Philips 48Oled807 test: the small fully equipped OLED TV
The Philips 48Oled807 uses a sub-pixel structure identical to that of the LG 65C2 which uses a latest generation OLED EX slab. However, as we said, the peak of brightness is not comparable. The operation of the OLED panel is identical to that of other models equipped by LG Display. The blue and green subpixels are in the shape of fairly fine sticks, while the red sub-pixel is larger in order to support a higher brightness peak, while maintaining a color temperature close to the 6500 k. OLED technology offers very good vision angles and limits the loss of brightness to 45 ° to 18 %-but we now find even better on the side of QD-OLED with an almost zero loss at 45 °. Obviously, there is no variation on black, the sub-pixels being extinguished individually.

Philips 48Oled807 test: the small fully equipped OLED TV
The Philips OLED807 has everything done in a “small” TV: an OLED Ultra HD slab, the sixth generation Philips P5 processor, a light sensor associated with an Ambient Intelligence mode, an audio 2 system 2.1 of 70 W, the HDMI 2.1 4K/120 Hz VR and of course the Ambilight system specific to the Philips brand.
Presentation
The Philips 48Oled807 has the new OLED ex -10 bits of 48 inch (≈122 cm) displaying an ultra HD definition of 3840 x 2160 pixels. If it is indeed a latest generation slab, the peak of brightness is more limited than that of 55 -inch and more OLED televisions. LG Display explains that the pixel density on the slabs of 42 and 48 inch does not increase the brightness effectively. The television keeps its original ambient lighting system ambilight on four sides, but the system is much more precise. These are no longer green, blue and red diodes to generate each color, but three RGB diodes. The OLED807 incorporates the sixth version of the Philips P5 AI video processor which supports the ambient brightness sensor in order to adapt the image to the surrounding lighting. This television also stands out for the integration of a rotating central foot, an accessory that has become very rare on televisions, and even more on high -end models. Everything is hosted by Android 11.
The Philips 48led807 is currently sold around € 1,300. All larger models have a brighter Oled ex slab, but the features remain identical. It is thus available in versions 55 (Philips 55led807), 65 (Philips 65led807) and 77 inch (Philips 77led807) at the respective prices of 1600, 2000 and 3900 €.
All the brightness and colorimetry measures mentioned in this article were carried out with a C6-HDR spectracal probe and the Calmanate software.
Image quality

Filmmaker mode displays a simply perfect image quality. With an average delta e of 1 – largely less than 3, under which the eye no longer distinguishes the drifts -, the colors displayed are faithful to those sent by the source, and all the more since no color exceeds a Delta e of 3. The temperature curve is perfectly stable on the entire spectrum and the average measured at 6,500 k is wedged on the reference value of the video standard. Same observation for the gamma curve with an average of 2.41, close to the reference 2.4, which results in levels of perfectly reproduced gray. OLED technology obliges, the contrast is considered to be infinite since each pixel can go out individually, which ensures unequaled precision of blacks, even very deep.
The Philips P5 AI video processor of sixth generation brings little improvement compared to the previous generation already excellent. The Perfect Picture Engine scaling engine is still as efficient. If cinema enthusiasts will go their way, aficionados of image improvements will be won over by the performance of this processing which allows you to transform an image from an HD or Full HD source in ultra HD image with a stunning level of detail. In filmmaker mode, this treatment is disabled for a much softer scaling, thus avoiding artefacts. Cinema enthusiasts will however be impressed by the performance of the Movement Compensation Engine P5 Perfect Natural Motion. Philips is clearly at the forefront in this area and shows that it is possible to produce perfectly clear images in motion without forcing fluidity. The Perfect Clear Motion engine eliminates the blur behind the moving objects and thus displays a perfect image. The novelty introduced by this sixth generation is above all the management of the brightness sensor which makes it possible to lead the dark areas when you look at certain content during the day, at the cost of a loss of loyalty, as is the case with Dolby Vision IQ or FilmMaker With Intelligent Sensing at Panasonic, for example.

Hdr
The Philips 48Oled807 is compatible with all HDR formats, be it the Dolby Vision and HDR10+dynamic metadata formats, or the HDR10 and HLG classics.
With a maximum HDR signal at 10,000 cd/m², the Tone Mapping Display used by Philips follows the reference eotf curve, while being very slightly above. From 65 % luminance, the signal is smoothed in order to keep details in the light zones to the maximum capacity of the TV. The Philips 48led807 is satisfied with a brightness peak of 685 cd/m² in FilmMaker mode and in Home Cinema mode. It is a little less than the 750 cd/m² of the Philips 55led856 and much less than the 824 cd/m² of the Philips 65led936, but it is rather classic for a slab under 55 inches. This peak of brightness still makes it possible to produce a beautiful dynamic of the image in the dark, but the television will have a little more harm in broad daylight in a highly enlightened room. In this case, high-end LCD televisions with a brightness peak greater than 1500 cd/m² such as the Samsung Qe65qn95a (1570 CD/m²) and Sony Bravia XR-75Z9J (2260 CD/M²). This curve is obtained with the setting of the perfect HDR to minimum, the smoothing may be accentuated with the average and maximum modes. When the perfect HDR is disabled, the reference curve is perfectly followed with the loss of detail between 70 and 100 % luminance. This regal is interesting with the game consoles which has their own threshold setting clipping.
With an average delta e measured at 2.7, the colors are considered to be faithful to those sent by the source. Finally, like all the other OLED televisions, this Philips model perfectly covers the DCI-P3 color space (97 %), widely used by cinema, but not yet completely.2020 (71 %).
