On board, no surprise for those who have already seen an EQS SUV, the presentation is very close. The materials are of excellent quality and the rigorous adjustments. What will set the sight of your passengers is obviously – as on the sedan eqe – the hyperscreen dashboard and its three screens that extend over the entire width of the panel. Reverse of the medal, it is an option for which it will be necessary to pay almost … 10.000 € ! Level engines, the SUV EQE starts with the 350+ (215 kW), with a single engine on the rear wheels. It is this model that offers the greatest autonomy (almost 600 km) while the same, in “4Matic”, loses around forty kilometers in the operation. The 500 version (4Matic) goes to 300 kW, but does not offer more than 552 km of autonomy. That’s good, but to consider with the 90 kWh of the battery.

Excellence at a price

For having done the 350+ and 500 test, the average consumption statement was around 20-22 kWh/100 km. It is therefore completely imaginable to hold – really – between 400 km and 500 km depending on the type of roads borrowed. Quite surprisingly, Mercedes specifies that the “good consos” are due, in particular, to the presence of a heat pump (- 16 %) delivered in series, which was not the case on the sedan ! That future buyers reassure themselves, the next sedans EQE, EQS and the SUV EQS will also benefit. The other source of energy saving concerns the versions with 2 electric motors (4Matic).

There, a new system called DCU (“Disconnect Unit”) allows you to unscrew the engine located at the front when driving in “Eco or comfort”. In the event of an emergency, the system resets the axis in a fraction of a second. At the wheel, despite 100 kg more than the sedan, the SUV keeps the course and offers very high level comfort. And if you draw from the (long) list of options, you will enjoy the excellent pneumatic suspension or even rear steps, a guarantee of an exemplary handling and parking maneuvers in a pocket handkerchief … however , even being better endowed than an equivalent EQE sedan, the SUV will require a substantial financial effort be +/- 5.000 € more. Admittedly, the latest technological developments are there, it is the most point Mercedes, but it is paid at a high price !
