When you start to take a closer look at the differences between such or such a television, you can see that everyone has more or less understandable acronyms. Before purchasing your television, we advise you to familiarize yourself with most of these acronyms in order to make the right choice. We focus on the screen, its dimensions, its resolution and its image quality. It’s a start but that is not enough to identify your needs.

LED TV

The predecessors of the TV LEDs were known under the terms LCD and Plasma. The second has not been marketed since 2014, on the other hand, we too often forget to say that LED technology is in fact an evolution of LCD technology since we find in the LED screen of the liquid crystals. The difference is due in the backlight made by diode electroluminescent.

OLED technology

OLED TVs first designed by Sony and now other brands like LG, offer an innovative organic slab system, hence the “o” placed before the acronym. With this OLED technology, the backlight disappears and reduces the thickness of the screen since the organic pixels produce their own light. These high -end televisions are obviously more expensive, however you will find them at a much lower price on Electro Dépôt. An OLED screen diffuses an image of excellent quality, an incredible color rendering because the palette is even more exploited, an integrated HDR mode, an ability to naturally optimize contrast and brightness for better visual effects. An experience appreciated even on the side since you will distinguish a beautiful image even in the angles exceeding 45 degrees. So many advantages that will weigh in the scale.

QLED TV

We owe this last term to the Samsung brand having placed on the market a new range of QLED televisions, q for quantum dot. The carbon components are replaced here by quantum points again backlit. Take advantage of QLED technology at low prices at Electro Dépôt, thanks to a large choice of OLED and QLED High Definition 4K screens. An OLED TV, what is it?

Signature Series Ambiance Image | Vogel's

The latest development in the field of televisions technology is OLED TV. The technology used in OLED televisions is not new in itself. It has been used in smartphones for some time. However, high production and technology costs have slowed down the introduction of OLED TV.

Millions of tiny LEDs

We start to know the LED televisions well: the screen is illuminated by LEDs on the sides or at the back of the panel. The pixels themselves do not emit light. It’s different with OLED technology. The diodes (tiny bulbs) of an OLED TV represent so many individual light sources, eliminating the need for backlighting. OLED screens are ultra-thin and lighter.

Each diode can be activated or deactivated separately, black becomes an absolute black, the colors are more intense and the details of a barely believable clarity. This high contrast does not only improve image quality but also allows a greater angle of vision, without loss of contrast.
