Mercedes unveils a new version of its EQA and EQB compact SUVs. The new features are quite minor, but make it possible to increase the autonomy of the models by a few kilometers.

Mercedes EQA and EQB electric compact SUVs receive a mid-carrier restyling, shortly after their GLA and GLB thermal brothers. They are indeed based on them, despite an important work of designers to offer them a clean personality.

The voice assistant has also been improved and allows certain functions to be carried out without pronouncing the keywords “Hey Mercedes”, while the touchpad positioned on the central console has disappeared.
Up to 50 km of autonomy won
If the batteries of 66.5 and 70.5 kWh useful from the different versions of EQA and EQB are unchanged, Mercedes has managed to increase their autonomy by reducing their consumption.
The engineers managed to reduce the aerodynamic trail of the two cars and offered them new tires with low resistance to rolling. A maximization function of autonomy also makes it possible to reduce consumption. “Energy consumers such as screen or air conditioning can be extinguished or their limited functionality in favor of greater autonomy”, explains Mercedes. The maximum WLTP mixed autonomy thus goes from 529 to 560 km for the EQA (EQA 250+ version), and from 486 to 536 km for the EQB (EQB 250+ version), or up to 50 km additional.
In addition, the EQB can now be equipped with a tow ball. It will be marketed after the launch of the restyled version and only in five -seater version, while the model is also offered in seven -seater configuration. The towing capacity of the Traction version is 1400 kg, against 1,700 kg for four -wheel drive models 4Matic.
Finally, the restyled eqa and eqb receive the plug & load of Mercedes me in charge. It is therefore now possible to start a load session on a public terminal without prior to authenticate. The car and the terminal communicate directly with each other, like a Tesla on a supercharger, for example.
The prices of the restyled versions of the EQA and EQB are not yet known, while the new models will arrive in concession in early 2024.

The voice command has been improved and it can now suggest the use of certain applications.
OTA UTA updates are also part of the endowment to buy additional features. The dimensions do not change and the vehicle keeps its trunk Oscillating between 340 and 1,320 liters. If the touchpad disappears on the central console, the steering wheel has new touch controls. An idea to which Volkswagen returned last year.
Autonomy increasing
If most restylages only concern the aesthetic aspect, that operated by Mercedes on his EQA does not satisfy. Indeed, the manufacturer has also improved the autonomy of its electric SUV, which goes from 529 to 560 kilometers depending on the WLTP cycle, thanks to the addition of 18 -inch tires with low rolling resistance as well as a spoiler at the back and a new drawing of the wheel arches. The brand’s press release specifies that the power still oscillates between 190 and 292 horsepower.
Two batteries are offered, displaying a capacity of 66.5 and 70.5 kWh. The manufacturer does not specify for the moment not the time required for recharging, but it should remain unchanged and turn around the thirty minutes. Indeed, the maximum power always culminates at 100 kW, whatever the version, namely 250+, 300 4Matic and 350 4Matic.
The electric SUV is now compatible with Plug & Charge functionality, which allows you to start the latter without having to take out your card or smartphone. This technology is already used by certain brands such as Tesla or Volkswagen and operates in particular on ionity terminals.
This new restyled Mercedes Eqa will be Available to order this fall, While deliveries will start at the start of next year. The price has not yet been communicated, but it should undoubtedly exceed 46,950 euros in the previous version, which could threaten the ecological bonus obtaining. The SUV has a new reversing camera as well as an improved line crossing warning.
