During the year, Some Internet subscriptions can be displayed at 2 euros per month for a period which will however be limited. This is particularly the case for private sales, a good free plan that made the operator of Xavier Niel success.
How to benefit from a promo on an internet subscription ?
Internet service providers highlight different types of promotions to convince consumers to change their offers. The change of internet subscription is not as simple as that of a mobile package. Specific procedures are generally requested as sending a letter of termination, the return of equipment in a package and the payment of termination fees.
These different procedures can sometimes brake consumers in their desires for change. If These approaches seem more restrictive than the procedure for terminating a mobile package, They still remain quite simple and fast.
We must also be aware of the fact that Promotions facilitate the change of internet boxes and encourage users to do so. Most operators offer a reimbursement of termination fees. This offers the advantage of being able to go from one service provider to another without the transition being expensive.
Advice from mySmallBox
To benefit from an offer on an internet subscription, it is better to know the vocabulary used by operators, because certain discounts are sometimes under conditions. In order not to have unpleasant surprises, the MapetiteBox team offers to return in detail to this jargon specific to the promotions of the Internet boxes.
Refund offers: what possibilities for new subscribers ?
Regarding the termination of an internet box, you should know that this approach is paying. Unless there is a legitimate reason for possible termination, put an end to an internet access contract with or without commitment gives rise to costs. For a user holding an internet contract and wishing to terminate his offer to change ISPs, tips are to know. Back on useful information concerning the termination of an internet box.

- Generally, supply fee costs are around fifty euros;
- Additional costs may apply in the event of an unpleasant commitment;
- The new Internet access provider can cover all or part of the termination fees.
Internet service providers almost all offer a reimbursement offer system as part of a change of operator. The approach itself is also quite simple. If each operator operates according to their goodwill, it seems that all Internet service providers share a common approach.
To benefit from the reimbursement of termination costs of its internet box, it is necessary:
- Carry out the termination of his subscription;
- Send certain supporting documents to obtain reimbursement of termination costs within the limit of the amount announced by the new operator;
- Wait a few weeks after sending the file to receive refund by transfer.

In most cases, up to 100 euros are reimbursed to new customers. Reduction codes for Internet boxes on promotion.
In practice, the use of these promo codes, or reduction codes for internet box is quite simple:
- These promo codes have a limited validity duration;
- Just fill in the code during the subscription stage;

What are the periods to favor to change internet subscription ?

The end of year celebrations: Christmas and New Year’s Day promotions
The festive period of the end of year celebrations, with Christmas and the New Year in particular, is a crucial moment for Take advantage of the good plans of Internet access providers. ISPs know that this is a decisive moment for them to recruit new customers. Promotions periods on Fiber and ADSL Internet offers.
Back to school, an important period for the promotions of FAI
In addition to the end of the year, other periods are conducive to promotions. This is particularly the case with Back to school, which is a period during which Internet access providers are targeting different audiences. Generally two types of internet offers are on promotion when the school year.
- Internet boxes integrating the classic services of a fixed subscription with a mobile package
Because many students get their first mobile during this period, reduction offers are massively offered by the ISPs at the start of the school year. For parents, this is an opportunity to benefit from a quadruple play internet box, namely An internet subscription with a mobile, free or extremely reduced price package. A real plus since with an internet box on promotion of this type, the package meets both the needs of a child or adolescent and the budgetary constraints of parents.
- Cheap internet boxes for students
Internet service providers also display promotions on Internet boxes. These offers, often attractive for the most rudimentary offers, prove to be relevant to students. These can indeed Equip their accommodation with an internet box, at a lower cost. This period is therefore to be watched closely, especially for students who only have limited budgets in the majority of cases.

Posted on 05/05/2017 at 4:47 pm | Updated on 06/22/2023
Our comparison of the best fiber internet box offers was updated on June 22, 2023. Free no longer markets on its site Le Player Free Devialet which accompanies its Freebox Delta offer. In addition, the limited series of SFR is still relevant. For € 23.99 per month for 6 months then € 35.99, it offers a box 7 with a drop -down flow of 1 GB/s and a standard Netflix subscription with Pub. But that does not change our selection which always highlights the very complete Bbox Ultym formula from Bouygues Telecom. It is billed for € 30.99 per month in the first year and requires a one -year commitment. For tighter budgets and for those who want a non -binding box, the Freebox Pop presents itself as the most generous proposal on all points (€ 25.99 per month for a year then € 36.99).
