For a little less than a year, the parking of motorcycles and scooters in Paris has become paying. A small revolution that includes multiple derogations. In addition to healthcare professionals or people with reduced mobility, users of two-wheelers-electric scooters and motorcycles-are also exempt.

To take advantage of this advantage, users had to bring proof accessible from a parking meter or via an application. In his absence, the fine was inevitable, although questionable.

If the arrangement had been imagined to allow the police to recognize more easily exempt vehicles and calm their owners, they had the opposite effect. In question: poor circulation of information and the difficulty of obtaining these tickets, especially for people outside the capital. The direct consequence was the explosion in the number of post-storming packages (formerly PV). Out of the hundred thousands delivered each week, 4,000 are disputed. Complaints only succeeded in 50 % of the cases, and took a monster time to examine, to the point of having to wait almost 8 months to be reimbursed. Hence the will of the City of Paris to put an end to the compulsory ticket for people exempt to both relieve its services and simplify the daily life of users.

From September onwards

The removal of the compulsory ticket for electric two-wheelers, health personnel and PMR will take effect from September. It should make it possible to settle all the procedures in progress by the end of 2023 and to go, in the future, to 2 months deadlines in the event of a dispute.
