Welcome Mokka Electric, exit Mokka-e: Here is the new name of this twin brother of the Peugeot E-2008. However, Opel develops its all -electric urban SUV before that of the lion, endowing it with a new engine and a new battery.

Indeed, like the other electric vehicles of the Stellantis group based on the E-CMP and EMP2 platforms (Peugeot 308, Opel Astra, or DS3 E-Tense and E-208), the 100 kW electrical engine (136 hp) of Vitesco Technologies gives way to a unit of 115 kW (156 hp), the fruit of a joint venture between Stellantis and Nidec. If the power increases by 20 hp, the torque remains identical, to 260 Nm, as is the speed limited to 150 km/h.

On the other hand, WLTP autonomy increases by 20 %, going from 338 kilometers currently at 406 kilometers. A result which is not due to the increase in the capacity of the battery, which goes from 50 kWh to 54 kWh, but to the fact that the consumption of this Mokka Electric is decreasing, with 15.2 kWh per 100 km mixed cycle. We will soon test this new version to see if this little urban SUV has gained in versatility.

In the meantime, the load performance remains the same: the battery can go from 20 to 80 % in just under 30 minutes at a fast charging station of 100 kW. For alternating current recharge, an 11 kW on -board charger is still there. We do not yet know the price of this update, the current starting version at € 36,100. The new Mokka Electric should be available in the second half of 2023.
