The new electric Moke is very expensive

Now 100% electric, the pretty Moke Star of Saint-Tropez summers costs € 23,990 ecological bonuses deducted. It is much more expensive than a Citroën Friend or a Renault Twizy, but the car has a homologation of real car unlike the latter.

The new electric Moke is very expensive

Everyone loves the Mini Moke, this famous beach car designed in 1964 by the inventor of the city car. Originally developed to serve as a light vehicle in the British army, this kind of reduction jeep with small wheels has quickly become essential in the upscale corners of the Côte d’Azur in summer. In 2018, the company that became Moke International had resumed the manufacture of this emblematic model, moved by a new four -cylinder petrol engine and with a modernized chassis (with a choice of manual transmission or automatic transmission). But since 2022, the Moke has increased to 100% electric.

The new electric Moke International Moke is still made in England

With a generator with a power of 10.8 kW (14.6 horsepower), the Moke has lithium-ion batteries weighing 77 kilos on the scale. Moke International announces a range of 120 kilometers and a maximum speed of only 80 km/h (with a 0 to 55 km/h shot in 4.5 seconds). Even if these power and performance figures are closer to the category of heavy quadricycles, it is however a real car (category M1) approved as such, with all that that implies in terms of safety standards and crash test. Pure propulsion, it recharges in four hours on a classic socket.

An elitist prize

Like the thermal moke known for its elitist pricing, the new electric version is very expensive: € 29,990 in base price, or € 23,990 once the ecological bonus of € 6,000 deduces. It therefore costs significantly more than Dacia Spring and flirts dangerously with that of a Renault Zoé (from € 33,700 before bonus), despite performance rather in a Renault Twizy 80 (17 horses, 80 km /h at top speed, € 12,300). There are also options such as the complete awning with doors or individual personalization elements. We bet that we will soon find it in front of the most beautiful palaces of the French Riviera.
