If the application is not yet available on iOS, Google One’s latest update has just landed on Android. In addition to saving the content of your device, it will allow you to review the elements unnecessarily occupying the storage of your Google Drive or Gmail to help you free up space.
1. Download Google One
If not already done, start by downloading the Google One application to your smartphone. Already available on Android, it should land very soon on iOS. This application serves as a control tower to manage the entire storage of Google services: Google Drive, Gmail, Google Photos.
If the application is already installed on your smartphone, make sure it is up to date. The following manipulation is carried out with Google One in version 1.73.324410959. This update is still being deployed and may not be available from all users.
2. Clean up on storage
If you are a bit short of storage, especially if you only use the 15 GB that a free account offers, you may want to do some cleaning before saving the contents of your smartphone.
The application incorporates a tool to effectively manage your storage space and release content by deleting the elements that unnecessarily occupy the allocated space.
To do this, open the application and place yourself on the tab Storage space. Then press the button Release the account storage space. The module will then suggest you delete the spam and the elements present in the gmail basket, or even empty Google Drive’s basket.
You can also review the bulky items received in email attachments or stored on your drive. Once these elements are cleaned, you will undoubtedly have recovered several GB of storage on your Google One account.
3. Save the contents of your device
Natively, your Android smartphone already knows how to save its content online on Google Drive. The option is in Settings Android, within the menu System Where is an option to Backup.
Then just activate the option Save on Google Drive. If it is automated, you can also choose to manually trigger the backup by pressing the suitable button. It will include data and applications, SMS, device settings, call history as well as contacts.

To save your content via Google One, open the application and scroll the options displayed on the home page until you reach the section Save device data. Then press Configure data backup.
