In March, Microsoft unveiled his new assistant boosted by artificial intelligence: Microsoft 365 Copilot. This assistant combines GPT-4, the most advanced OpenAi language model, with Microsoft Graph data and Microsoft 365 applications. He can therefore help you in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or Teams. For the moment only accessible in private preview, Copilot should be available for all current 2023. Here are 10 examples that show the capacities of this new tool.
1. Generate text from documents in Word
In Word, Copilot can allow you to save precious time, both in writing and in the formatting of your documents. You must, for example, create a document summarizing or describing a professional project. You can ask Copilot, directly in Word, to generate the desired text by specifying to take as sources of data present in this or that file resulting from the Microsoft 365 suite. The assistant will then write your document, of which it will then be possible to adapt the style from a previous presentation. Copilot will automatically make this adaptation work, as in the video below.
2. Create a PowerPoint presentation with Copilot
Microsoft Copilot can transform a written document into PowerPoint presentation. The assistant has the ability to create slides, give them a visual identity or use the charter of your business or your brand, as well as highlight your strengths thanks to varied titles and fonts. By exchanging with the chatbot, you can modify proposed slides, as make them more visual if you consider that they contain too much text. Copilot also allows you to add animations to your presentation using a simple request, or to summarize for you a too dense PowerPoint document.
3. Use Dall-E for the creation of PowerPoint visuals
Dall-e, the Openai images generator, can help you make your PowerPoint unique presentations. Indeed, the tool is integrated into Microsoft software. It can allow you to create personalized illustrations and images using a simple request made to generative artificial intelligence. Dall-e is already present in Bing Image Creator and Microsoft Designer, the alternatives of the American firm with IA generation of images like Midjourney and with graphic design tools such as Canva. Directly available in PowerPoint, Dall-e wants to be a creative support for your presentations.
4. Analyze data from an Excel table with Copilot
The complexity of certain Excel tables can be off -putting. Especially when you have to analyze the data. Microsoft Copilot helps highlight the essential points of your document. You can indeed ask the assistant to summarize you in key points a table containing hundreds of data. But that’s not all, Copilot can also generate new tables from your database, especially if you want to extract some. The tool is also capable of creating graphics directly in Excel, as well as producing estimates or anticipation scenarios using the information present in your tables.
5. Take stock of a project in Teams thanks to Copilot and Business Chat
Microsoft Copilot incorporates a functionality called Business Chat in Teams. Connected to the Microsoft 365 environment and to the data generated by each user, such as cats, emails, notes, it allows you to create summaries of conversations and information. For example, it is possible to ask Business Chat to summarize everything that happened during a working day or around a particular project. The tool will look for the information available in all Microsoft 365 applications to generate feedback in Teams with links to employees and/or documents concerned. And if you have to present this project and its advances during a meeting, Copilot can generate an agenda thanks to the compiled elements.
6. Get the summary of a meeting in Teams
Still in Teams, Microsoft Copilot offers the possibility of generating an advanced summary of a meeting or a presentation. The assistant will indeed use the script for exchanges to create a summary and collaborative document. You will be notified in Teams of the availability of the document, which will integrate the shared files at the meeting, will summarize the discussions, list the tasks to be accomplished by the participants and may be shared with all the people mentioned. You can ask the assistant to the assistant on this or that point, who will answer them with the sources used while giving the context and the reflection having led to a decision rather than another.
7. Optimizing the organization of Outlook with Copilot
In Outlook, Copilot can help you sort your reception boxes. The AI can prioritize your emails according to their sender or their content, on mobile as on desktop. The assistant also has the capacity to summarize long exchanges, including several emails. Of course, Copilot has the possibility of writing emails from a request or a document from the Microsoft 365 suite. The answer generated can be published, in terms of length as in the tone used.
8. Write inspiring posts in VI viva engage
In 2023, Microsoft Yammer will become Microsoft Viva hired. The tool, designed as an internal social network for companies and organizations, will also integrate Copilot. The assistant will offer her help in writing posts, for example from a quarterly assessment to announce the results to the teams. Copilot will generate an example of a publication, that it will be possible to edit and personalize. You can adjust the tone, the length, add images using the dedicated generator or even ask the AI to attach to the publication of questions, surveys, in order to maximize the commitment of your audience.
9. Design work flows in Power Automate
Copilot allows you to create workflows easily, using a simple request in Power Automate. For example, it is possible to ask the assistant to set up a notification in Teams when an element is added to SharePoint. Copilot will set up the trigger for the flow, and create the resulting action. This feature allows you to detach from time -consuming tasks in order to optimize team productivity.
10. Create an application thanks to Copilot in Power Apps
In Microsoft Power Apps, it will be possible to design applications with Copilot assistance. Through some conversational exchanges with the chatbot, AI will strive to create an application that meets your needs. You can ask him for example a solution “To automate the process of creating and approving customer invoices”. You can modify, before the final creation, some of its elements, by extending your conversation with Copilot. The latter may also make suggestions to improve your application, so that no data is forgotten or left at random. AI will then be responsible for building the requested app.