1. Bbox Ultym: the best fiber box of the moment
Bouygues Telecom’s Bbox Ultym is one of the most complete fiber boxes in our eyes. This internet package with a one -year commitment checks all the boxes on the fundamentals for those who seek to obtain “real” fiber with solid flows (up to 2 Gb/s in reception and 900 Mb/s in theoretical emission ), services, all at a content rate, € 30.99 per month the first year, then € 50.99.
The Bbox Ultym takes advantage of the latest techno refinements with 4K, more than 180 TV channels, up to two very solid WiFi 6th repeaters. At the moment, the offer is accompanied by a 6 -month subscription to Disney+ (then € 8.99 per month) and a 6 -month subscription to Universal+ (then € 5.99 per month).
2. Red box fiber: the best fiber subscription without obligation
The only Red by SFR offer offered a few months ago at € 23 (without duration limit) is displayed at € 18.99 per month for a year then € 29.99. But this drop in price over 12 months is accompanied by a drop in the theoretical maximum drop -down flow: 500 Mb/s for download against 1 GB/s previously. Upon sending, we always take advantage of a theoretical maximum speed of 500 Mb/s. The unlimited to mobile calls option continues to be free (€ 5 per month excluding promo).
Recall that this promo box offers a solid connection thanks to its recent equipment (Fast 5GHz Mimo 3 × 3 WiFi) and a nice multimedia experience with its 4K decoder available for € 3 per month if 35 channels and € 5 if 100 channels. You can also take advantage of the Red TV application to look without additional cost 35 channels. The bouquet of 100 channels is charged € 2 per month. For € 25.99 per month then € 36.99 after the first year, RED’s proposal includes a WiFi 6 compatible box (SFR Box 8) promising up to 1 GB/s for download and always 700 MB/s for shipping. It is in our opinion this version that must be favored.
3. Freebox Revolution: the cheap and convincing fiber offer (for 1 year)
The Freebox Revolution is one of the cheapest fiber boxes for a year with its monthly rate of € 19.99. Beyond that, it will be billed to you € 44.99. This fiber internet subscription displays a theoretical downhill flow of 1 GB/s and a theoretical amount of 600 Mb/s theoretical. It also presents other non-negligible assets, namely a 4K TV decoder, a TV bouquet bringing together 270 channels and unlimited calls to fixes of more than 110 destinations and mobiles in France/Dom.
4. Freebox Pop: The best speeds, at the best price
Released in August 2020, the Freebox Pop occupies the medium range segment at Free. A very engaging box with its new interface and especially its impressive shared theoretical flows of 5 GB/S (provided you are wired by Free). This POP scores points on the essentials and presents the most attractive price from the second year of subscription for a recent box, € 29.99 the first year then 39.99 after.
Hosted by Android TV (with a house interface called OQEE) It gives access to Android applications, manages 4K HDR Dolby Vision content and is compatible with Dolby Atmos. Android TV obliges, there is also Google Assistant, the integration of a chromecast and a repeater to extend the range of WiFi (Dual Band) is provided.
What you need to know about Fiber Internet offers
Regardless of the many regularly distilled promotions on mobile, the price war also takes place on the internet boxes via fiber optics where reductions are also frequent. However, as on mobile packages, you have to sort out to get your hands on real deals. Our selection of the best promotions on fiber subscriptions from the various operators is thus updated every week (or as soon as a new operator offer appears) to offer you updated recommendations.
We focus here on the fiber optics, the ADSL offers are therefore excluded from this selection but you can find the best of them on our dedicated guide. To find out more about the installation procedure and the best fiber offers apart from promotions, we send you back to our general guide, more dense and exhaustive.
- Note that fiber offers are all subject to termination costs (usually up to € 50) … which will also be reimbursed by the new operator that you have chosen. Also note that certain offers under subject to a commitment (generally one year) while others are without commitment.
- In any case, if you are still in ADSL, it is the operator that you have chosen who will take care of the installation of the fiber in your home.
The other best offers to consider among operators
Orange
The Livebox Fiber entry ticket is 24.99 euros per month for 12 months then 42.99 euros. This is the least expensive option at Orange and it already has a correct speed of 500 Mb/s in Download and 500 MB/s in Upload. The offer gives access to 140 channels and you will find the latest box of the operator, the Livebox 5 and a 4K decoder.
