There is new in the electric 208 offer. At the start of the school year, the E-208 goes downmarket. The Like base finish, so far reserved for the modest atmospheric petrol engine of 75 hp, is now available with the electric motor.

It always develops up to 100 kW, or 136 hp. On the other hand, there is a revised battery. And contrary to what one might think, on this basic version, it is not smaller … but bigger. The raw capacity goes from 50 to 52 kWh. Thanks to this, Peugeot announced a 400 km range, compared to 362 km for the active model (the rest of the range remaining at 50 kWh for the moment).

The other good news is that the equipment does not do in the stripped. The thermal Like version already has automatic emergency braking in series, the active alert with involuntary white line crossing, the recognition of speed panels, the driver’s attention alert, the electric front windows, the cruise control, the cruise control, the cruise control, Manual air conditioning or radio (on 5 inch touch screen).

The electric version is enjoying automatic air conditioning and a 7 -inch touch screen. It also adds the electric rear windows, recognition of the extended signal panels or the disgusting mirrors.

In addition, its appearance is not as “basic” as the thermal like, since there are 16 -inch wheels here with the wheel arches in shiny black. On the other hand, there are not LED’s “fangs” under the headlights. On board, we have the high console with the integrated armrest and the dashboard with padded plastics.

So what is the price ? Excluding bonuses of € 6,000, it is € 33,000, or € 1,550 less than the E-208 Active variant. This loses greatly in interest, because it is distinguished above all by series navigation, with the Mirror Screen function, and therefore has less autonomy.

Displayed € 1,550 less than the previous E-208 the cheapest (active finish), its price is € 33,000 all round (excluding CO2 bonuses of € 6,000), € 700 less than the most Renault Zoé Accessible (R110 Balance). The characteristics of the E-208 Like are still not officially shared but we are talking about a battery with the same capacity of 52 kWh as its rival in diamond (2 kWh more than the other 208 zero emission) and autonomy in cycle cycle mixed 400 km, against 395 km for the Zoé. In other words, they would be on the same equal footing.

Obviously, we will have to wait for this new E-208 to pass on our test bench. According to our measures made on the 2022 vintage, the recent improvements to other versions of the electric 208 have borne their fruit on autonomies, up on all cycles. Nevertheless, the Zoé still retains a hell of a step ahead. It is therefore not won for this like version.

A rich endowment for an entry -level level

Failing to impress its radius of action, the Peugeot can seduce with its rich and modern endowment. Compared to the Puretech petrol version 75 hp like, the basic e-208 wins the air conditioning, electric rear windows, hands-free starting, a larger touch screen (7 “against 5” for thermal) With Apple Carplay and Android Auto function for comfort or even a leather steering wheel, foaming plastics and larger hubcaps (16 “and not 15”) for a more chic presentation. Suffice to say that she does not forget anything and that she does not have the look of a 208 at a discount, a rather skilful way of attracting buyers to this variation.

The Zoé, which could take advantage of its advanced age to offer more, does not offer better. The air conditioning is manual, only the front windows are electric, no leather steering wheel and smaller hubcaps (15 “). In short, a real surprise for the 208 which had never distinguished itself in terms of the price-team report since it was completely renewed in 2019.
