Two months after the announcement of the restyling of its 508 sedan, Peugeot has just unveiled the new version of the 2008. With 700,000 copies sold since 2019, 2008 occupied first place in sales in Europe on its urban SUV segment in 2021. We therefore understand that Peugeot wishes to reaffirm this bestseller . New Peugeot 2008: a more characteristic design

The front panel is reviewed on the occasion of this restyling. This first includes the 3 famous LED claws under the optics. They are integrated into shiny black inserts which bring more relief to the front shield.

Profile of the new 2008

The profile remains in the continuity of what we know on the 2008. The mirrors will now be black, regardless of the color of your bodywork. New 2008 (2023): thermal and electric engines

The 2008 SUV 2023 vintage offers 3 thermal engines: 2 petrol engines and a diesel engine.

The Puretech 130 hp petrol engine is always present is may be associated with a 6 -speed manual gearbox or the 8 -speed EAT8 automatic transmission. The Puretech petrol engine developing 100 hp is also always available and will be coupled with the 6 -speed manual gearbox in all cases.

Side diesel, 2008 retains the BlueHDI 130 hp diesel engine. It will always be coupled with the EAT8 automatic gearbox.

Finally, from 2024, the Peugeot 2008 SUV will offer a new hybrid engine of 136 hp. This light hybridization version will rest on the 1 petrol block 1.2 PureTech. This will be embellished with a 48V hybrid system, which should reduce consumption by 15% according to the manufacturer. This hybrid engine is similar to that announced for the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs .

Electric 2008 engine 2023

The 100% electric version Peugeot E-2008 takes advantage of its restyling to update its motorization. The power of its engine goes from 136 hp (100 kW) to 156 hp (115 kW).

Battery capacity also increases. It progresses from 50 kWh to 54 kWh. Peugeot specifies an important work on the effectiveness of its equipment: this makes it possible to pass the autonomy of the electric SUV from 345 to 406 km in the mixed cycle WLTP cycle.

The new Peugeot 2008 restyled displays a style quite different from that of the recent 508 restyled. It keeps almost the same thermal engines but progresses in its electric version E-2008, now given for 406 km of autonomy.

Here it is, this restyled Peugeot 2008. Launched in 2019, the brand’s city SUV goes through the traditional stage of the facade restoration to remain competitive in a more competitive category than ever. After a 508 sedan restyled with deep aesthetic modifications, the approach is more shy on the crossover with a front side which does not mark real break with the previous version. He sports the three LED “fangs” under the optics, now essential, and a grille with different integration. But we stay here as part of a fairly classic restyling and the machine does not give a big stroke of old to 2008 “phase 1”.

The cabin does not hide a revolution either and has the usual technological improvements applied during these mid-carrier updates. All versions of the 2008 now have a 10-inch touch screen on the central console (with the latest generation of Peugeot I-Connect software), where the old one was satisfied with 7 inches on its basic finishes. The digital instrumentation handset has new design and keeps a 3D display on the GT finish. On the other hand, the active basic finish retains its analog instrumentation combination. The equipment does not inform any revolutionary system but provided that you go through high finishes and options, it will be possible to equip the restyled 2008 with all essential driving aids on the market.

A new micro-hybrid engine and a better electric version

Under the hood, the 2008 will embark in 2024 the micro-hybrid petrol block of 136 horsepower with automatic double clutch gear, inaugurated by the 3008 and 5008. In the meantime, it is the good old PureTech 130 with Eat8 box (or 6-speed manual gearbox) that will form the heart of range, above the puretech 100 horsepower with manual gearbox and next to the BlueHDI 130 with EAT8 automatic gearbox.

The most important novelty concerns the electric E-2008, which logically adopts the motorcycle group of the Opel Mokka Electric, Jeep Avenger and DS 3 E-Tense. So here he is with a 156 horsepower engine (against 136 previously) and batteries with a gross capacity of 54 kWh (instead of 50 previously). The theoretical autonomy (WLTP approval) climbs to 406 km against 345 for the old model, which positions it slightly below a Kia E-Niro given at 455 km thanks to larger batteries (64 kWh). Like all other stellantis vehicles equipped with this powertrain, it will limit its charging power to 100 kW in direct current (enough to go from 20 to 80% battery load in 30 minutes). In direct current, it will be 7.4 kW or 11 kW in three -phase as an option. Always produced in Vigo in Spain, the restyled 2008 will unveil its prices in a few weeks during the opening of the order book.
