After Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+, we are now drawing up the list of new features in the channel catalog each month+.

In September 2023, Several quality content come to garnish the catalog of the encrypted chain and its streaming platform.

Side movies, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Babylon And The Fabelmans come in particular to the poster. Series side, 66-5 and the new season of The Morning Show make their arrival.

MyCanal hosts more modern program sheets and technical optimization

Version 5.9 of MyCanal released this week on Apple platforms brought two significant new features. One is visible immediately, the other is more hidden. The one that is visible is the overhaul of the program sheets, which needed dusting.

Better structured, the new sheets are more readable and more practical. The buttons Download, Playlist, Opinion and Share have been gathered side by side under the new reading button. The various information on the program is better distinguished and the criticisms of the spectators of Allociné and Télérama appear.

The new sheets are also more modern, since they include trailers of films and series. By default, the trailers automatically launch after a few seconds, but you can deactivate this behavior if you wish (Your profile > Settings > Automatic reading > Automatic reading of the trailer)). By scrolling the sheets, you can access similar programs and possible other trailers.

We lose one thing with these new sheets, the availability duration of the program visible directly, but it is information that we find in the detailed file (by touching “more info”) and which is always put forward in his personal playlist as approaching the expiration.

The second significant novelty of MyCanal, that which is less apparent (and which is gradually deployed), concerns a technical aspect of the service. The API system that makes the link between the apps and the server infrastructure has been optimized.

To schematize, the old API system, nicknamed Hodor, could involve the creation of many pages cache versions (home page, programs, FAQ, etc.) dynamically served for users. With the new API system, called Drogon, the pages are only generated if and only if necessary. “So we have a massive reduction in the number of variants generated, from the need for servers, and therefore a much better cache and much better performance ! »», explains the mycanal technical team to us.

On the occasion of this update, the service technical team announces that it seeks to grow with iOS and additional tvos developers. The details are in the application version notes.

The MyCanal platform includes Canal+, TNT channels and other paid channels depending on the subscription. The offers start at € 20.99/month (or € 12.49/month for those under 26) currently.
