Google is therefore found on paper with three subscription formulas on the arms, each with their strengths and weaknesses. We suspect that the firm will end up simplifying its offer, but for the moment all this seems somewhat rough to us.
Google “simplifies” its subscription offers and launches three formulas
YouTube Premium, Music Premium and Play Music, these are the three subscription formulas that Google will soon offer in France and in many other countries. A certain vision of simplicity.

Google has the reputation of always launching several products that compete with each other, and the last announcement of the research giant is not likely to improve the situation. Indeed, in an effort to “simplify” its musical subscription offer, the company will now offer three distinct offers of monthly subscription.
YouTube Red, who has so far had never been launched in France will finally arrive in our regions, but will bear a new name, YouTube Premium. The service will cost $ 12 per month in the United States (so probably as much in euros) and will allow access to the entire YouTube catalog without advertisements and read videos in the background or download them for a offline viewing. Subscribers will also have access to the “original creations” of Youtube, whose series Cobra Kai, spin off of Karate Kid.
For those who are not interested in the tribulations of Johnny Lawrence and Daniel Larusso, it will be possible to simply subscribe to the Music Premium* formula,* which will allow you to download and read in the background (and without advertising) videos musicals present on YouTube. An offer that will probably cost € 9.99 per month in Europe and will therefore compete with the Apple Music and other Spotify of this world head -on. And given the typing power of YouTube, with in particular its application installed on all Android phones sold in Europe, Google could well hold a sacred advantage. But that’s without counting a third service from Mountain View: Google Play Music.
Google simplification
Indeed, the musical streaming subscription that the company launched 6 years ago has never really managed to assert itself in the same way as its competitors, despite the fact that the app is preloaded on all Android mobiles. The service which is already available in France for € 9.99/month allows not only to listen to the millions of titles found on other platforms, but also to load its own MP3. A Play Music subscription will automatically integrate the advantagesyoutube Music Premium*,* and vice versa.
Google is therefore found on paper with three subscription formulas on the arms, each with their strengths and weaknesses. We suspect that the firm will end up simplifying its offer, but for the moment all this seems somewhat rough to us.

YouTube’s subscription service reaches the 80 million subscribers mark
These two subscription services, complementary to the monetization of free listening to YouTube, allow artists to have two sources of income in Youtube. Last September, Youtube announced that he had contributed to $ 6 billion in the music industry over the last 12 months. Among these $ 6 billion, 30% of income is generated by copyrights received during the third user of musical content on YouTube. YouTube Premium brings together YouTube and Youtube Music offers, without advertising, available in the background or offline, on mobile devices or televisions. Since its launch in 2018, the user experience has been constantly improved, with features such as the after parties (which give exclusive access to content broadcast live).
The catalog of YouTube Music now has more than 100 million official songs, as well as a large catalog of live performance, remixes and unpublished pieces.
Since the launch of Youtube Music and Premium Youtube, the brand established partnerships with companies like Samsung, operators like SoftBank (Japan), Vodafone (Europe) and LG U+ (Korea), and services like Google One. “These partners have played an essential role in this success and we will continue to collaborate in improving the musical experience of fans around the world,” said a press release.
