Ford Mustang Mach-E: increased production and reduced price in 2023

Having taken measures to improve its supply chain of components for electric vehicles, including raw materials and batteries, Ford announces that the production of Multiser Mustang Mach-E will increase “significantly” in 2023, which will have the effect to reduce delivery times for customers.

After just under 78,000 copies in 2022, the target would be 130,000 this year.

As planned in his “Ford+ plan”, the manufacturer is also preparing to produce more F-150 Lightning van and e-transit vans in 2023.

However, let’s stay with the Mustang Mach-E, because Ford has decided to cut the prices of the majority of versions for 2023. The manufacturer will not say it, but we bet that it is in reaction to Tesla, which considerably reduced the prices of its Model Y in mid-January, including $ 85,000 to $ 69,990 in basic version.

Thus, the Premium RWD STANDARD Autonomy version decreases by $ 7,000 to reach $ 64,995 (PDSF). With full cog, count $ 67,245, a drop of $ 8,500. By opting for the biggest battery which extends the autonomy, the prices are now $ 77,995 and $ 80,245, respectively.

The California Route 1 EAWD version extended autonomy has been reduced by $ 6,805 to quantify at $ 79,120. Finally, the GT Performance Edition extended autonomy now costs $ 92,745, a decrease of $ 4,750.

An important absent from this list is the entry-level Select version, usually displayed with a PDSF of $ 56,995 and making the Mustang Mach-Essable to the Federal Greeting of $ 5,000. A spokesperson for Ford Canada confirms that his price does not change, at least for the moment.

Another drop in price for the Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford play yo-yo with the prices of Mustang Mach-E 2023. The electrical multisegment, which experienced a price drop at the start of the year and a slight increase thereafter, has just seen its adjusted price again. Indeed, the manufacturer confirms that, in most cases, the versions of the vehicle will see their prices decrease. In addition to this reduction, as a whole, the Mustang Mach-Etale with standard autonomy will now be offered with an LFP type battery as well as the new version of the semi-autonomous driving system Blue Cruise 1.2.

No decrease for the Select version

Even if the quasi-entrelated versions has seen their price decrease, the entry-level select version does not obtain a reduction. This version, the price of which amounts to $ 59,190, including transport and preparation costs, is also the eligible version at the discount of provincial and federal governments.

An LFP battery and increased production

It is by announcing this price decrease that Ford has revealed that the Mustangs Mach-E Standard autonomy will now be offered with a lithium-so-Phosphate battery (LFP).

Composed of iron at the cathode, replacing cobalt, nickel and manganese, LFP batteries are more resistant than regular lithium-ion batteries. They can receive 2,000 charging cycles, 500 more than ordinary lithium-ion battery. In addition, LFP batteries can be recharged at 100 % of their capacity, a significant difference with ordinary lithium-ion batteries which degrade prematurely if they are recharged to the maximum, which thus prevents manufacturers from exploiting the battery to its full potential.

This change now allows standard and propulsion versions to travel 402 kilometers, 5 more than before. Standard full -drive versions will earn 4 kilometers while earning 45 horsepower. The recharge of this battery will also be more quickly. Using a quick current level 3 DC terminal, the Mustangs Mach-E standard autonomy will recover 70 % of their autonomy in 33 minutes, 5 minutes less than currently thanks to the use of an LFP type battery.

Ford’s semi-autonomous driving system has also been updated. With the Bluecruise appellation, the driving system, only offered by subscription, offers certain features such as the adaptive driving regulator and track management on the highway. The new version 1.2 of the system now allows you to make channel changes independently.

In addition to price, battery and technology changes, Ford has said its intention to actually increase the production of the vehicle. The manufacturer’s factory located in Cuautitlán, Mexico, has undergone significant renovations which will allow, according to Ford, a reduction in the delivery time of vehicles. However, it will be necessary to wait until the second half of 2023 to know if indeed the pending drivers will benefit from these improvements.