For a slightly further experience, the UP formula is in our opinion very interesting with a maximum downward speed of 2 GB/s. This is a shared speed. In the end, this Livebox 5 offers a theoretical flow of 1 GB/s by equipment. Ascending flow can reach 600 Mb/s. In addition, this box is accompanied by a Wi-Fi repeater, on request, to be sure to properly cover all of his home and, always on request, a TV key or a second very useful UHD TV decoder if You have two TVs. After reduction, it will cost you 32.99 euros per month for 12 months For this fiber offer Then 50.99 euros.
The historic operator launched in April 2022 its Livebox 6, a latest generation box compatible with WiFi 6th which is integrated into a new offer called Livebox Max. For 37.99 euros per month for a year then 55.99 euros, it offers A maximum drop -down flow of 2 GB/s and a maximum ascending speed of 800 Mb/s. The subscription includes up to 3 WiFi 6 repeaters, the Serenity WiFi Service (support by a WiFi specialist) and an Airbox 20 GB.
let’s remember that These three offers are subject to a 12 -month commitment, the reduction period.
Free
Iliad focuses on 3 boxes, the entry/medium -level revolution, Pop in the middle of the range and the Delta. Price side, this goes from € 19.99 for 12 months then € 44.99 For the Freebox Revolution at € 39.99 for 1 year then € 49.99 for the Freebox Delta to which you will have to add the POP Player without additional cost or the Apple TV 4K 2021 for € 2.99 per month for 48 months. The Player Delta at € 480 is no longer marketed on the operator’s website.
At Free, our favors focus on the Revolution and the Freebox Pop, two very solid Proposition Services / Prix. With its new interface and shared theoretical flows of 5 Gb/s (provided you are wired by Free), pop is the most recent and offers the latest techno refinements. However, it is more expensive in the first year (€ 29.99 then 39.99 after) that the revolution that scored points on the essentials. Currently the POP offer remains the most relevant, hosted by Android TV (with a house interface called OQEE) it gives access to Android applications, takes advantage of Google Assistant and an integrated chromecast and a rehearsal to extend the scope of WiFi (Dual band) is included.
Bouygues Telecom
Bouygues Telecom does how other operators on their “classic” fiber offers (understand with commitment), namely a valid discount for 12 months is the duration of the commitment. Count 17.99 euros per month for a year then 31.99 euros for the Bbox Fit (400 Mb/s), the most affordable Bouygues boxes. To have a more recent box, we will find the must (1 GB/s and 700 Mb/s) offer offered at the moment at 24.99 euros the first year then 41.99 euros. The ultym version (2 GB/S and 900 Mb/s) is displayed at 30.99 euros for 12 months then 50.99 euros.
Note that the box rental is included in the price and that Bouygues covers up to 100 euros from the termination costs of your former operator. The commitment period is one year, the duration of the promotion. Currently, the strongest offer at Bouygues is the Bbox Ultym at € 30.99 per month the first year and which remains at an advantageous price after. It should also be noted that this 4K HDR box hosted by Android TV is one of the most recent and efficient on the market, that it has Google Assistant, a double band repeater and a fast AC Wi-Fi. Bouygues’ proposal at € 30.99 is one of the most complete on the box market with commitment .
SFR
There are three subscription formulas at SFR normally: Starter fiber, Power fiber and premium fiber. The entry ticket with the box 7 currently at 20.99 euros for 12 months then 34.99 euros offers already very solid flows of 500 Mb/s.
The Fiber Box Power offer benefits from maximum theoretical flows of 2 GB/s in reception and 700 Mb/s in broadcast for 27.99 euros for 12 months then 39.99 euros. A lot especially since you will enjoy there Box 8 which supports WiFi 6 and is compatible with Dolby Atmos / 4K HDR (200 channels).
The premium offer is not currently the subject of specific reduction if not a lower call price during the 1st year: 33.99 euros for 12 months then 46.99 euros. We find Maximum speeds of 8 Gb/s for download (1 GB/s in sending), 200 channels and the Multi TV option. The last two subscriptions have a choice of 6 months of Netflix (then € 5.99), Disney+ (then € 8.99) or Amazon Prime (then € 6.99).
SFR also currently offers a special offer that includes A box 7 with a speed down up to 1 GB/s and an upward speed up to 700 Mb/s as well as a standard Netflix subscription with Pub. The Red Carré operator asks you for € 23.99 per month for 6 months then € 35.99.
