 260 Nm. The battery takes the opportunity to go from 50 kWh to 51 kWh of raw capacity but a slightly greater gain in useful capacity, going from 46.4 kWh to 48.1 kWh. The brand advances a drop in consumption which would place its autonomy at 400 km according to the WLTP cycle.

Peugeot E-20 Electric test 50 kWh 136ch GT

There Peugeot E-208, fully electric version of the 2nd generation 208, was launched in early 2020. It completes the range made up previously models with conventional thermal motorization. The new 208 shares a PSA platform which was designed with a view to electrification with the Opel Corsa and the DS3 Crossback. The car tested is the E-208 in high-end GT finish whose sporting appearance is reinforced by the impressive radiator grid, a lot of chrome, the front optics with 3 claws and the shiny black garnish housing the rear led lights. Inside, the appearance of the materials used and the feeling it generates are excellent. The brilliant elements, the “carbon” type coating and the decorative stitching add a class of class.
