Video records in camera are defined on 30 images per second (IPS) by default. Depending on the iPhone model you have, you can choose other image frequency and video resolution settings. Faster image frequencies and better resolutions involve larger video files.

You can also use switches to quickly and easily change video resolution and image frequency directly from camera screen.

Use switches to change video resolution and image frequency

In video mode, use switches at the top of the screen to change video resolution and image frequencies available on the iPhone.

Touch the switches in the upper right corner to switch between HD or 4K recordings, and between frequencies of 24, 25, 30 or 60 IPS in video mode, depending on your model.

On iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models, switches are available in kinematic mode. They allow you to switch between HD or 4K recordings and frequencies of 24, 25 or 30 IPS.

Adjust the settings of IPS Auto

The iPhone can improve video quality in low light conditions by automatically reducing the 24 IPS image frequency.

Access Settings> Camera> Save a video, then perform one of the following operations, according to your model:

  • Touch “IPS Auto”, then apply this setting only to videos at 30 IPS, or videos at 30 IPS and 60 IPS.
  • Activate “fewer IPS in low lighting”.

Activate and deactivate stereo recording

The iPhone uses several microphones to offer stereo sound.

To deactivate stereo recording, go to settings> camera, then deactivate “Save stereo sound”.

Activate and deactivate HDR videos

On compatible models, the iPhone saves HDR videos and shares them with the IOS 13 devices.4, iPados 13.4 or macOS 10.15.4 or later. The other devices receive an SDR version of the same video.

To deactivate HDR recording, go to settings> Camera> Save a video, then deactivate “HDR video”.

Activate and deactivate “lock the camera”

On iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models, “locking the camera” setting prevents automatic tilting between cameras while recording a video. The “lock the camera” setting is deactivated by default.

To activate it, go to settings> camera> Save a video, then activate “lock the camera”.

Activate and deactivate “improved stabilization”

On iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models, the “improved stabilization” setting makes a slight zoom before to improve stabilization during recordings in video and kinematic mode mode. The “improved stabilization” setting is activated by default.

To deactivate “improved stabilization”, go to settings> camera> save a video, then deactivate “improved stabilization”.

Activate and deactivate “Lock the white balance”

You can lock the white balance when you save videos on your iPhone to get a more precise color rendering, depending on the light conditions.

To activate it, go to settings> Camera> Save a video, then activate “Lock the white balance”.

Modify the resolution of the main camera

On iPhone 15 models, resolution of the main camera is defined on 24 MP by default. You can switch between the following resolutions: 12 MP, 24 m and 48MP.

Access Settings> Camera> Formats> Photo mode, then choose “12 MP” or “24 MP”.

To obtain a resolution of 48 MP, go to settings> Camera> Formats, then activate “resolution control” or “resolution control and Apple Proraw” (depending on your model).

On the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you can choose the default format after activating the “Resolution and Apple Proraw option” option. Tap “Pro format by default”, then choose an option. Open camera, then touch the button at the top of the screen to activate or deactivate the format you have chosen. Hold your finger on the button to select another format.

Activate and deactivate “Show the elements outside the frame”

On compatible models, the camera preview displays the content out of the frame to show you what can be captured using another lens of the camera system with a wider field of vision. The “Show items out of the frame” option is activated by default.

To deactivate “Show the elements out of the frame”, go to settings> camera, then deactivate “Show the elements out of the frame”.

Activate and deactivate “give priority to quick photo taking”

The setting “Give priority to the quick photo taking” modifies the way the images are processed, so that you can take more photos when you quickly press the shutter button. The setting “Giving priority to quick photo taking” is activated by default.

To deactivate it, go to settings> Camera, then deactivate “Give priority to the quick photo taking”.

Activate and deactivate “Objective correction”

On compatible models, the “lens correction” setting allows you to adjust the photos taken with the front camera or the ultra-angle camera, for more natural results. The “objective correction” setting is activated by default.

To deactivate it, go to settings> camera, then deactivate “Objective correction”.

Activate and deactivate “scene detection”

On iPhone 12 models, the “scene detection” setting can identify what you are taking a picture and apply a tailor -made style to bring out the best elements of the scene. The “scene detection” setting is activated by default.

To deactivate it, go to settings> camera, then deactivate “scene detection”.

Change your mac screen resolution

The resolution of your monitor determines the size of the text and objects on your screen. By default, your Mac automatically uses the best resolution for your monitor. Even if it is preferable to use the default resolution, you can adjust the resolution manually in order to enlarge objects and text on the screen, or vice versa, shrink them to have more space on your screen.

Define the resolution of your main instructor

  1. On your Mac, choose the Apple menu

> System settings, then click Monitors in the sidebar. You may have to scroll down. Open monitor settings

  • Select a resolution.
    • If you see a presentation in the form of vignettes of the available resolutions, move the pointer on the vignettes to see the resolution sizes, then click on that of your choice.
    • To display the resolutions available in the form of a list, click on the presentation in the form of vignettes while maintaining the control key and choose “Display the list”. Then click on the resolution of your choice. To return to the presentation in the form of vignettes, click on the presentation in the form of a list by maintaining the control key and choose “Display the vignettes”.
  • To always see the resolutions available in the form of a list, click Advanced, then activate “Show resolutions in the form of a list”.

    Define the resolution of a connected monitor

    If you have several monitors, additional resolution options are available after connection of the other instructor.

      On your Mac, choose the Apple menu

    > System settings, then click Monitors in the sidebar. You may have to scroll down. Open monitor settings

  • Select the screen you want to set, then select the resolution you want to use. You may be able to activate “display all resolutions” to display other resolutions for the monitor.
  • Depending on the resolution you choose, some apps windows may not hold completely on the screen. The use of a scale resolution can affect performance.