As with Orange and Bouygues, the duration of the engagement is one year and SFR reimburses up to € 100 on the termination costs of your former operator. Currently, it is the Power fiber offer at € 27.99 that brings together our votes at SFR.
And among regulars of without commitment ?
Red by SFR’s proposal is less engaging than previously despite the unlimited calls option to mobile, generally billed 5 euros per month, offered this week again. We now find 500 Mb/s flows for download against 1 GB/s earlier and still 500 Mb/s Following for € 18.99 per month for a year then € 29.99 (one month’s subscription offered).
For € 7 more (€ 25.99 per month for one year then € 36.99), the RED subscription includes the SFR Box 8 which advances flows of 1 GB/s for download and 700 Mb/s in sending. In our opinion, this is the most attractive proposal.
Opposite, Sosh is less aggressive on the flows offered on his “box” with 300 Mb/s (theoretical) for download and sending. The invoice amounts to € 20.99 but you have to keep in mind that this price is valid for 12 months, it will go back after 30.99 €. In addition, if you intend to take advantage of the TV with the decoder that is fine, you will also have to relieve yourself of an additional € 5 per month, a total invoice of € 25.99 for 1 year then € 35.99 after. However, you will benefit from the Livebox 5 that has proven itself.
We summarize
The offer Bbox Ultym by Bouygues Telecom at 30.99 euros then 50.99 euros Check all the boxes on the flows, in ethernet as in Wi-Fi, the 4K TV decoder, the interface and the fluidity of the box, the unlimited calls to the fixed and mobiles of Metropolitan France, Europe, DOM, USA and Canada , this is one of the most balanced and accessible proposals on the market currently.
If your budget is more limited and you are looking for a non -binding box, Free’s proposal is very interesting for its flows and multimedia offer. To access it, you will have to pay € 29.99 per month for one year then € 39.99.

How to know if you are eligible for fiber ?
As of June 30, 2023, more than 36.2 million premises are eligible for optical fiber (FTTH) in France. The operators deploy fiber in large cities but also in the smallest cities and rural areas.
Several online tools allow you to Test your fiber eligibility, To find out if your line is eligible or not:
- On the operator’s site (Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom, Free, Red by SFR, Sosh) or on the Public network site If you are affected by a RIP (Public Initiative Network)
- On the ARCEP interactive map, which also indicates the maximum speeds offered by operators on your line
Fiber comparison: what are the best offers ?
Many offers are offered by Internet Access providers. The price is obviously one of the most important criteria, but certain offers contain exclusive services or the best connection flows.
The choice of your internet box will then have to be made according to your needs and expectations. For example, if you often watch television, you should choose an offer including TV channels.
Which flow rates to choose ?
The flows offered on each internet box differ from one offer to the other, which partly explains the price difference. The downward speed corresponds to the download of content, and the amount amount represents the sending of files.
The cheapest offers offer packages Between 300 and 500 Mbit/s, which is more than enough for daily use of the Internet from a PC, a smartphone, a tablet and accessories. This is particularly the case with the Red Box, the SFR Box Starter, the Sosh box, the Bbox Fit de Bouygues Telecom and the Livebox of Orange.
But if you live in a large family or a large roommate, we rather advise you to choose a box offering a Flow of 1 Gb/s or more. The operators offer high -end offers allowing you to take advantage of a flow rate:
- Up to 2 gbit/s : Livebox Up and Livebox Max from Orange, SFR box and Bbox Ultym from Bouygues Telecom
- Up to 5 gbit/s : FREEBOX POP
- Up to 8 Gbit/s : SFR premium box, Freebox Delta and Delta S of Free, Bbox Ultym from Bouygues Telecom (with new DEPIT+option)
Note that the Livebox Up, the Power box, the Bbox Ultym and the Freebox Pop offer maximum shared flows. That is to say that if you connect two devices on the box, the maximum flow will be divided by two.
TV channels included
Most Internet boxes available on the market include TV channels and a decoder. Others, on the other hand, do not include these services and you will have to subscribe to a paid option to take advantage of it.
You may not need TV channels, especially if you receive TNT or satellite TV. In this case we recommend the Bbox Fit, the Red Box or the Sosh box. But if you often watch television, here is a comparison of channels and TV services included in the ADSL Internet boxes at operators.
