The 2 euros free package (Free for Freebox subscribers) offers unlimited SMS and MMS, 2 hours of call as well as 50 MB of data. For someone who has a smartphone, this package will quickly show its limits. Indeed, 50 MB no longer represents anything in the use of the Internet. Opening a few emails can quickly become limited. But the offer is perfectly suited to small budgets, or those who wish to open a line for a child, an elderly person, or to receive calls during a real estate sale.

The most expensive free 5g package is offered, we told you at € 19.99 per month or € 15.99 per month for freebox subscribers. At this rate, you have access to the operator’s 5G connectivity within a fire limit of 210 GB per month (25 GB per month usable in 4G in Europe and in more than 70 destinations). Everything else, whose calls and SMS/MMS is unlimited.

In our opinion the Free Package enjoys good 4G/5G coverage in town in 2023

A critical point in all our analyzes concerns the quality of the network. And in our opinion free mobile is not necessarily the best from this point of view. Indeed, if in our opinion Free Mobile has made real efforts in recent years to develop its own networks, it is not yet quite as good as Orange, Bouygues Telecom or SFR. It all depends on technology.

3G is hardly a subject at Free Mobile, because the network is actually at the end of life. In our opinion Free has rather invested in 4G and 5G antennas, and also enjoys frequencies among the most convenient for an operator: the 700 MHz band, which simplifies the deployment by reducing the number of antennas , while allowing to cover the interior of buildings well. That said, in our opinion Free makes a lot of effort to deploy new antennas and provide better service. Things are therefore improving little by little.

In our opinion Free is still much more practical in town where you will not notice any difference with competition. For those who remember the Free Mobile Package in 2012, the situation has changed for the best – since today it is difficult to blame free mobile in dense areas in dense areas.

What about the quality of the 5G reception ? The Free Mobile 5G package relied on the most successful network in France when it was launched. That said, the 5G of Free relies on antennas that emit in the 700 MHz band, which is considered the low -end of 5G. The other operators focus on the 3.5 GHz band which delivers better flows and which some prefer to qualify as “real” 5G. In our opinion Free is therefore faster, but it is not 5G ultra-fast. It is a kind of improved 4G ++, for the moment.

The growth in the number of mobile subscribers in the Free Package has surprised up to historic operators. However, whether on the Internet box or on the package, in our opinion Free Mobile has turned the market upside down in the interest of the French: he forced competitors to adapt by offering lower prices, without that n Reduced the overall quality of the network, reception or infrastructure. Think about it: France even allowed itself to be one of the first countries to offer 5G !

If overall, Free Mobile does not always have the same network coverage as Orange, Bouygues Telecom or SFR, in our opinion Free Mobile remains a good choice in an urban environment (even if in rural areas, it’s a bit less true). With very advantageous prices and non -binding and flexible offers, in our opinion Free Mobile maintains Xavier Niel’s promise never to “press customers like lemons”.

And for the moment, the least we can say is that the promise seems rather held. To date, Free Mobile still only offers three packages, two of which the operator has always offered at the same price, and a special series that allows you to enjoy good deals all year round. On the one hand, free mobile side always offers its package at 2 euros – which is even offered free for freebox subscribers.

On the other, the old “unlimited package” goes to 5G / 4G+ with a generous data envelope of 210 GB, and access one of the 5G networks which best enters buildings and which offers date the ‘One of the best covers in France. In our opinion Free markets a 5G sometimes a little slower than at other operators. But you can enjoy it in more places, always with such an attractive price.

And as since then, Freebox subscribers are again spoiled with a reduction of around € 5 per month on the normal rate. In our opinion Free is therefore synonymous, as always, of promises held. But beware, because the market adapts. While the unlimited free package was the great reference in 2012, the competition was able to review its copy. Which invites all consumers to be very attentive to what is also happening in competition.

Today, it seems that the market is changing dynamics, with a raising of prices on certain offers, or the implementation of limits including at Free. For example, the operator introduced a data limit in Fair Use On the unlimited package with the transition to 5G. Even if it must be admitted that 210 GB of data are more than enough – to give itself a point of comparison is almost the monthly average of what a home of three people consumes via residential internet access.

In our opinion Free must have, like any operator who should be, buy at a high price of 5G frequencies and put the billions of euros necessary to concretize the arrival of 5G. We can imagine that this impression will strengthen in the coming years over the arrival of new network technologies and the strengthening of competing offers.

The fact remains that the Free Package has currently remained on the same creed and that Xavier Niel does not seem to break the promise of low price and quality offer formulated from the beginning of free mobile packages.

Over time, in our opinion, Free is therefore one of the best choices for the value for money in mobile plans-and loyalty to a commitment to always deliver low prices. Conversely, competition generally offers better quality of service, especially in low dense areas, but practical for this much higher prices, the price of which is revised upwards each year by small keys.
