Higher rates than competition

Where the rub is on the price side. EQS SUV is as expensive as its imposing size. It starts at € 142,900 in a 480 4Matic version, Only associated with an AMG LINE finish. It is € 7,050 more than the sedan, which offers a slightly different entry level with a 450+ variation (Propulsion, 333 hp). The latter also exists on the EQS SUV, but does not seem to be offered in France. The XXL rate is much higher than that of its direct competitor, the BMW IX. In its XDRIVE40 version of 326 hp, the electric Bavarian starts at 94,060 € !
At the top of the range, The 580 4Matic variant of the EQS SUV starts at € 160,750. It therefore returns almost € 6,000 to the EQS sedan with equivalent version and finish (from € 166,900). On the other hand, the SUV is much more expensive than its equivalent at BMW, the IX XDRIVE50 of 523 hp. This one, which offers 607 km of autonomy, starts at € 125,560 ! For its part, Tesla has just opened the order notebooks of its Model X Plaid, which offers 1,020 hp and 528 km of autonomy. This is even cheaper than the entry-level of the Mercedes, with 141,990 € required for the American SUV.

A single AMG Line version and several options

Like the sedan eqs, the only finish available is therefore the AMG line, very complete. It has in particular a specific aesthetic kit, 21 -inch rims, but also automatic air conditioning four zones, a burmester sound, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a head display -Haute, from a 12.8 -inch central screen, or even cameras for panoramic vision ..
But it is still possible to add options ! An AMG Line Premium Plus (€ 1,500) pack allows you to obtain the heated steering wheel, the heated rear seats or the Energizing pack. Unveiled a few months ago, the Mercedes Eqs is the new flagship of the star firm. The electric class of the class S is actually very different: this EQS has been developed to be a 100% electric vehicle and to satisfy the driver more than the rear passengers. And as the EQS has been almost unanimous in the world press when it was released, we wanted to check this with the “entry -level” variant, the EQS 450+ AMG LINE.

Yes, Mercedes speaks of 784 kilometers of autonomy ! It’s colossal, and above all a little idyllic since it concerns driving in an urban cycle. But the German firm still speaks 700 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. This is even much better than an S class with equivalent power that has a petrol v8. Autonomy is obviously the nerve of war and this is where Mercedes strikes hard. However, to achieve such efficiency, the EQS 450+ is not given.

You might as well admit it, the second nerve of the electric war is the price. And there too the EQS is champion. Even with the “small” 450+, it will be necessary to sign a check for 128.000 euros minimum and even almost 160.000 euros for our test model equipped with the AMG LINE finishing level. And do not dream of any ecological bonus at this level of pricing, it is no longer granted to you from 60.Euros.

Fortunately, with such an exorbitant price, the services are up to. This 5.22 -meter -long monster, 1.93 meters wide and 3.21 meters of wheelbase deserves its title of flagship or luxury limousine. Suffice to say that there is room inside, in the front and back. On the weight side, it is not the lightest either: the 450+ version of our test displays 2.480 kg on the scale. As the weight is the enemy of performance, but also consumption, Mercedes has worked a lot on the drag coefficient. The one that is inspired by the Vision Eqs concept displays a CX of 0.20… a world record all segments combined.

Aerodynamics and style compatible ?

And the curious people who come to question us are even more so when they pass their heads inside the passenger compartment. If the adjustable adjustable seats at the rear are already having a good impression, it is especially the hyperscreen which harvests all the laurels.

The limousine that will steal the work of drivers

If a Mercedes Class S appreciates more at the front, this is not necessarily the case with an EQS. This is the reason why they will coexist within the Mercedes range for some time. And even possibly families thanks to its 610-liter trunk which can increase to almost 2-meters after the rear bench.

And I confirm that the seduction operation could work. Hyperscreen is still as simple to use, even better than more classic MBUX systems. Too bad this is still an option on our test model. And not least: you have to sign a check for 8.650 euros to benefit from this famous giant screen. Especially since being one of the major advantages of this car, it seems essential to check the box at the time of the signing of the order form. Especially if you want to take advantage of the performance and comfort comfort of this EQS 450+. Indeed, do not forget the 333 horsepower (245 kW) and the 565 nm of torque available immediately. It still offers a 0 to 100 km/h shot in just 6.2 seconds. Impressive for such a monster.