No TV on the Bbox Fit
There Bbox Fit de Bouygues Telecom is the only internet box on the market to not include TV channels nor to offer optional.
This allows the operator to offer an internet offer in ADSL and affordable fiber at only € 18.99 in the first year.
Red by SFR and Sosh: Optional TV
Red by SFR and Sosh have the particularity of offering some TV channels included in their ADSL offers, but they are only accessible via smartphone, tablet and computer. Red offers 35 and Sosh 72.
To enjoy a TV decoder and more channels on your TV, you must subscribe to theTV option offered by the two operators.
Sosh offers a single option with decoder included and Red offers an option with more channels and a decoder available for purchase:
- Red by SFR: 100 channels via the Red TV app for € 2/month + Connect TV decoder at € 3/month
- SOSH: 140 channels + Ultra HD 4K decoder for € 5/month
Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free: which offers the most channels ?
The other Internet boxes offered by Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free include TV channels as well as a decoder, but the number and the decoder model vary according to boxes and operators.
Here are the TV channels included according to operators’ boxes:
- 140 channels : Livebox, Livebox Up and Livebox Max of Orange
- 160 channels : SFR Starter box
- 180 channels : Bbox must and Bbox Ultym by Bouygues Telecom
- 200 channels : Power box and SFR premium box
- 220 channels : FREEBOX POP
- 280 channels : Freebox Revolution and Freebox Delta
It is therefore Free who integrates the most TV channels compared to his competitors. But access to 140 channels as at Orange already allows you to take advantage of a large number of programs to entertain the whole family.
And the decoders included in each box:
- Orange : Ultra HD 4K
- SFR ::
- Starter box: SFR Box 7 TV
- Power box: Connect TV
- Premium box: SFR Box 8 TV
The different fiber technologies: FTTH and FTTB
The optical fiber Ftth
THE Ftth (Fiber to the home – fiber to the subscriber) is the most efficient and stable technology for the subscriber.
The entire connection between the NRO (optical connection node) and the accommodation is made of optical fiber, which ensures high flows and a stable connection.
This stability is observed on lines which can reach a length of 30 km, without undergoing electromagnetic disturbances.
The fiber FTTB/FTTLA Used by SFR
The FTTLA fiber (fiber to the last amplifier) is similar to the FTTB fiber (fiber to the building). The two technologies are exclusively used by SFR (and its subsidiary Red by SFR) which inherited the coaxial network of Numéricable during its takeover.
FTTB and FTTLA fibers are quite controversial since it is actually a hybrid network between fiber and copper. Indeed the last meters of the line are not fiber but copper, which was once used only to receive television.
We then speak of fibration only horizontal since the fiber does not go up in the building: the light signal is converted into an electric signal. This operation is carried out in a cabinet placed in the street or in a building.
Compared to the FTTH fiber, the flow rates are less important on the FTTB/FTTLA fiber. Nevertheless, there are boxes offering a maximum drop -down flow of 1 Gbit/s and a maximum amount of speed of 100 Mbit/s, which is more than enough for daily use of the Internet.
The deployment of fiber
The deployment of fiber has accelerated in recent years with the various private and public initiatives carried by the actors of the sector and local.
The connections are made differently according to the areas fixed by the arcep:
- Dense areas (Large agglomerations and heads of the department): operators deploy their private networks after having signed agreements with local communities and the State.
- Less dense areas ::
- Amii : Orange and SFR responded to AMII (call for investment intention) launched in 2011 by the State within the framework of the France THD plan. They then built their own FTTH network in several French municipalities.
- Rip : local communities launch RIP (public initiative networks) whose legal form may vary. These networks must guarantee shared use of the network and respect the principles of equality and free competition. For each network, each operator must find an agreement to market their offers and alternative operators are often present to compensate for the absence of the largest.
- Amel : local authorities launch a tender to private operators to deploy fiber optics in municipalities where no private initiative or public network is present.
We advise you to visit Arcep’s card which takes up deployments of optical fiber through France, be it the initiatives of private operators and public networks.
You can also access the maximum theoretical flows available at your address on the card.
The France THD plan
The France THD (France very high speed) plan was launched in 2013 by the government and aims at Offer everyone a minimum flow of 30 Mb/s by 2022 and of Connect all residents to optical fiber by 2025.
The project provides for an investment of 20 billion euros over ten years, which will be addressed in priority in the deployment of fiber optic to the subscriber (FTTH).
