Instagram stories have all kinds of integrated features. But the latter can be difficult to find and even more difficult to use.

What is an Instagram story ?
Instagram stories are full -screen photos and vertical videos that disappear after 24 hours. They appear at the top of the application and not in the news feed.
Stories may include interactive tools such as stickers, surveys and AR filters to make your content more impactful. You will find below our tips for getting the most out of this type of publication.
How to publish an Instagram story
- In the application, press thePlus icon(+) located at the bottom of the screen.
- Then select Story In the menu located at the bottom right of the screen.
- Press the white circle Located at the bottom of the screen to take a photo, or ..
- Press the white circle And let pressed to save a video, or ..
- Press theCamera mirror icon Located at the bottom right to switch to selfie mode, or ..
- Select the square icon located at the bottom left to use pre -existing photos or videos.
On the left of the screen, you have access to different formats with which to experiment: create, boomerang, layout or hands free.
How to check the number of views of your Instagram stories ?
If your Insta story is still online (that is to say that less than 24 hours have passed since you published it), you just have to press the icon Your story on the main application page to find out the number of users having seen it. Click on activity, bottom left of the screen, then on the figure indicating the number of views to obtain a list of people who discovered your Instagram story as well as any likes received by it.
Even after the disappearance of your Instagram story (after 24 hours of publication), you can always access information such as the scope and prints (the scope is the number of unique accounts that have seen your story and the prints correspond to the number total times your story has been seen).
Here’s how to proceed:
- On the application page of the application, press your profile picture, lower right of the screen.
- Press themenu icon located in the upper right corner and select Statistics.
- Choose the period for which you want information: 7, 14 or 30 days, the previous month, the last 90 days or a personalized period.
- Drive up to the bottom up to Content that you shared and press Stories.
- Press theSort and filter icon To choose your sorting indicators and options.
How to program Instagram stories
Adjusting stories regularly is a good way to maintain the interest of your audience. However, having to interrupt your daily tasks to create and publish stories can quickly prove to be binding.
To save time, it can therefore be interesting to program your stories in a publication calendar on social media. This also allows you to plan the content of your stories so as to complete your other social posts and integrate them effectively in your current campaigns.
To program an Instagram story using Hootsuite:
- Go to your Hootsuite dashboard and select Create → Post In the left menu.
- In the messages composition window, select the account on which you want to publish your story.
- In the Content section (content), go to the Story publisher using the scrolling menu right -handed.
- Click on theUpload icon To add your image or video. You can also click on theLibrary icon To select items from your multimedia library.
The videos must last between 1 second and 60 minutes, and the images weigh less than 30 MB. The recommended ratio is 9:16 in both cases. You can add only one file per story.
Note : If you want to add text or story to your story, make sure they are part of your image or video file. The text included in the field dedicated to legend (in the composition window of messages) will not be included in your story.
You can easily change your images using Canva without leaving your Hootsuite dashboard. To start, click on theCanva icon Located at the bottom right of the messages composition window. Then select Instagram Story.
Once you have finished modifying your image or video, just click on the button Add to post (Add to the message) located in the upper right corner of the screen, and your file will be attached to your publication.
5. Preview your story and click on SCHEDULE FOR LATER (program at a later date) in order to choose the moment when it is published. Then click on the yellow button Schected (program) and voila !
You can now consult, modify or delete the programmed story in your Hootsuite calendar.
How to use Instagram stories stickers
To add a sticker to your Instagram story:
- Start by creating your story.
- Once the photo or video is ready, press theSticker icon Located at the top of the screen: it is square with a folded corner (and it smiles !)).
- Select the type of sticker you want to use. Each category has its properties. We explain below the most popular categories, but do not hesitate to do tests to see what each can bring you. You can move and resize each sticker.
Link sticker
To add a link to your Instagram story, use the link sticker:
- Press theSticker icon.
- Choose the sticker LINK.
- Enter the URL of the link you want to show users.

To create a survey in an Instagram story:
- Press theSticker icon.
- Choose the sticker SURVEY.
- Ask your question.
- Enter the potential responses. The default is yes / no, but you can enter any answer.
- Publish your survey for 24 hours.

How to use the audio saved on Instagram stories
There is no integrated feature to add an audio file saved to an Instagram story, but several solutions allow this obstacle. These are legitimate methods that will not cause you copyright problems.
Whatever the method chosen, you must start by saving audios. To do this, press the name of the audio track of any Instagram content and click the backup button located at the top right of your screen.
Use the music sticker to add an audio saved to an Instagram story.
Note that this option only works for music, not for original audio tracks. In this method, your registered audio library acts essentially as a memory aid.
- From your Instagram profile, press themenu icon (three superimposed horizontal lines) and select Checked in.
- Press on Audio, then on Music And search for the track you want to use. Write the name of the song (or try to remember, it’s so simple !)).
- Create your story and press the sticker MUSIC.
